Personally, I don't like the marketing for STID thus far, which includes the generic posters. After hearing what Paramont had to say about 'avoiding the Trekiness for the international crowd', now it makes sense.
The first film had a much better, more poetic (if that makes sense) marketing campaign.
If you look closely you can see venom in the blood
I see where you're coming from. For awhile I've thought that Trek fans who didn't like ST09 will dislike this movie even more for similar reasons. However, now I'm really thinking that this movie will surprise people. They more or less will know what to expect with Abrams' style and his "Trekverse".
Maybe it'll deliver those cerebral, thoughtful, poignant moments of the original series and films that many felt 09 lacked.
Yeah, the film may surprise us all. But the marketing especially the posters are so derivative of other films, it hurts. The trailers are fine but nothing has touched the beauty that was Star Trek 09's final trailer.
Woah. I didn't think I could get more excited for this movie. I was wrong.
Really think this movie is going to tug on the heart strings...damn.
Yes.

My guess is that Harrison is from the future and that's where he got it.
