Star Wars 2.0 - Part 1.5 Chapter III: Revenge of the Thread - Part 4

I watched ROTS tonight and I have to say I enjoyed Grievous more on this viewing, the first time around he just seemed a foil for the tech that would be used to save Anakin.

His initial scene where he coughs and splutters and his two henchdroids do the fighting is ok, but it's his battle and chase and battle (in that order lol) with Obi Wan that is when he's at his best, and I love the fact Obi Wan stops him just before he gets to his ship and then uses said ship to escape. The line about the blaster after he shoots him is great as well. :D

On a side note I couldn't help but laugh when The Emperor finds what is left of Anakin and proclaims "He's alive!" as he lay there with no legs, half an arm, no flesh and two eyes. I half expected Palps to shout down to him "It's just a flesh wound, some sticking plasters and savlon and we'll have you fixed in a jiffy!" :lmao:

"Tis but a scratch!" :funny:

ROTS is the only one I haven't watched yet, I got home to late to start it tonight like I planned. Gonna watch it after work tomorrow night, I can't wait.

I did watch AOTC today. I haven't seen it in awhile...I had forgotten how badass Yoda was with a lightsaber.

Carrie Fisher is hilarious in these commentaries. :hehe:

"The thing that killed me about this was, you put me in the bathing suit, and I shut up forever. I'm very defiant with everyone else, but this slug really shuts me up. I don't say anything. I don't say anything. I don't say anythiiiiinnggg...."

And godDAMN the puppeteering for Jedi is off the charts. The Rancor in moments and Jabba always come across as 'real', never taking me out of the movie.

They needed a counter balance to his voice

Exactly. Nobody had the nuts to stop and go "You know, George...I'm not really sure about this 'Yipee' line..."

And, IMO, that issue continues to be the main problem with the franchise.

Fixed.

Hopefully you don't have an aneurysm towards me, too. :awesome:
Haha of course I won't. I couldn't agree more. Lucas directed AND wrote the scripts for Prequels, so less Lucas would have meant a different director and screenwriter (and possibly even a... *gasp* script editor! :wow:).

Quiclk question, does Grievous starfighter have a name?

*Palps breaks out the band aids* :D

I'm going in order so it's ANH for me tomorrow night.

Yoda in action is awesome, I think his battle with The Emperor in ROTS is the best piece of Yoda action. What did you think of the Airspeeder chase over Coruscant on Blu?

Did anyone else think that Obi Wan behaved like an A-hole by just leaving Anakin to die all burnt up like that, and just after his sob story about him loving Anakin like a brother?

According to Wookieepedia, his Clone Wars-era starfighter is the Malevolence--and the ship he kidnapped Palpatine with was the Invisible Hand.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised he didn't put him out of his misery. Of course, I thought the fight was going to end with Anakin not making it off that plank-thing going over the lava-fall and Obi-Wan thinking he was dead.

I saw Carrie Fisher's one-woman show Wishful Drinking on Broadway awhile back, and I almost can't watch anything she does in Star Wars the same anymore. :funny:

She made fun of her almost-British accent in the first movie, she went off on the dialogue and how Lucas wouldn't let her have cleavage in the first movie ("there was no underwear in space!"), how they all signed over their likenesses so that every time she looks in the mirror she has to give Lucas $5.
The funniest was when she explained how she was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder in her 40s, which was so unusual (it's usually caught much earlier) that it ended up in a medical journal along with a picture. They put the page of the medical journal on a screen onstage...it was a picture of Princess Leia.

She shouted, "See? I'm not crazy! That b**** is!" :lmao:

I think the show is out on DVD, definitely see it if you get a chance, she's terrific.

The airspeeder chase looked awesome! I love the Obi-Wan/Anakin banter dialogue in that scene too, I wish the prequels had more of that between them.

I love the Yoda/Emperor fight in ROTS, I can't wait to watch that scene again. Actually my favorite part was when Yoda Force-slammed the two guards when he walked into the room.

I watched the OT first, then started on the prequels...mostly because I just wanted to see the OT first, but I'm actually finding that I like watching them in that order.

Not really, I think he was emotionally spent and couldn't bring himself to strike a death blow. As it turns out that was a fatal error in judgment.

According to Wookieepedia, his Clone Wars-era starfighter is the Malevolence--and the ship he kidnapped Palpatine with was the Invisible Hand.

Thanks. That's these two right?

I was wondering about his solo starfighter though.

That may actually be becoming my favourite action sequence in the entire saga, just great on so many levels.

Haha! I literally laughed out loud at how nonchalantly Yoda disposed of those two guards. :D

I decided to go chronological, the one thing I can't do though is just watch one film from the saga as I can with Terminator, Aliens or Indy etc.... If I start I have to watch right through.

After watching all 3 prequels again in a row for the first time in a long time. I never realized how much of a evil mastermind Palpatine is. His whole plot basically the silent backbone of the prequels is freakin great.

YES the prequels needed a better director, but above all else, they needed a better writer.

They did need better writing. But do you think that it was really possible to recreate the same tone and feelings that the OT created in the 1980s, a lot of cultural and technological changes have developed since then. I don't know if the black and white conflict of Star Wars really stands out today as much as it did except in a Disney movie. I really didn't ever see a need for a prequel trilogy. Honestly one EU novel or flashbacks added to the three movies could have explained it just as well. The obvious reason Lucas even returned to the backstory was to keep up his cash flow and grow the franchise and his special effects department, that's all.

Or maybe he wanted to tell the prequel stories. But of course since it didn't live up to your expectations he was only doing it for the money.

I just finished ROTS. The poster above, I disagree with so much...I do.

See, I did like a Yoda thing.

Lucas wanted to make the prequels since Empire Strikes Back, you see, that's why the title Episode V appeared in the original movie too

To anybody who's seen ROTJ on blu-ray

...and this is not regarding Vader's "no"...

...is Hayden still Anakin's ghost?

I watched AOTS last night after a rough day of my Ravens loosing and I reallly dont like the forced love story here with anakin and padme, I never realized ethier how poorly Natalie acted in this one, kinda like she was just going through the motions. Some effects 2 on AOTS look severely dated and Maybe it was me but didnt anyone else think it had a fuzzy or blurry like quality?

one of the redeeming qualities of the prequels was palpatines story, like an unknown danger gentley under the surface slowly building. Granted it all came crashing down when Ian went over the top in ROTS after his face burn.

Yes.

The "No" addition to ROTJ is the definition of unnecessary. I understood in the original that Darth Vader was at a cross roads without the assistance of a corn ball yell of the word No.

It was such a great moment now they've completely sucked the tone and feeling from that scene. Which funny enough was far deeper without that stupid yelp.

While the movies looked incredibly beautiful in the blu ray, additions like that are unnecessary and this is coming from someone who liked the 2004 re-release for the most part.

He was ridiculously perfect in Revenge of the Sith up until his face gets burnt. Everything about his performance just oozed slimy, politician manipulating everything. Especially that opera scene, something about him is so creepy but then once he starts fighting Mace he begins to have all these really weird facial expressions and its like man what are you doing.
