If the timeline diverged when Nero went back in time, then why does [BLACKOUT]Khan[/BLACKOUT] look and sound completely different when [BLACKOUT]he and his crew aboard the Botany Bay were put into cryostasis[/BLACKOUT] well before that happened?

You're exactly right. It's misdirection. I doubt Harrison is even alluding to the [blackout]Botany Bay[/blackout].

So the answer is [BLACKOUT]___72___[/BLACKOUT]? I thought it was [BLACKOUT]___42___[/BLACKOUT]?

;)

What is the significance of that number? And who the hell would approve such bad writing?

"I have been authorized to end you!"

Wow, seriously?

Wow, seriously?

It is the number
of survivors the Enterprise picked up from the Botany Bay in the original series episode "Space Seed"
. Whether or not that is it's significance in this film, I can only speculate.

there's nothing really wrong with that line.

Sounds fine to me.

Just got my Season 3 of TNG on Blu-ray can't wait for STID now.

Villains really like to draw out their last syllables, don't they? That is this year's Inception bwong.

Star Trek Into Darkness has given me a whole new reason\to love "Trek", Dr. Carol Marcus played by Alice Eve. Man she's so beautiful, and I love the fact that she gets to use her natural british accent. I love a woman with a british accent.

Now that's a poster!

I was getting really sick of all the purposely non-Trek Trek posters.

ALSO:

A new clip, featuring CAROL AND KIRK'S FIRST MEETING. Notice Spock's jealousy and Bones' funny behavior in the background:

Also, here's a video profile of Simon Pegg's Scotty. It features some new and funny never-before-seen footage.

"Do you have any idea how ridiculous it is to hide a starship on the bottom of the ocean?!?!"

OVERALL, what did you think of the film, and how does it compare to the first one?

What were the postives and negatives?

With Cumberbatch [BLACKOUT]do they explain the physical and ethnicity change between his Khan and Ricardo, or is it a change on artistic license?[/BLACKOUT]

How big of a role do the Klingons play? Was there a main Klingon baddie, or were they all just nameless soldiers?

Thanks

Overall i liked it a lot more than the first one.

there were a lot of hat-tips to the old movies which was nice to see. Cumberbatch was a huge scene stealer and basically kicked all kinds of ass!

more answers/comments below if you care to view - some definite spoilers etc so please read at your own risk but ill try not to give toooooo much away!

cheers!

they did a good job of explaining the origins of his people. he was one of 72(?) frozen bodies discovered by the head of the Federation (peter wellers character) and was woken (only him) up knowing they were a superior being. His blood is a key part of the plotline due to its regen powers. there was some artistic license i guess.

as far as the klingons - very little screen time. basically they are only in one scene where after Khan escapes he hides on a uninhabited part of the main klingon planet. when kirk et al pursue him, they are intercepted by klingons at this point, are forced to land, and basically khan appears, kicks major ass n takes out a squad of about 25 or so klingons all by himself. scene is BAD ASS.

but thats basically all you see of the klingons. although the team leader takes off his helmet when talking to uhura so you see a few really good shots of their faces - they did a good job there.
