Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

if they do make a BF3 they better make some huge changes to make it different because if it's too much like BF2 than it will get old and boring.

I wouldn't mind that really since it's going to be 5 years since BF2 came out and the online would be so much better than from back then.

I was very unimpressed with TFU. The idea was good, and the story was fine, but the game was just very glitchy and not made very well. Loading screens between the menus is just one example of how not well put together it was.

I also thought the boss fights were extremely boring and went on way too long.

I was shocked at how poor the lightsaber on lightsaber combat was.

I wasnt. They never showed any of the lightsaber combat pre-release which made me believe it wasnt a main focus. I figured it was going to be what it was. More like light-battons than lightsabers. There has yet to be a game that delivers really good saber to saber combat.

Lego Star Wars' lightsaber to lightsaber combat is probably the best.

If Lucas Arts really wanted to milk the franchise they'd be putting out multiple titles a year

And they haven't?

We got 3 titles, just this year. 2 on the past one.

Difference is that they've been releasing games that people don't care much about like Lego Star Wars or the Clone Wars crappy games... So yea, they've been milking the cow. They're just failing at doing it properly like in the old times and pleasing everyone.

A game that delivers good saber to saber gameplay is Jedi Knight. So far it has the best and most complex system so far, in any Star Wars title. This is why I want to see a new game of the series because it balances great melee combat along with Force powers without going over the top with one of them and forgetting the other. Plus, you basically get two games with it because you have access to both saber and Force gameplay and also FPS blaster weapons gameplay. Gives you a bit of freedom on what you can choose to do when fighting. You can even combine the two in a Force user with guns type of deal.

I love the Jedi Knight games and the lightsaber could dismember enemies, which would be nice to see in TFU II, but I didn't really like the lightsaber combat. Maybe that's just me. As for being able to use blasters. If I wanted to do that I'd play Republic Commando or Battlefront (both awesome games btw). I'm playing as a Jedi/Sith. All I need is a lightsaber and the Force.

I don't understand HOW this game is even possible...
I mean he dies... unless he's in some sort of force coma...
Does anyone else think his clothes look like Kyle Katarn's.

I'd go with Jar Jar's Poodoo Party...:oldrazz:

I posted this a while ago in the Force Unleashed thread. These are some of the concepts LucasArts considered before they went with TFU. I don't know if they'd revisit any of them and some sound similar to TFU, but it's interesting anyway...

Jedi Master

Jedi Prime

Jedi Outlaw

I WANT these games, please please develop these games lucasarts. :(

Are you really saying that, if you get the chance for variety, you'd rather that they scrap it and make a less complex game?

That's like saying "If I wanted to use flying vehicles, I'd go play Flight Simulator" in a GTA game.

The more variety you give players with one game, the bigger the audience will you get. That's why the Force Unleashed really has divided the fans: It only appeals to a certain type of audience and doesn't cather to all the Star Wars fans in general.

People who like Star Wars because of the pew pew pew also get a kick out of Jedi Knight games. Because you also have guns in them.

I'm not saying making games directed at one part of the fans is bad or anything, like you so well said, Republic Commando was an excellent FPS game. It's just that you're bound to piss off the other part when you announce you aren't going to focus on them for the next couple months/year.

IF your a JEDI all you should need is a LIGHTSABER and the FORCE period! A jedi using a blaster is like superman using a sidearm to fight crime. Its just unnecessary to the character, if the game was about anybody but a former Sith/former Jedi I would agree.

How did the Emperor survive? He took the front of the blast too and it didn't even touch him. I say under those facts then it is easy to say Star Killer is alive.

Well duh, the gameplay makes the story. Not the other way around.
You may have a clue of what you want to do with the setting but it's the gameplay that you want to have that dictates what characters you need and what plotlines you'll use to make it feel right.

What possible story could make Star Killer use a blaster over his insane force abilities?

Are you following our discussion? I'm not saying Starkiller should use guns. I'm saying Jedi Knight is a better franchise because of the appeal it has to a wider audience. Not just Jedi/Sith lovers. That's how this conversation started in the first place.

I could say the same about Battlefront too. It has guns, sabers, ships and epic battles.

Overall a new Battlefront or JK game would make more money than TFU 2 because they're broader concepts. Plus, they're ressurecting a dead main character for god knows what further bastardization of the canon they're planning to do. I have a feeling he'll meet Yoda and I have a feeling a bad feeling about this.

I'm actually looking forward to this. I enjoyed The Force Unleashed, but thought that they could really improve the battle system.

If they take what they did and improve on it, we could get something really fun and special. I hope it turns out well, I can't wait.

I'll probably be passing on this game. Too many things irked me during my playthrough on the first game to a point where I didn't have fun. Unless I read about some serious tweaks you can count me out.

TFU was great to me, abusive retcons and all. I'd love to play a sequel. Obviously, this brings the bar for the story even lower, seeing as how the guy is quite dead.

Of course, no body, no death, I guess. It just reeks though. I can already see amnesiatic Galen Marek training a young Han Solo or some other such madness.

I would really appreciate a Battlefront III, and would also enjoy a 3D fighting game, provided sufficient production value and innovation to accomodate the deadliness of the saber over a kick or even metal sword.

The first Force unleashed game sold the most amount of any Star Wars game at 6million. They made 360 million off that game, for that much money I'm sure they'll find a way to bring him back in a good way.Hell for that much money George Lucas himself might write the story.

*Shudder.

Well, I hope they make some strides towards that in this one. If they're serious about improving on the flaws of the first one that's one area that certainly needs it.

Well... considering that the game took place only 2 years before A New Hope... Han won't be very young and TFU2 clearly takes place a few years later because he has aged a bit. I'd say the game takes place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.

The press release says the game takes place between RotS and ANH.

I'm excited for more Starkiller, but seriously, we should be getting a film adaptation of this, not another game.

We can continue to wish right? :csad:
