Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

While it was fun holding a Storm Trooper in the air and throwing my lightsabers threw his chest, most of the demo didn't impress me enough to make this a buy upon release game. Most of the problems I had with the first game were still present in the demo.

What problems did you have with the original? I found power and combat design were solid, but that poorly designed enemies (with ridiculous resistances and no clear strategy for defeating them) sucked a lot of the fun out. Enemy design in the demo is much better, so my main problem with TFU is now gone.

I love the dark ROTS music that plays when you enter Force Unleashed mode, subtle but a great addition. Can't wait to get the full game.

Over at the Gamefaqs boards, they posted a leaked review from Game Informer, or what it claims to be. Basically they gave it a 75 out of 100, sayin that the gameplay was decent, the story was terrible, and that it still had a number of flaws. I don't normally trust the magazines much, and I'm still super excited for this, but they tend to be fairly dead on with story opinions, and so my faith in liking the story as much is certainly dwindling.

Yea that review is correct.

They just didnt like the story.

Oh well, come Tuesday ill find out if i liked the story or not either.

It's just annoying that Lucas seems to be trying to destroy everything he set up as HIS OWN MOVIES CANON.

It's mindblowing.

The story in a video game is a little overrated. A great story will get you through the game once if the gameplay is solid. However if the gameplay is good it will tide you over much much much longer. A story is also one of the most subjective things about any entertainment medium. There are always gonna be some people who love it and others who hate it. I've been on the force unleashed message boards and the guys who've read the book love the story. I'm just excited that the game is only a couple days away and I'm so ready to unleash the truth.

I hate when people blame Lucas for everything. Even when he's not involved. He only told them what they could and couldn't do in the first game. He didn't write the story and he wasn't involved with TFU II at all. It's just a game. I can understand not liking the story, but I don't see why everyone gets so worked about TFU destroying the movie canon.

Anyway...The only thing I'm not liking is that apparently there aren't many locations and that the game's short. The first one wasn't long either, so I guess I'll be ok with it. There's also the challenge levels and possibly DLC, for which I hope they make some new levels and not just costumes and/or challenge levels.

Hopefully Lucas Arts pays attention to the people not liking the story & then they give it a proper conclusion via DLC with a 6 to 7 hour Expansion like Red Dead. If we do not get a 3rd Game  Just about no one is liking the story & that is putting me off from getting it. At least right away for $60 bucks

I think the people that don't like the story are the same that didn't like the story for the first game. At least most of them. They don't like they idea of Starkiller and if that's not it, then they don't like that they brought him back after killing him in the first game.

If the game sells well, they'll definitely make a sequel. The same thing happened with the first game. They laid a lot of people off, but the game sold 7 million and that's why we're getting TFU II.

If they don't make TFU III, then they could finish the story in a novel and/or graphic novel. I don't see them making a 6-7 hour DLC expansion though. People say that it took them 5 hours on normal to finish TFU II. Blackman (TFU/TFU II Project Lead/Writer) opened his own studio, but he said he'd work on TFU III. I'm assuming he'd just write the story.

I'm sure he felt guilty about it until he made another bagillion dollars or so out of it.

The Star Wars brand, despite how much its fans care for it, has always been about making money. They'll sacrifice whatever they have to in order to achieve that goal.

Well... seeing how they're his own movies... I guess he can do that. If it was someone else then I get annoyed.

Just watched both endings on Youtube (won't be posted here until AFTER the game), and, regarding the light side ending, I can see room for one more game. Why? Here's the explanation:

In the light side ending, Starkiller lives, and a defeated Vader is captured and imprisoned by the Rebel Alliance and General Kota. However, this take places a year before the events of A New Hope, so we KNOW Vader's going to escape custody. The question is how? Also, since Starkiller doesn't die this time, maybe in Force Unleashed 3 we could get an explanation as to why he doesn't show up or is mentioned when the events of ANH roll around.

Broke down and read your light side ending description...

Um... what? Maybe it's just me but I absolutely hate how they turned Vader... one of my all time favorite cinema characters (characters, not just villain) into a complete punk. He's a sappy jerk in the prequels, he was pretty darn cool in TFU and now he's not only defeated... but captured?! Where is he taken? Dantooine I assume... if so... doesn't that defeat the point of wanting to capture Leia in a New Hope? Shouldn't a Dark Lord of the Sith somehow figure out where he's at?

That's just ....blech.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he didn't feel guilty at all. He did it to expand it and make more money. It's a business. He doesn't care.

We, fans, are the ones getting buttraped with this thing tho. He's allowed to do whatever the hell he wants with it, sure, and that's what annoys me the most.

Lucas is involved with everything that has "Star Wars" on it. Telling them what they can or can't do isn't "nothing". It's the difference between:

A) [BLACKOUT] having Vader get arrested and taken to Dantooine prior to the events of ANH, breaking the previously established movie (the first ****ing Star Wars thing of them all)[/BLACKOUT]

OR

B) [BLACKOUT]telling them to come up with a finale that doesn't defy the logics of a coherent timeline.[/BLACKOUT]

Honestly? Its a stupid piece of fiction. Get over it.

He only told them what they're allowed to do with the first game. LucasArts only talked with the keeper of the holocron (continuity guy) or whatever. [blackout]Vader might be captured at the end, but I've read that he doesn't go down easy and he takes a lot more than he did in TFU[/blackout]

Either way...It's just a game. I don't understand why people take it so seriously. Just think of it as an elseworlds tale if you don't like it.

I haven't read any detailed descriptions, but why would [blackout]Vader's capture[/blackout] be a continuity problem, anyway?

Essentially. It's what I do (as a reader of the Star Wars EU novels) with the "Dark Empire" comics.

It's hard for Star Wars fans to take it as EU... why? It's confirmed Canon. Lucas is really no more guilty of changing things around then comic writers are... I mean, how many times have things changed in Batman? Or Superman or the most recent offender... Spider-Man? It's almost constantly changing... sometimes even from issue to issue.. so that doesn't really bother me...

[blackout]Vader just getting taken out by a guy who's NOT the chosen one (Luke, if you believe Luke is the actual chosen one)... more so if he's just a clone... is it confirmed he's only a clone?[/blackout]

[blackout]Apparently he's taken to the Rebel base on Dantooine. You know... the one he has no idea about in A New Hope.[/blackout]

I think the new President of LucasArts planned this. He wants people to find out the spoilers and NOT buy the game so he doesn't have to fund a 3rd.

I this this one might be on Lucas. Since he gives them the permission for the story ideas :o

I just picked up my collector's edition, I'll post some thoughts later when I get a chance to play it!!!:awesome::up:

I keep hearing that it's short and thar there are only 3-4 locations. :( Other than that, it sounds great and the demo was awesome.

Anyway...Have fun Guardian. I'd like to hear your thoughts.
