You don't think being an orphan, outsider, and bullied would compound to make him troubled?

Good point.

Oh well, better than crying about it all the time.

You guys, we're being so civil. This is awesome. I would give out hugs if I could.

Such a normally touchy subject too. The mods should give us a gold star or something.

Agreed about the JMS Spider-Man. I personally loved Peter being married, as it meant he was overcoming the obstacles in his life as he matured. He learned and he grew, like a real person. That heightened his relatability as an everyman character.
Indeed. I related the most to the more matured Peter, which is one of the many reasons I also related a lot to Tobey's Peter Parker.

See, I can't relate to the married Peter at all. I'm a college kid and I feel like I'll be able to see a lot of myself in Peter in TASM. Who knows though SMH12, Peter might eveolve into the older more mature Peter by the trilogy's end. That'd be cool actually. We start out with the USM Peter and he slowly grows into the 70s/80s ASM Peter.

That might be interesting.

I think it'd be really cool. Especially if the death of Gwen Stacy arc plays out. Peter grows and matures to the point where he's ready to ask her to marry him but she gets killed before he gets the chance.

That could work.

I'm assuming Gwen gets killed in the next one. Wouldn't he be a little young to propose? He'd be just out of high school (depending on the time gap).

I would really like that too. Have Peter in high school this film, college next, and either out of college or about to graduate in the third. Seeing him grow like that would be awesome.

Nope, I'm thinking Gwen dies in the 3rd. I really see them taking a tragic route with this trilogy. Who knows though, thy might make a 4th with MJ being the love interest if all parties are interested.

I'd say leave one or more films for after Gwen dies, and have the symbiote come down to Earth in the next film after her death.

Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis.

That could make for some great drama having a mourning Peter get the black suit.

Keeping this trilogy true to the Gwen Stacy arc would be as groundbreaking as the original comic storyline itself. Having the main love interest killed off in the middle of the final film would be absolutely insane. But in an awesome way.

That's my idea.

But why end there? Why kill off the love interest if you aren't going to explore the aftermath?

I dunno. I think it could go either way. I'd like it if,

A. She dies at the end of the third with a flash forward featuring Mary Jane.

or

B. She dies at the VERY end of the second, and the third picks up with Gwen still in Peter's arms. a la Dexter season 4/5.

What about kill her off in the climax of the second, followed by Norman's death (assuming we're adapting her death from the 616 comics).

I really want this to happen. Imagine how awesome it would be in the hands of Webb and Garfield. Get a good writer and it could be oscar worthy stuff. Of course the Academy would never recognize it, I'm not delusional.

It'd be too similar to SM1. Yes, I went there. I mean sure, Gwen dying makes it hugely different but I dunno I feel like the dumb GA would feel it was the same song and dance.
