Oh yeah?!?! Well....I...

Sorry. I was looking at your avatar pic, which is awesome.

Anyways, yeah, there were a FEW that I can say actually hated all along, but I don't see many of the more vehement ones around. I do see a lot of people who were all about some Raimi now hatng on him. It's just annoying how quickly public opinion completely flips...and the internet is like a flap-jack in that respect. It flips almost hourly.

That is definitely true. I've always been one of those weird guys who liked SM1 much more then SM2. I was never a big fan of the second Spidey film. I recognize it's a very good movie, great movie in fact, but as a Spider-man adaptation I've never been big on it.

When I voiced my opinions against it way back in '05 when I first joined, I got flamed to holy hell. After SM3, I suddenly found lots of people agreed with me. And the funny thing was, I didn't think SM3 was that bad.

A good amount. Some of which are people who used to like his films, but jumped on the hate bandwagon in anticipation for this version. You know how it is with certain fanboys, they love something and will drop it like an old toy for the new thing.
...or you just can't take it when people realize that they're watching a mediocre film. It happens when you start to see characters and films based on other properties (Harry Potter, The Dark Knight, Lord of the Rings) with a lot more quality in story-telling, writing, direction, villains and key characters. It's what happens when you cater your movie only to children, then they grow up, and now you're left with why they don't like it anymore. I'm not even gonna get into the horrible CGI, characterization, direction and simplistically small scope of the Spider-Man films. The classic suit can't save a movie, if it could, I would like Spider-Man 1-3 over The Dark Knight.

I don't want to derail this thread, but while I'm not a huge supporter of the Raimi films, saying they have horrible CGI is a bit much. At times the CGI wasn't great, and then at times it was simply fantastic. SM2 is possibly my least favorite Spider-man film, but even I still say that the train sequence is easily the best action sequence in a comic book film. Heck, one of the best action sequences in a movie period. The CGI in that was phenomenal.

Which movie are you talking about?

Sadly, I saw the mediocre film making of SM3 in SM1 and SM2, as well. SM3 just had it on a much grander scale. It was there, festering like sore full of pus, SM3 was its oozing point. I thought, let's see them deny it now.

Man, I've agreed with you about plenty of stuff on this board. I can identify with the fact that you care about the character a lot, and you want movies that will properly represent the stories you're so passionate about. But when you take your dislike of the Raimi trilogy so far as to not only assert that the suit was the ONLY good thing in any of them, but to go into really graphic descriptions of the third one as an infected pimple, I can understand where some people would be put off. When people defend the Raimi movies, you attack them for defending mediocrity and not seeing things as they really are. It gets old.

i was never a huge fan of the Raimi films, never have been and never will be. Theres always something in each film thats missing to make it good. Yes, im saying this as someone whos never really cared for the Raimi films, which is why this reboot is needed. I seriously walked out of SM, SM2, and SM3 really bored. Those films never caught my interest.

I'm not saying they're flawless. I also understand that they're not everybody's thing, and not everybody enjoys them. But I think when people make a sport out of trashing them and the fools who enjoy them, it's obnoxious and needless.

all im saying is, there are certain people you dont hand ideas to. I look at Spider-Man and compare it to Raimi Spider-Man, not just by costume, but actions and personality. I honestly thought he trashed the character for what he really is

It's needed, trust me. If you disagree then say so and move on. My skin is as thick as the Rhino's ass. Why does it bother people so much, disagreeing is the grand part of these boards?

i guess we all have to be on one thing, like the fact that Daredevil sucked. i agree, Spider-Man needed a reboot. whats so hard with people knowing the reasons why?

No...no it's not. You make yourself look like an ass...like right now. You're opinion isn't fact, and that's that.

Nice way to avoid the actual point. You see, it has nothign to do with ANYBODY growing up and getting sick of the films. Half the people who jumped the bandwagon were in their late teens when S-M3 came out, so that's just BS. it's simple as this. Once something bad happens, the person turns on the series like it was bad along. Anybody with eyes and a brain can see it so clearly. What if Webb messes up(I hope not)? You'll be criticizing him to.

To say that SM1 and SM2 are mediocre films is fairly silly, in my opinion anyway. I'm not a big fan of SM2, but I can still realize that it's a very well made movie. A mediocre adaptation I would agree with, but mediocre film? Not in the least.

What is needed, exactly? Expressing one's opinion of a film, or, as the OP said?

when people make a sport out of trashing them and the fools who enjoy them

Honestly, neither is needed (regardless where your opinion lies). One is expected and meant to be respected. The other is just juvenile.

look at those eye lenses :barf:

Spidey10.png

hur dur ?

I don't like this costume at all : / what were they thinking??

it seems like the director wanted us to see Peters Eyes, doesnt it look like the lenses show his eyes?

the lenses look way to high up on the mask too..and bubbled out. i thought the eyes would have been bigger. would have been best to have the lenses bigger at the buttom towards the cheek bones. i'm an artist and sometimes make costumes.very unflattering design.

the costume looks pretty awful. the shoes? what the heck. i didnt like that about the original costume how he looked like he was wearing sneakers under the lycra...spideys feet should be visible through the spandex like how socks look on feet, so he can grasp and stick to walls for flexible feet grip.

i can go on about how lame the suit is but whatever. hollywood got the original spidey flicks ass backwards. no difference here.

you complain about the costume and how stupid it looks, and then you have the balls to say you want spidey's boots to be see-through

Well then his comment deserves a rofl.

I'll second that. Amazing how the Spidey films are now mediocre. What will they do if the new one sucks? Go back and praise Raimi and say that they, "Loved him all along"? Probably.:whatever:

not see through dumbass:whatever:

like this :o

see how the spandex goes down to the tips of his toe?? so his feet are very flexible and can grip like his hands is what i meant.
like that, not like a hard boot with silver on it or ramis with a sneaker stuffed in it

You saw them as mediocre. Quit referring to it as fact or telling other people what they should think of them when almost everyone disagrees with you, fans and critics alike.
