State your opinion a character

Like most villains created in the eighties and nineties, when you start peeling back the layers, there's nothing there.

Though I will say this; there are no bad characters, only poor writers.

His horsemen have always seemed like bigger threats than him. Milligan had a really cool Pestilence and Remender did all 4 well recently

Well, that's it for the underwhelming Apocalypse.

.......his lips remind me of those frogs from Rocco's Modern Life.

I've decided to shake things up a bit. How about we try other things besides characters. Concepts....story lines.....places.....things.

The Infinity Gauntlet

Loved the original IG event, which then spiraled into sequels that were out of control. I still hold the original Starlin/Perez/Lim story in very high regard. It produced several memorable moments. The Infinity Watch series that spawned off it was decent. The recent use of the gems by Bendis was stupid.

that summed my thoughts perfectly

Cool comic book relic that's kind of been diluted over time. Once the Living Tribunal nerfed it, it lost its importance. The individual gems have been used to much greater effect since the original Infinity Gauntlet mini.

Nooooooo! i only like my martinis shaken!:cwink:

the IG rocks hard! Thanos use to be to me as "okay. He's a good villian." but he jump lightyears ahead in IG! i said it before and i will say it again the dude actually won! the only thing that stopped him was his own self doubt to wield ultimate power. which warlock cultivated! That &^%$ was bad ass! i love how to gather the gems from the elders on some he used brute strength, some he used cunning and guile and on some he used their own tricks against them. That Thanos is a bad "shut you mouth!" Like boulder said I loved the "infinity watch" that branched off from it, but the subsequent sequels were less than stellar. its because of IG that Thanos is my #1 baddy of all time.the IG rocks like someone slapping you with it for a duel for being a B^%$!

Thanos was at his best when he was mind f***ing the Silver Surfer.

for me Thanos was awesome when he was &^%$# with Mar-vell!! "The death of Cap'n Marvel" is still one of the greatest Books i have ever read. His "come here !and let me tell you why i love death so much son!" speech as he welcomes marvel into the afterlife is pure comic genius!!

I usually like Thanos whenever Jim Starlin isn't retconning his losses away like a crazy person.

Hahah corp! Everything now in both companies has been 52ed/ ultimate/ crisis/ cloned.... that i dont even care anymore. i am like this happened and then it didnt!

Maann! talk about taking this *Dallas Bobby Ewing" last season was all a dream, but i woke up" stuff a bit to far!i think people grew up on too Dallas!

* that cheesed off alot of people by the way. i hated Dallas! i was more of a Knight Rider guy hehe

True, but it's particularly bad with Starlin. The guy will write whole mini-series dedicated to explaining how the 'Thanos' who lost to this or that hero was really a clone that Thanos made for no real reason. He's like an overprotective mother who just can't stand to see his boy get roughed up by those mean other kids on the playground. :o

oh i totally agree which is why *i hate clones!! everybody and their moms is a clone " oh but that really wasnt me it was my clone!" come on! even in comics that *&^% is far fetched!

* second only to "the hand" oh and implanted memories, oh and character's death, oh and you cause me to become this because on some dark rainy night i slipped on a banana peel that you dropped.. Damn! there's alot of stuff that pisses me off in comics now. i am like a bitter old dude. hahaha

Doom has Doombots. Fury has LMD's. Loki has illusions. There's room for clones.

At least Doom shows up for real every now and then.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

The original Infinity Gauntlet story pissed me off, and I don't care much for Thanos either. He's a Wolverine type character-he has to make other characters look bad to make himself look good. A Mary Sue, Starlin's Mary Sue.

It makes an okay MacGuffin, I guess. The Cosmic Cube is better.

Doom has Doombots.
Mannnnnn! Frankie Doom and his D-bots started all this stuff!

Hooray! we just defeated Doom and ended his evil finally! BAH! FOOLS!YOU ONLY SUCCEEDED IN DEFEATING one of my many Doombots! I was busy eating a Mac-rib sandwich! That dude is the originator!:woot:
There's room for clones.
that would make a good sitcom Frank. " Make room for the clones!"

Dang, dude, just let the floodgates open there. Let it all out. :)
its what happens when your bursitis flares up.. yet out all that. i practically carried your boy's movie single handed in my town( that flick is still the bomb!)... i expect the same if a "Power Man and Iron Fist" movie comes out!:o hahaha

I don't care much for Thanos either. He's a Wolverine type character.
hmmm i dont see the relation twix the two Kuro since Thanos hates to sully his hands with fisticuffs( he more of that madman thinking type which is why i love his ass,) but this is state your opinion so to each their own bro.

Thanos is awesome. Starlin writes him as he should be... a high, high, high level cosmic threat.

I liked the IG event, but I preferred Thanos Quest.

Starlin can do whatever he wants with Thanos!

I loved the Original IG and Thanosquest leading up, one of the best arcs in marvel history.

However, IG, kinda sucks in general as a plot device outside that original story becuase it is just too damn powerful.

The original IG mini is the still the event by which I measure all other events. Thanos at his best, Surfer at his best, Warlock at his best, etc etc. The sequels each got worse and worse. continued use of the gems coulda been good but generally are terrible.

Well, that's it for the Gauntlett

Their addition was a key point in the history of the franchise and they helped put the X-Men on the map. It kinda makes me wonder why there has been no recent attempt at a title featuring these 5 only? I think the last time was around The Hunt For Xavier saga over a decade ago. Or was there one....? I can't seem to recall.....

If they were ever gonna do two teams, that's the way I'd go.

Cyke, Iceman, Beast, Arcangel, and Jean if she's alive at the time.

The other one being Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Shadowcat.

I like them all except Wolverine, who is my most hated character in all fiction. He and Bendis are the reasons I don't read Marvel anymore.

I kinda dislike Storm at times too, as she became as bad a Mary Sue for Clairemont as Wolverine was a Mary Sue for John Byrne.

Colossus and Nightcrawler are both awesome, though. It's a shame Murray Boltinoff turned down Nightcrawler. But DC's loss was certainly a huge gain for Marvel.
