Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

So rookie question. I have yet to play this game, but will the DLC like the Raimi suit be immediately playable when I dip into the main story mode for the first time?

Yeah, you just have to do a little bit of the story mode first before you can though. Once you gain the ability to craft suits you should be able to use any suits unlocked. Though since the Raimi suit is free and part of the patch, you might be able to do it from the start.

It looks like they started making the Raimi suit before the game was even released:

And there you go. They had every intention of releasing it but couldn't say anything about it.

Props to Insomniac for remaining professional through all of this. It's one thing for customers to complain about something because what they've purchased is either not as advertised or damaged/broken etc. That at least would make sense.

Either way, I'm glad the Raimi suit finally made it into the game. I know that many fans hold that suit, that iteration, in high regard. I'm sure I'll use it from time to time.

There's some other neat things they added in the update I think are worth mentioning...

They removed the level cap.

You can now NG+ on top of your NG+. All they need to do is add a mission select feature.

They added a few more frames, stickers, and filters to photo mode. Several holiday themed ones.

And there's a new game difficulty setting. It's called Friendly Neighborhood. It's an easier mode than Friendly. Looks like it will be the 'kids mode' for this game.

I still hope they add two more features...an ability to change to rainy or overcast weather. And more factions in the random crimes.

Poor James got a lot of heat from people. It was probably tough from him, but he can breath easily now.

I feel bad they had so many people harassing them about the suit when they had it planned for people all along, in retrospect I can't believe it's in there now after all the craziness.

I'm really happy to see it made it in, that's one a lot of people (myself included) have attachment to. I periodically switch out the main suit to other suits while swinging around but this one is the trigger I needed to make a more permanent suit switch. I was waiting to start a new game + the whole time on some sense of hope for playing it again in the movie suit, now I can! So cool! Insomniac really is the best and I hope those who were harassing them about it can learn the right lesson that their patience can be rewarded, and not that they got what they wanted by doing that, cause that isn't the case why it's here.

Well, well, well...so all the whining and complaining was not even the reason why we got the Raimi suit. We were always going to get it.

Now the whiners can't even feel justified. Love it.

I hope this causes those people to reflect and not behave like this again. To quote JJJ, "What are the odds?!"

I just realized, I've been wanting a suit power for the Raimi suit to be organic webbing, unlimited ammo for webs, but in reality, that already exists. The nanomesh suit power grants unlimited gadgets.

Gonna be a good combination with the Raimi suit.

Insomniac did the right thing. When the vast majority of fans are all requesting the same 1-5 suits, it's just insulting to give them 30 obscure suits that no body likes.

If not for the vocal campaigners, we likely never would have got this, or the charged jump, and a bunch of things that make the game better. And to those of you saying that Insomniac shouldn't reward that behavior... Um, Insomniac are not our parents. It's not their job to teach us a lesson, and what sense does it make to punish all the Raimi fans because a few were being 'mean'?

Some of you are way too sensitive.

As one of the few that didnt care whether the raimi suit made it in or not, it looks great. And it's clear insomniac were trolling people from the start imo.

Personally, I wanted the sensational suit more than the Raimi suit. But what ever...

People were acting like the demand for the Raimi suit was a personal attack against the individuals at Insomniac. No, criticism does not equal personal attack. Part of the frustration stems from the fact that there are so many suits in the game, which shows how little effort it requires to make a single highly desired suit. Here's an analogy, you go to a rock concert, everyone in the crowd is requesting the band play their biggest hit, and the band says '**** you, now listen to 20 songs from our latest album that everybody hated.'

I've been using the spotify app to sync up the elfman theme to the game and lower the in-game music, and I felt all the feels you could possibly imagine

this is as close as we're gonna get to Spider-Man 4, and I'm alright with that. This game has provided me with so much happiness.

Well, if the band didnt want to play the song. Why do you feel entitled to get what you want?

People at Insomniac are better than me as I would’ve put a price on the suit. It can’t be said enough that criticism is fine but harassment is not. Having worked customer service I find it beyond cowardly for any disgruntled “customer” to hurl insults, death threats, and curses at an employee knowing that they could lose their jobs if they couldn’t take anymore and snapped back. I hope that this doesn’t make them less enthusiastic about making the sequel cause this Raimi suit mess has been a disaster.

I think you're missing some key facts here.

Did you not read the tweet above? The "vocal campaigners" are not the reason we got the Raimi suit. We were always going to get it. They were not trying to teach anyone a lesson. In fact given how hostile and rude a lot people got, I am amazed they stayed so civil and didn't just pull the plug on giving it to us. That would have been teaching people a lesson.

I don't feel entitled, but considering that it takes less effort to play one good song than it does to play 20 bad ones, and the band knows that everyone wants to hear it, you don't think that's basically a middle finger to the audience? The people who are enabling the bands career?

I haven't seen any of the death threats and insults. That's too far, but punishing all the Raimi fans for those few would be petty.

I'm not convinced that's true. I think they're doing damage control because that 'listening doesn't mean following' tweet made them look like divas. They also tried to pretend that their obvious graphical downgrade was just 'people complaining about puddles.'

"That would have been teaching people a lesson"

My comment was in reponse to those saying insomniac should have taught people a lesson by leaving out the Raimi suit.

Vocal campaigns did get us things like the charged jump and better web swinging and that is a part of the feedback that normally goes on in development. Insomniac has done a great job of listening to the fans and it's possible the vocal campaigns did in fact get us the Raimi suit. Insomniac made it clear they planned to put this in the game early on but obviously they had to go thru a bunch of red tape to get it into the game and not discussing it with the fans was unfortunately something that came with it.

However that doesn't mean that people can be a bunch of rude pricks to the developer cause there's something they want and aren't getting it. The Raimi suit doesn't have to be in the game at all. It doesn't affect the gameplay or technical pieces of the game. Yes, it's highly desired and thank goodness Insomniac pursued this cause it sounds like they went thru some effort to make it so. And how were they treated...a bunch of whiny, impatient, rude fans sending them harsh messages and even death threats. This isn't a case of being sensitive...but if I were Insomniac I would have put this behind a pay wall or made people work for it like getting Ultimate in the Screwball challenges. They're not our parents but for some people they could use a good slap across the back of the head.

You mean by working towards getting the Raimi suit, having to deal with rude fans and then not being able to talk about it due to possible legal reasons...yeah, they totally trolled us.

But they always intended to give us the Raimi suit so this point is null. And while I agree there's definitely some other suits I'd rather see in the game over some of the ones we got, however it seems to me that to get the Raimi suit was not so easy. If it was, I see no reason why it wouldn't have been in the game from the start.

And like I've said before, people expressing their dislike over the fact that the Raimi suit wasnt in the game or making requests to have it included is totally fine. It's when people begin to become inflammatory, derogatory, rude, hateful and even sending death threats...we should be fortunate that Insomniac didn't just decide to call it quits over pursuit to get this in the game.

I could at least empathize with people who were being rude because they shelled out money for something that ended up being broken and when they contacted the company that made it, got no response.

Whether you're convinced or not doesn't matter. That is the reason why we got the suit. Thinking they're lying isn't even a logical assumption.

The game is a huge hit. It sold incredibly well. It got terrific reviews. Its been nominated for all kinds of game awards. They released two DLCs since. People are still loving and playing it. Pray tell what damage control did they need to do here by lying about this?

Well the Raimi suit isn’t an insomniac invention so it’s more like, you go to a rock concert and fans really want the band to do a cover of some classic. The band is like ‘well we’re gonna play our songs then we’ll surprise em at the end with this cover they’ve been asking for’, but before they can get to the end of the set list fans start being *******s and throwing food, drinks and insults at the band. Finally the band decides to bump up the cover song on the list just to make it all stop and it turns out to be amazing something obviously rehearsed and planned since the beginning as a surprise. That’s what this situation is like to me.

Downloaded Episode 3. I'm close to deleting the game again, because of Screwball's shrill voice. Also I realized that all the likeable women in this game are gone.

MJ was always barely passable, Yuri has totally lost it in Episode 2 and Silver Sable, who we came to an understanding with, is in total b**ch mode. And then there's Screwball. God I can't wait to be done with all the DLC Episodes. I'll just finish them to unlock all the suits and then probably never look back and just continue to replay the main game.

You can believe that's the reason. I'm not so sure. 'Puddle gate' demonstrated that Insomniac aren't above twisting the truth for the sake of PR.

Two other highly requested suits were the symbiote and superior suit. Insomniac were very quick to come out and say 'they won't be in this game because we feel they deserve their own story.' And that was it, people stopped requesting them. If they simply said 'there are legal issues surrounding the suit we don't wish to discuss' things would have been different. It was beginning to look like they just didn't feel like including the Raimi suit, but they were too scared to admit it.

I already explained. Their recent tweets may as well have said 'we'll make the suits WE want, and you'll like it.' I'll give Insomniac full credit, best Spider-man game, and great game in general, but there were a few bad moves on their part that could have very well hurt the success of a potential sequel.

So my first major cutscene with the Raimi suit was during the apartment fire, where Spider-Man saves May and Miles. It looked wonderful in motion, they did a great job with the details. Perfect unintentional homage to the scene in the first movie where Spider-Man and Green Goblin fight in a burning building.

Why is the suit referred to as the "webbed suit" though?
