Star Trek Into Darkness - Part 5

There weren't any "blond chicks" in the original episode, but there was a woman on the Enterprise crew who fell in love with Khan and helped him sabatoge the Enterprise. At the end, she agreed to be marooned with Khan and the others, where she became his wife. When Khan is found in Wrath of Khan, it's revealed that she died. I believe they had a son as well.

The blond woman in Wrath of Khan was a scientist named Carol Marcus, who had a history with Kirk (they had a son together, David, who didn't know that he was Kirk's son until the events of Wrath of Khan). The same character is introduced in the new film.
I meant Marla, in my memory i thought she was blonde, probably confused het with Gary Mitchell's "girlfriend"

I really, really liked this film. To the point that when it ended that I couldn't believe it was actually over 2 hours. It just flew by. No clunky middles bits like the first film. The action was beautiful, the story simple, yet compelling and the comedy was spot-on. The crews chemistry is so great. No one beats McCoy though. Urban is the man. Eve is a great addition.

Also, I fell in love with the adorable blond on the Enterprise deck.

When the android first spoke, I was like "WTF"? :funny:

Then the alien just popped up on the bridge. I thought it was cool to see other races, but it felt a tiny bit random because I honestly don't remember seeing any of them outside of their close ups.

I remember seeing the crispy alien girl in the first one

Yeah but those she appear or not? And is the blonde girl from the trailer a character from the old show?

Already answered that before:

2013 Carol Marcus resembles Sally Kellerman's character from Where No Man Has Gone Before. Early photos led to a lot of speculation that she would be in this movie. Marcus never appeared in the original series. She was introduced in WOK, though she MAY have been speculated about in the same original episode when Mitchell mentions the "little blonde lab technician".

Uhura and Bones definitely. Sulu and Chekov not so much. Maybe next time.

Chekov is made chief engineer and does more than sit next to Sulu and Sulu is given command of the ship

They weren't in the movie much, is what I was talking about.

I would say every main crew member is given at least one moment where they really shine. Sulu and Chekov the least but still really good.

And something new to do as well. I was just watching Star Trek VI on SyFy today, and...

...there's a scene where they're trying sneak the Enterprise past the Klingons, and they're all trying to learn to speak Klingon from a pile of books, including Uhura. It was a funny scene, but in the new movie, Uhura speaks someone awesome Klingon.

And there was Chekov wearing the red shirt and taking over engineering, and Sulu getting his turn in the chair. His "we're not going anywhere!" was pretty badass too.

The earlier movies had those problems too, trying to give time to everyone, but I thought they did all right here.

What was also different was that they put Kirk and [BLACKOUT]Khan in the same room. In WoK, they were facing off from opposite ships and spoke to each other via screens. Seeing the two of them (briefly) work together was wild. [/BLACKOUT]

I remember after the first one came out I was saying I hope they give Uhura something to do in the next one (besides kiss Spock), like maybe use her linguistic skills. Someone on another board disagreed saying it would be boring and bring a halt to the action... I wonder what he thinks of this (if he's seen it).

Really good read at AintItCoolNews. I recommend people check it out.

Wow, that was some review. I can totally see where he is coming from. Of course, he did mess up about the issue with [blackout]transwarp beaming. Scotty said that Starfleet confiscated it from him.[/blackout] Still, the review was spot on.

Whether you like the film or not, you have to admit the title allows for some pretty good, derisive puns like "Star Trek Into Dumbness" and Star Trek II:
The Wrath of Ret-Khan
:oldrazz:

This one was Tweeted to Orci and Lendelof with the message that they should be tried for high crimes against Star Trek. :woot:

Star Trek Into Darkness was borderline perfect. Easy 9.5 out of 10.

Spock totally owned in this movie.

Agree. The whole cast of characters were excellent, but I ended up loving Spock the most, again. Just wished we got a bit more green blood. I think it's kind of neat.

Just got back from seeing it and thought it was fantastic. I was certainly glad I had watched through some of the earlier films and my wife is asking to rewatch one, too. Great pace, great action, the characters were given the time they needed (for the most part), and an all around fun ride. I ended up seeing it in 3D because of me being stupid and forgetting the right time for the movie (something I have never done before), but kinda glad I did as it was used well in the film. Going to see it again next week, for sure.

Saw it today. I thought it was really great. Exciting from start to finish and the characters and acting were great. :)
