State Your Opinion on a Character!!!! (Reboot) - Part 4

BND Spider-Man - OMD and BND were the reasons I stopped reading SM altogether. I can deal with inane plot twists and complete mental destruction of the characters brains but everything they did leading up to OMD and OMD itself was too much for me. They negated a lot of what I loved about the character for bull**** reasons, total and utter idiocy on the parts of the 'smartest' people in the MU and an asspull of an ending so stupid I'm surprised it didn't turn itself inside out.

Gargoyle - Never read much Defenders but I loved him in the Earth X sequel, Universe X. They made him an interesting guy and I find his parts of the story are among the better parts.

Only time I ever heard of him was Universe X. he was weird and mysterious in that so, okay?

I liked the whole betrayal aspect of his story that he did just so he could feel again. Of course melting into goo and going to hell kind of made you feel bad for him no matter what he did.

LOU FERRIGNO HULK

Awesome! Cheesy and campy most of the time but I got my nostalgia goggles on. I also just really like Lou.

It was/is an awesome tv show (cheesy & campy at times) & brings back so many good memories. Bill Bixby did a superb job portraying Dr. David Banner (still don't get why the producers didn't name him Bruce Banner) & of course Lou Ferrigno was just great as the Incredible Hulk!!!!

One of the recurring questions coming to mind is;
"Why didn't they make him talk?"

Lucky for Lou, he voiced the Hulk in the 90s cartoon.

Apparently Kenneth Johnson was not a comic book aficionado & made numerous changes to the character for the show. I got the following from a Wiki entry:

Although the comic book Hulk's degree of speaking ability has varied over the years, the television Hulk did not speak at all—he merely growled and roared. Hulk co-creator Stan Lee later recounted, "When we started the television show, Ken said to me, ‘You know, Stan, I don’t think the Hulk should talk.’ The minute he said it, I knew he was right. [In the comics,] I had the Hulk talking like this: ‘Hulk crush! Hulk get him!’ I could get away with it in a comic, but that would have sounded so silly if he spoke that way in a television show.

I can understanding limiting his dialogue, because comics Hulk talks too much.
I wish he said a few lines every season.

I also noticed that in the theatrical films the Hulk doesn't talk much either.

Lou's partial deafness would have limited him to a few lines anyway. I'm sure he could growl or say "Hulk smash".

He seems a little cheesy today, as do many things that are 30+ years old. Used to scare the hell out of me as a kid, though. I dreaded those transformations.

How can you not love something that had this?

It helped keep the idea of having comic based live action tv shows alive until we got the splurge of what we have now. That and it was crazy, every single episode was nuts.

The theme is just so iconic as well.

The show was pretty groundbreaking for the time, and Lou was a damn impressive Hulk.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
i guess that Bear wasnt as smart as the average one is to mess with HULK!! hahahahah i could see PETA coming after dude for that! oh and yeah that opening Theme was THE %^&*( Baby!

Hulk's like, "Bears? Screw that noise!"

One of the classics of the genre on tv. They did a good job of their time adapting the essence of the Hulk story and treating it rather seriously despite the camp of some episodes. It was a sci fi/super hero/man on the run mix that worked.

It evokes the burden that Banner has so well.

I liked the show. It was good silly fun with some random deep moments here and there. And as Spoons said, Lou's good people.

It was fun and is still an important part of Hulk history.
