Insomniac did the right thing. When the vast majority of fans are all requesting the same 1-5 suits, it's just insulting to give them 30 obscure suits that no body likes.
If not for the vocal campaigners, we likely never would have got this, or the charged jump, and a bunch of things that make the game better. And to those of you saying that Insomniac shouldn't reward that behavior... Um, Insomniac are not our parents. It's not their job to teach us a lesson, and what sense does it make to punish all the Raimi fans because a few were being 'mean'?
Some of you are way too sensitive.
Vocal campaigns did get us things like the charged jump and better web swinging and that is a part of the feedback that normally goes on in development. Insomniac has done a great job of listening to the fans and it's possible the vocal campaigns did in fact get us the Raimi suit. Insomniac made it clear they planned to put this in the game early on but obviously they had to go thru a bunch of red tape to get it into the game and not discussing it with the fans was unfortunately something that came with it.
However that doesn't mean that people can be a bunch of rude pricks to the developer cause there's something they want and aren't getting it. The Raimi suit doesn't have to be in the game at all. It doesn't affect the gameplay or technical pieces of the game. Yes, it's highly desired and thank goodness Insomniac pursued this cause it sounds like they went thru some effort to make it so. And how were they treated...a bunch of whiny, impatient, rude fans sending them harsh messages and even death threats. This isn't a case of being sensitive...but if I were Insomniac I would have put this behind a pay wall or made people work for it like getting Ultimate in the Screwball challenges. They're not our parents but for some people they could use a good slap across the back of the head.
As one of the few that didnt care whether the raimi suit made it in or not, it looks great. And it's clear insomniac were trolling people from the start imo.
You mean by working towards getting the Raimi suit, having to deal with rude fans and then not being able to talk about it due to possible legal reasons...yeah, they totally trolled us.
Personally, I wanted the sensational suit more than the Raimi suit. But what ever...
People were acting like the demand for the Raimi suit was a personal attack against the individuals at Insomniac. No, criticism does not equal personal attack. Part of the frustration stems from the fact that there are so many suits in the game, which shows how little effort it requires to make a single highly desired suit. Here's an analogy, you go to a rock concert, everyone in the crowd is requesting the band play their biggest hit, and the band says '**** you, now listen to 20 songs from our latest album that everybody hated.'
But they always intended to give us the Raimi suit so this point is null. And while I agree there's definitely some other suits I'd rather see in the game over some of the ones we got, however it seems to me that to get the Raimi suit was not so easy. If it was, I see no reason why it wouldn't have been in the game from the start.
And like I've said before, people expressing their dislike over the fact that the Raimi suit wasnt in the game or making requests to have it included is totally fine. It's when people begin to become inflammatory, derogatory, rude, hateful and even sending death threats...we should be fortunate that Insomniac didn't just decide to call it quits over pursuit to get this in the game.
I could at least empathize with people who were being rude because they shelled out money for something that ended up being broken and when they contacted the company that made it, got no response.
