State Your Opinion on a Character!!!! (Reboot)

Only thing I've read with X-man is his appearances in the most recent New Mutants run. No real problem with him, just don't find him interesting.

I love Cable. I like the fact that he and whatever team he is working with is kind of a mutant wild card (mostly) separate from the X-men. Favorite run with him is probably the Cable & Deadpool series.

My favorite Cable run was Joe Casey's run that ran between Operation Zero Tolerance and The Twelve (give or take a couple issues). I thought that run was phenomenal.

And slicer... the modern stuff isn't anything to gage the character by. I'd recommend reading X-Man 1-25 or so. Those were the comics that really won me over (though there are some event crossovers and an Annual in there as well, all of which I enjoyed).

Thanks for the recommendation! I've also been meaning to read AoA in full, as I understand it he was pretty involved with that. I have the first of four trades they released, but that turned out to be all side stories rather than the beginning of the arc.

Yeah those early days of the X-Man series were actually pretty decent. It was a refreshing change to the line at the time.

Nate I haven't read much of and I'm happy with it that way.

Cable I like in the opposite of Jewhob. I hate the time travel and Scott's son stuff, but enjoy the normal stories with him. I really really hate the new cyborg arm type thing he has. They gotta give him back the old look for it.

Yeah, that first volume was extra stuff that came shortly after AoA finished (except X-Chronicles, which was all the backstory we got or needed at the time). Volumes 2-4 are the real AoA.

Also, if you haven't read it (or if it isn't in the first volume) I'd STRONGLY recommend reading Legion Quest before Age of Apocalypse. It's important. It's a 4-issue arc taking place in Uncanny X-Men 320-321 and X-Men 40-41 (and Cable 20, though to lesser importance). I know there was an old trade for it long ago, but I don't know if it's collected now. Still, I'd recommend at least hunting down the issues if not a trade.

By the end of AoA, if you're still interested in following X-Man's story, I'd recommend picking up the first trade of X-Man (I think it's called The Man Who Fell To Earth). It contains the majority of what I call the best part of his run. Through issue 13 or 14 I think with all the essential tie-ins. After that is when it stopped being phenomenal to just good before later falling to mediocrity.

concise and to the point... Both of those Dudes SUCK!!

Legion Quest is not in that first volume. I'm pretty sure they've re-issued the trade within the last couple years, I remember seeing it on amazon. Thanks for that recommendation as well, it's advertised as the prelude to AoA but I've been on the fence as to whether or not to get it.

I have to concur with you... I want to like Cable, but like Jean Grey resurrections and the Phoenix, there's too much Zod damned time travel/alternate time line crap and characters in the X-universe.

The Age of Apocalypse is the result of Legion Quest. It kills me that they never include it in with AoA stuff.

Phoenix, moan groan
When her/their time comes, I will pour all my hate over it

I loved the Cable and Deadpool series, which was hilarious, as well as Nathan's role in the Messiah stuff. That last series that was pretty much about him raising his daughter in the distant future was really good in my opinion. Nice character work. Yeah...I guess you could say I like Cable Dufesene from the start.

Nate I have no real affection for.

LOOTER

I've only read a couple comics with him in it but neither impressed me. He seemed silly.

None of them is the classic that is Amazing Spider-Man 036?

Nope. One took place during the clone Saga and the other was in a back up during Slott's early Big Time run with Power Man. Neither were that good.

where the %^&* did this guy get his name from!! his mom couldn't have came up with a better supervillian name than that! watch someone will take that dude and make him all dark and gritty and people will love him but right now that dude is LAME!!

Oh, The Looter. Oh what can I say about him? What could I possibly say to do him justice?

I have no idea. I vaguely remember him from a spider-man comic? That's about it. I know he was a thief and had something to do with meteors but not much else.

man spider you have had me where the hell did i read this dude at all day long and then it hit me! i was/am a big Nighthawk guy and thats where i remembered his sorry ass from! freaking "looter!!" hahaha

if it wasnt for nighthawk i wouldnt know who this dude was!

So... Looter had another lame (apologies to Robert Townsend) ass name BEFORE he was The Looter? That's just sad.
