Anybody else liking the way Anakin has been portrayed in the show? I think that he now seems like the kind of guy that could turn into somebody as cool as Darth Vader

oh yeah. The show potrays him MUCH better. He's more mature and easier to take seriously....all I can think of when I think of Anakin from the PT films is a whiney, obsessed brat.

I don't think it has anything to do with length. It is simply characterization. First season Anakin is much, much better then his movie counterpart. The CW shows Anakin for the heroic, badass knight he is suppose to be. Yes he is underpowered a lot of the time and made to look an idiot others, but overall it is just much, much better.
I just think that the way he's portrayed in the show is how he should have been portrayed in the movies. Now I'm fine with what the movies did with his character, but the show to me just portrayed him way better, and how I think Lucas should have had him like in the movies.

One of the main problem fans had with the prequels was Anakin and there were a lot of disapointments with Darth Vader being like that in his youth, now in the show he's brave, heroic, but still has a dark side inside of him and will be ready to kill if necessary. This is one of those examples where the Expanded Universe enhances the saga.

I don't really have much problem with how they handled Anakin in TPM, other then the fact that he didn't seem to be much of a slave, but the idea was sound and it was good ground work for a strong, moral and yet flawed young prodigy. The problem was AOTC and ROTS where he turned into a whiny, weak fool. It is kind of pathetic that little Annie had more of a moral compass and backbone then adult Anakin.

I told my friend he is allowed to cry during Jurassic Park if I am allowed to cry during E.T.
That's a fair trade lol

I like how he's portrayed in the show. I kind of think that he's better portrayed in the show then in the PT. Would you agree? I guess though that's because the show is on it's 5th season, and we only had 3 prequel movies.
I do think that's a factor. It's easier to explore characterization in 4 (going on 5) seasons than in just the movies imo. There's more time to explore the different sides of Anakin. I always saw Anakin as a flawed individual with serious emotional issues lol, so while i did have some issues with some scenes in the PT, i gotta say it didnt bother me as much as it did other fans. I felt fine with his turn, because i saw it building from the moment we met him. I'm glad that we have the CW though, i've enjoyed going even deeper into his head, and showing his heroic side and relationship with Obi-Wan as well.

I honestly think what i'm most excited for in CW season 5 is lightsaber wielding Sidious :woot: i loooove the cackling! Bring on September 29 :jedi

Yeah, I had no problem with how Anakin was depicted in the moives, and I agree with what you posted. The CW is great for many reasons, but I really like how they've shown, and developed Anakin, and Obi's friendship.

I can't wait for season 5 to start either. It's going to be really awesome! Sidious with the lightsaber's will be great. I can't wait to see how Maul reacts to seeing Sidious after all this time. Plus the Mando's, and the Clone Commando!

Personally I was never too bothered by Anakin in AOTC and ROTS, I may actually prefer the AOTC version. The Clone Wars really helps flesh out Anakin's character though which I love. The EU helps make him much more likable as well. I only wish The Clone Wars had the Episode II looks of the characters in the beginning.

TV and comic books are great for really digging deep and fleshing out characters. In Tv even supporting characters get fleshed out and developed over time like Commander Rex, Cody and others.

I think Rex first appeared in The Clone Wars film/series and didn't exist in the EU before then.

I guess Ventress is back to her dark ways? Nice helmet shes got.

From the footage it looks like she is specifically targetting Ahsoka, maybe to try and turn her away from the Jedi?

That Mando looks wicked! I wonder if it's Maul himself? It's not Pre Vizsla because we see him in his normal armor throughout the trailer. Plus didn't it look like this Mando was fighting Vizsla?

I'm pretty sure it is Maul in the armor and [BLACKOUT]apparently Maul fights Vizsla for control of the Mandos[/BLACKOUT].

Awesome!! It'll be great seeing his episode. It looked like he was retired maybe, but they try to get him to come back, and he decides to do it. Man, he looks cool! Now I can't wait to see what they have Fives up to this season.

That's one of the arcs I am most looking forward to, it does look like he's been downed somewhere and out of the war for a while when the war creeps back up on him. I love the 5 markings on his helmet.

Okay, I gotcha, that's how I understood it too. I wonder if Sidious actually knew him or if he was before Sidious' time?

I figured he went back a ways, possibly a name Dooku came up with using?

No problem. Maybe in the future one of the companies will make a Hardeen bust of something. I mean that was a popular arc, maybe in the future.

I think the best bet is Gentle Giant doing a line of Clone Wars busts.

Yeah, I can see it like that. Wasn't Lando in first, and then Leia? I don't think Leia was apart of Luke's plan, but Lando was.

Yeah Lando seemed to be the first to get installed undercover, probably because he knew that world better than the others. It was like Luke had pieces in play but no exact plan.

Definitely see the biker scout design in it.

I'd love to see more of the forerunners to the Biker Scouts in the Clone Wars.

Ventress doesn't seem to be killing anyone in the trailer. Looks like she is slicing up blasters on purpose. Makes me wonder about her intent.

Indeed Fives. I like how they've shown more of the Anakin/Obi dynamic. It's just been real fun to me getting to know the characters better this way, and of course, some of the new characters have been great.

I love Rex. I think it's safe to say he's become one of my favorite clones :woot:

The only clone I like more then Rex is Captain Fordo. The baddest of all the clones.

From the footage it looks like she is specifically targetting Ahsoka, maybe to try and turn her away from the Jedi?
I wonder, because that one point in the trailer looks like Ventress has her down, with her duel sabers at her neck, so I wonder what she's up to now?

I'm pretty sure it is Maul in the armor and [BLACKOUT]apparently Maul fights Vizsla for control of the Mandos[/BLACKOUT].
I thought it might be Maul in armor. If so cool. That'll be awesome if that happens, and we see a bit of the fight in the trailer.

Yeah, I can't wait. He looks like a badass. Those kill number marks all over his helmet are cool. That should be a great arc.

A lof of the SW character busts are really cool, and I wouldn't mind getting some eventually.

Yeah Lando seemed to be the first to get installed undercover, probably because he knew that world better than the others. It was like Luke had pieces in play but no exact plan.
Yeah, I agree. I think he had a few plans, but didn't know which would end up working, but was ready to go either way.

I'd love to see more of the forerunners to the Biker Scouts in the Clone Wars.
That'd be real cool to see.

Man the John Williams concert was amazing....He starts off with the Olympics theme set to scenes from this past summer Olympics...goes into Warhorse...then he does the duel theme from Tin Tin....set to scenes from every movie where someone fought someone else with a sword...Star Wars, Peter Pan, Princess Bride, Zorro, Robin Hood...it was awesome

After a quick intermission he goes into the Superman march (MOS is gonna have its hands full replacing that theme).
Then he does Marion's theme from Raiders....
...a song from Amistad
and then he launched into Duel of the Fates....amazing

the finale was he did the music to the last reel of E.T. (Starting from the van chase into the bike chase into flying into sad good bye) I was fighting to hold the tears back.

So he leaves the stage and then comes back and does the slow theme from Raiders
and then he leaves the stage.....
....and comes back and does the Star Wars theme...and everyone lost their mind. Hundreds of lightsabers went into the air.
So then he leaves the stage....
...and comes back and does the Imperial March....and everyone who just found their mind from the Star Wars theme lost it again

I am going back again today to the Hollywood Bowl for Paramount's 100th anniversary
to include:
Godfather and Godfather 2
Indiana Jones
Forrest Gump
Titanic
Star Trek
Transformers
and
Mission Impossible.

Sounds like u had a blast roach, consider me jealous :woot:

Yeah, they're gonna need the best of luck trying to come up with an iconic theme like JW's one.

I think the best Williams piece was "Slave children's crusade" from TOD. Just really gives me a huge kick.

If Zimmer is smart he won't try to out do it. Oh and roach I hate you. Sorry jealously talking

Is anyone surprised by how much it looks like we're getting Maul this season. Granted I have a feeling he will really only show in about 6 episodes, it's way better and far better used than I figured. I honestly figured he'd go back to being dead after his premier last season.

Roach, that sounds like an awesome concert!

I wonder, because that one point in the trailer looks like Ventress has her down, with her duel sabers at her neck, so I wonder what she's up to now?

She seemed disillusioned with everything from Sith to Jedi to Bounty Hunters at the end of last season, so I wonder if she is maybe sensing Ahsoka's uncertainty.

I thought it might be Maul in armor. If so cool. That'll be awesome if that happens, and we see a bit of the fight in the trailer.

Maul vs Vizsla should be awesome, one of the highlights of the early part of the season.

Yeah, I can't wait. He looks like a badass. Those kill number marks all over his helmet are cool. That should be a great arc.

It'll be interesting to see where his arc ends up, if he joins back up with his unit or goes off alone, not to mention the reasons why he is seemingly inactive when the story find him.

A lof of the SW character busts are really cool, and I wouldn't mind getting some eventually.

They are fantastic collectibles.

Yeah, I agree. I think he had a few plans, but didn't know which would end up working, but was ready to go either way.

Yep, still one of my favfourite sequences in the saga though. :D

I thought he'd get a decent sized arc given that they brought one of the most iconic characters back, I felt they wouldn't be in a hurry to kill him off again.

on a side note yesterday I went to the 100th anniversary concert for Paramount

some of the movie music they played was from
Wings
Cleopatra
Holiday Inn
Vertigo
Sunset Blvd
The Bellboy
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Godfather
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Forrest Gump
Titanic
Star Trek
Transformers DOTM
Mission Impossible

Jason Alexander was the host and he was hilarious. Michael Giacchino, Alan Silvestri were on hand with Lalo Schifrin, who created the original MI theme for the tv show.

It was awesome

That should be a good episode. It'll be interesting to see what brings Ventress to track Ahsoka.

Maul vs Vizsla should be awesome, one of the highlights of the early part of the season.
Yeah, I can't wait. Do we know how long that episode arc will be yet?

I wonder when his episodes/arc starts? Filoni said that he's going to be a big part of this season, so I can't wait to see what they do with him.

They are fantastic collectibles.

Yep, still one of my favfourite sequences in the saga though. :D
Oh yeah, it's still a great sequence though. The whole Jaba scenes have a lot of great scenes.

I thought he'd get a decent sized arc given that they brought one of the most iconic characters back, I felt they wouldn't be in a hurry to kill him off again.
I agree, their was no way they'd bring Maul back just to off him again quickly. The episodes he was in from last season were great, and his arc this season looks like it'll be even better.

Yeah, they were going to take their time with killing him again. I still hope it's Sidious who does it :woot:

U got to listen to some awesome music the last few days roach, consider me jealous :jedi
