Lionsgate "Power Rangers" - - Part 11

There's a meme comic that one of the PR fansites put up on Twitter. It reminds me of DarthSkywalker etc.:oldrazz::funny: I'd link it but I might get in trouble haha.

Im surprised that it's been playing in front of as many Rogue One showings as it seems to have been. Although they could've done themselves some good by having a brand new action packed trailer attached to Rogue One I'm happy at least the teaser is playing with some showings. Judging on some twitter traffic the reception still seems to be pretty warm to the trailer when it plays in the theaters.

I saw DS post, but if any of you guys have reactions when you see Rogue One I'd love to hear what the general feel of the audience was when/if the trailer played. I always find those things fascinating.

I'm seeing Rouge One tomorrow. I got the first trailer with Strange so I'll be sure to post about my audience reaction

Why did they laugh? American cinema (assuming you are america )sound so different to aussie cinema. No one makes a peep here from what I have experienced
I would assume because they thought it looked ridiculous. A lot of a people around me clearly had no idea what it was until the titles came up. That is when the laughter started. My sister was confused.

The small cinema i went to see RO did not have a PR trailer

The first trailer was in front of Rogue One. A full house and I crap you not, half the theater started laughing at the end of the Power Rangers trailer. I kind of love my town right now. :funny:

Why would they put the first trailer in front of RO? If you have that kind of opportunity, put out a new one that features them as Rangers......

Likely it was the theater taking advantage of the big crowd to show a bunch of trailers.

Yeah, the studio themselves get to attach 3 trailers I believe. The rest are up to the theaters.

GotG, Cars 3 and Spider-Man are obviously attached by Disney/LF.

Here's hoping the score sounds as good as Walt old take:

I'm so anxious to see how this film will play out. Like reviews box office and stuff. I just feel like we might have a good time in here. :yuk:

It might do well but you'll have critics who will automatically dismiss due to the franchise.

I'm just going to avoid this thread if it fails. When BvS bombed critically, I was physically hurting because idk, it sounds weird but I felt like a part of me died. I spent so much timec & energy defending it (And I still stand by it to this day) I'm not sure If I can go through the same thing with Power Rangers. I'm going to love this movie.

I disagree. If the movie is a good movie then it should be judged on its own merits. Period.

Fair enough.

Hell, I knew going in on a first night showing the theatre was gonna be full of sarcastic geeks that would openly boo anything getting shade thrown on it via the internet.

I think there would have always been skepticism surrounding a Power Rangers Movie but maybe less if the teaser wasn't so Chronicle meets Fantastic Four? The teaser is just so wrongheaded in every way.

Ah, so you are going to runaway if it fails after all the propping up. Well, at least you are honest about that. :funny:

I thought this was a bad idea, but I also felt the same about other things I turned out loving. But the trailer for this was everything I didn't want to see from a Power Rangers film. Hell any film really.

I suppose they learnt nothing about taking a property which is tonality light and up beat and try to take a serious approach with it is a very very bad idea. Granted, you can take a serious approach to a property but goddamn, it's the "well it worked well for Batman, let's apply that similar approach to every franchise" that these studio execs have that irks me. When you think like that, the project is more or less doomed.

this poster seems to get it

What looks brilliant on the posters? The Zords kind of do, but outside of that, it still that dark overcast of blue/black.

See I'm one of those weirdos who did want a Power Rangers movie. Was it a smart idea to make one?...Well... it wasn't the smartest idea in the world. I'll just say that.

I'm not going to lie I think I've been so traumatized by a certain movie this year that I never want to see over the top dark and gritty ever again.:funny:

I certainly don't want to see that tone when it's done by mediocre to bad filmmakers and it's foisted on properties that shouldn't have that tone in the first place.

Disagree about the tone. Power Rangers can have a serious tone, it's all about execution. I'm personally glad they're approaching this movie as some sort parody.

Not to mention designs by committee of what is "hip with the youngsters".
