Why not just make a Star Trek movie where the crew can do Star Trek things?

You may have to wait till third film assuming paramount doesn't try to wait on Abrams.

Wow, this is starting to feel like origin mark 2.

Why not just make a Star Trek movie where the crew can do Star Trek things?
Because no one got time fo dat!

Abrams used a big event roller coaster ride/Christopher Nolan style formula for these movies so that's what they are going with.

Christopher Nolan? I'd say he used the Star Wars formula for these movies and Thank him for that.

Like you know Christopher Nolan as in Nolan's big event movie style. Big locations lots of blaring horns, etc.

Latest trailer really emphasizes the fun. And it made me smile, so mission accomplished. :)

Sigh, I know it's going to be a good movie in the end, but the new trailer was dumb.

Saw the new trailer/spot with Oz, pretty good.

Love Trek, really dug the last one. But other than the initial burst of excitement the first few times I watched the first trailer... After that, and including the SuperBowl spot and this new trailer... All I can muster is 'Meh'. It's just not doing anything for me.

But, I'll see it first week. :D

I liked the trailer, but I have a feeling people who didn't like the action focus in the first film, or just didn't like the first film in general, will dislike this one even more.

Hey here is something I don't get JJ Abrams:

You spend all this time being mister secret agent everything is a secret and hush hush about this project.

And then you screen half an hour of the movie to the press who then proceed to spill all the beans about all the footage and reveal a lot of things you were keeping secret before.

So then umm. . . why screen all that footage two months out if you want to keep it a secret?

Because the movie is two months away and it's time to get people talking. Why would you waste all that good word of mouth by giving everything away six months ago?

I'm not talking about six months ago. I'm talking about all the way up until now. I mean they did the IMAX screening with The Hobbit. They have trailers and TV spots. Usually the media doesn't get screened a whole half hour of a project like this before it comes out.

I'm guessing the half hour of clips was edited in such a way to give viewers a certain impression of what the plot will be, only for the actual plot to turn out a bit differently. It's certainly going to offer a few surprises.

They had 25 or 30 minutes of the first movie being shown around the country six months ahead of time, so none of that content was kept secret. I think a month out they were showing the entire thing, but the press probably couldn't divulge much. I forget now.
