it was being built by the leader of starfleet at a location hidden on the other side of a planet (not sure which) but it was being built in secret as the admiral wanted to turn starfleet into an aggressive force vs. a peace keeping force as he believe war with the klingons is inevitable and they need to prepare.
he name is marcus, but she faked her name to get onto the enterprise in order to investigate some suspicions around her fathers intentions with the mission they are on. spock exposed her and then, thankfully, she exposed herself.... very nicely too i might add :P
there were a lot of hat-tips to the old movies which was nice to see. Cumberbatch was a huge scene stealer and basically kicked all kinds of ass!
more answers/comments below if you care to view - some definite spoilers etc so please read at your own risk but ill try not to give toooooo much away!
cheers!
they did a good job of explaining the origins of his people. he was one of 72(?) frozen bodies discovered by the head of the Federation (peter wellers character) and was woken (only him) up knowing they were a superior being. His blood is a key part of the plotline due to its regen powers. there was some artistic license i guess.
as far as the klingons - very little screen time. basically they are only in one scene where after Khan escapes he hides on a uninhabited part of the main klingon planet. when kirk et al pursue him, they are intercepted by klingons at this point, are forced to land, and basically khan appears, kicks major ass n takes out a squad of about 25 or so klingons all by himself. scene is BAD ASS.
but thats basically all you see of the klingons. although the team leader takes off his helmet when talking to uhura so you see a few really good shots of their faces - they did a good job there.
