Why is it that people can accept that there can be other movies beside Spider-Man? It's mind boggling.

Spider-Man 3 comes out on May 4

Shrek 3 - 18

Pirates of the Carriban May 25

----

Pirates of the Carribean isnt the problem for Spider-Man 3 it's also Shrek 3,and by the time Priates of the Carribean 3 comes out, Spidr-Man 3 will be struggling......

But for the 2 weeks Spider-Man 3 basically has for it self it will do amazingly well...unless dates are changed for POTC 3.....

Another thing that proves that Spidey 3 can make more than POTC 2 opening weekend (if they stick with the 3 day opening): People applaud the teaser. Seriously, the audience actually APPLAUDS a 1-and-a-half minute teaser trailer. I don't remember hearing any applause for anything POTC.

That obviously says something.

Superman Returns had a standing ovation at Comic Con.......

we all know how well superman is doing compared to what he should be doing....

:supes: :down

That's some big competition, but the nice part about Spidey 3 is, it will have 2 weeks to itself, Shrek 3/Pirates 3 won't. However, Pirates and Shrek is very family oriented fun (little to no violence)...so they can still beat Spidey 3.

Argh, somehow this "long-ass dry movie" shattered web-boys records. Me thinks you were the only one asleep at the theater, matey!

Probably but I've said I'll see the movie again just to make sure it wasn't just me having an unusual crappy cinema experience.

The people that go to Comic Con are, after all, a minority of the viewers. I'm talking about random, everyday folks.

I completely disagree, granted that if the movie turns out to be as good as the teaser trailer makes it out to be then sm3 will have no problem going up against shrek 3 and potc3 simulateously.

Yup. POTC2 trailers got applause at my theater when they were shown awhile back.

Spider-Man 3 seems like it will be kocked of the box office because the sheer number of big hits coming after it's release.

Shrek 3 - May 18
POTC3 - May 25

June 8 -Ocean's Thirteen
June 15 - Fantastic Four 2

Junne 22 - Evan Almigty
July 4 - Transformers

July 13 - Harry Potter
The Simpons in July

in August:Bourne Ultmatum, Rush Hour 3, AVP 2/

I don't expect a long theatre run for Spider-Man 3. To many blockbusters coming out.....

The only movie that will approach Spidey 3 is POTC3. And they will both make money. The rest is nothing, now matter how good they'll be.

This isnt a thread about how good a movie is, and we all know how good movies dont always get what tehy deserve......

Teaser Trailers are mean to be Bad a$$. They are suppsoed to make the movies look good.

With POTC2 record breaking opeing and everybody wanting to see it sure wil hurt Spider-Man 3 in POTC2 opening week

Spider-Man 3 will crumble after its first fewweeks were it could break records andmakealot, but when POTC 3 Comes.

BAMM!!!!!

SPIDEY SPLATTERS!!!!

 :spidey: :( :down

I guess you think that the mammoth that may be Shrek 3 is nothing, then?

Your absolutely wrong DC fanboy. Spidey 3 will not crumble.

Yup. In face of that sort of competition, it'll fail!

Your missing my point.

The past spidey movies were mediocre imo but did well because they were marketed right. However, imo they weren't good enough for multiple viewings, so for arguments sake, taking into account that the spidey movies had little to no repeat viewings and made tonnes of money, imagine if sm3 as good as the trailer makes it out to be was that good. Not only are similar figures bound to be reached but repeat viewings is pretty much guaranteed and I honestly believe this will happen.

sm3 looks as though its got a captivating story, which is a bonus in itself and on top of that we've got 3 to 4 villains in this movie. Harry's story comes full circle, which people have been waiting for since 2002, we've got sandman and the biggest of them all, venom. I dont know why but people underestimate the influence venom will have on this movie, trust me, venom will fill seats for sm3 and granted that the story is great and the action will be plenty and jaw-droppinly insane not only will sm3 race ahead upon release but it will hold its own against the competition. Mark my words and this time next year, I'll quote myself on this because imo it will happen. 20007? sm3 has no competition.:o

The thing that worries me about Venom in this movie is Sony and Sam marketing of him or lack there of , their so hush hush about him which is probably no big deal for comic book fans , but the thing is , 90% of the people who go to the movies in general are not comic book fans and have no idea who Venom is , if Spider-man 3 is gonna reach gigantic proportions , they need to be flashing Venom all over the place for the average movie goer to see and not worry so much about teasing the selected few who already know who he is

Contrary to your fears, venom will be marketed like crazy, post comicon.

There is really no need to advertise Venom. The less we get, adds to the anticipation and excitement of waiting to finally see him. With all of that anticipation out there, the common movie goer is going to hear so much about Venom, like they are now, that they will greatly be anticipating a character that they no little about. It's call jumping on the Venom hype bandwagon.

Yeah and thats what sony want. The more people that jump on the bandwagon the better. That equates to interest and profit. When it comes to marketing spider-man, sony go all out, leaving nothing to chance.

Really? Because for me at least:

1)Nobody clapped at the teaser.
2)POTC got a standing ovation at the end (For all three showings I've been to).

Your argument is flawed.

No he won't be! He's the big secret. This is the only board that knows about him. Everywhere else, they think he's a cliffhanger!

I dont know, i think we are going to see new, never-before-seen box office numbers when Spider-Man 3 is released. This is the third and possibly final Spider-Man film(regardless of what you might think, until the 4th is in production, there is no 4th). I really dont see any of those movies topping SM3 in b.o numbers.

Yeah that actually is true. Either that or they think they saw him in the trailer.

I'm afraid you are sadly mistaken my friend CardPlayer. Go over to AICN, and I have seen others who knows.
