I actually really want to read these.

The comics are supposed to follow the evolution of the character through comics history, beginning in the 'atomic age' 50s all the way up to the 'dark and gritty 80s and 90s'. Lots of room for some choice satire there...

Every great thing has its fall. They were so great for so long that they were going to come down to Earth some time. Now they're just keeping it going just because they can. I can't blame them considering they're still probably getting paid in gold bars.

True. I think the cast are paid like, $300,000 an episode these days or something.
Rapidly plummeting quality or not, you don't walk away from a paycheck like that.

Still... seems a little bit unfair considering half of them can't even do their characters voices properly anymore...

Hawkingbird, speaking as someone who used to adore The Simpsons, to say "it hasn't got worse" is the absolute pinnacle of denial.
Watching The Simpsons these days is a little bit like watching a childhood hero, just the coolest guy in the world, slowly succumb to senility and slip away into nothing...
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you still enjoy it though.

That's a good question... I think it was probably season 10.

That was probably when they started being "whacky cartoon characters", as opposed to "characters who just so happen to be animated".

It also has the dubious distinction of being the season that has the episode, Sunday, Cruddy Sunday.
That was the first ever one that made me go, "What the **** did I just watch?!"

I gotta say whatever season Michael Jackson and Brittany spheres showed up! that was game over for me! It then became the guest star of the week show!

and just like mentioned before everything and everybody starts to slowly erode and decay! unfortunately that's life! it's like how the Fonz on "Happy days" was cool as hell and you could see him getting chicks.then towards the end.He got kinda fat still wearing that leather jacket!No way in hell would he just snap his fingers and get hot young chicks unless he snapped em with money in his hands!

Just one of the all-time great comic villains.

In this day and age, where villains are becoming increasingly more humanised and sympathetic, "sick, amoral bastard" bad guys like him are sort of invaluable.

He's Judge Dredd's arch-nemesis, E-Man.

Yeah, he's cool alright. Would have loved to see him in a Dredd sequel, but that movie didn't exactly set the box office on fire.
