State Your Opinion on a Character!!!! (Reboot)

I rather liked his original series with him first doing the Patch ID in Madripoor at the Princess Bar at all that. That was pretty good and they didn't have him be the unstoppable claw god of death he turned out to be. He took time to heal, nearly died a few times from getting attacked by a group of yakuza and took several days to get close to normal.

80s Wolverine was the best Wolverine. His healing was just right. Then the 90s happened and he's charging headlong into a hale of bullets like he's the Hulk. I personally irredeemable when Nitro nukes all organic matter from his bones and he recovered about 90% by the end of the same comic. Like Batman in DC, Popularity killed anything that was cool about the character.

Popularity didn't kill the character
Editorial ideas stopped writing him properly

Ok, fair enough. Perhaps it's best to say fan perception of him killed what was cool about him.

3 characters ruined by the 90's:

1) Wolverine
2) Punisher
3) Ghost Rider

Eh... more like Marvel just used them too much, and the audience at the time really just wanted characters that were "badass"... Of course that was what a 13 year old considers badass. Leather jackets, smoking, unthinking and merciless killing.

DAN KETCH/GHOST RIDER 2

If I am honest with myself... I loved that series up until that vampire villain (Blackout?) ripped out Danny's throat and the series got enmeshed in a bunch of unnecessary crossovers with the "Midnight Sons" titles and X-Men of all things. Texiera' art and Mackie had a good little title going on until it got popular beyond belief. After the aimlessness of those crossover issues I never got my interest back, so I've never found out what that version of GR's connection to Blaze and Zarathos really ever was, why Danny was chosen, how Danny got out of the whole throat ripped out thing, ect. So until about issue 25 I would say I really liked this GR. But then, like with Wolverine, they overexposed him and never gave us a clear answer on his origin for too long. I will say this though... A mature and sophisticated animated program, a full 45 min. an episode type show could be made with this GR and I think it would do well, especially if they could capture the essence of Texieras art in some way.

I know very little about GR and about the individuals I know even less.

I never really gave a s**t about GR. More of a car guy, no, really more of a walking guy. Maybe if he had cross trainers from Hell I'd be a little more interested. :o

I liked Dan Ketch as Ghost Rider but yeah, Krypton Inc hit on a lot of things that you can't argue with.

Ghostie is one of my all-time top guys! not even those awful movies,Nic cage hamming it up, that lousy blackheart villian in both the comics and that flick, Ghost rider 2099 or him joining the fantastic four(what the hell was that nonsense?!) can ever change that! if i ever was going to go thru the hassel of being a superhero. I would want to be that dude!Given the social climate in the united states! I still cant believe Marvel was able to get away with letting that dude sell his soul to the devil! That will always be some cool %^& and one very unique origin! i cant believe Marvel didnt get protest from some conservative group for that!( in the 60's though you could probably get away with that! cause all that "down with authority!" jazz)... I freaking love him,but yeah i agree with Krypton with all that midnight sons stuff!(johnny blaze with a hellfire shotgun, who made that up!) that dude needs to go away for awhile and come back HARD with a "R" rated movie, scaring the $%^& outta everybody and their mom like he deserves!!
the dudes supernatural! He doesnt belong palling around with Spiderman!( maybe he does since Spiderman sold his soul too! hehe i had to throw that in!)

..but until then i will always be a Ghost rider groupie!! chicks dig a guy on a bike! :cwink:

The only thing I remember reading with Ghost Rider that I liked was the team up one shot with Wolverine and the Punisher called Hearts of Darkness and I'm not sure which one that was.

Edit: It was Ketch.

1 of the coolest GR stories i ever read was one self contained story! it was Johnny blaze and he was riding in the desert waxing about how it sucks being the rider and his life!this dude shows up on another bike and was all wanna race? Johnny at 1st was no. but then the dude keep pestering him and he agrees and then it was like okay. then dude reveals he is death.if he wins Johnny and the GR will be dead as a door nail! so dude races johnny as GR and dude pulls ahead but johnny as GR starts thinking about how all the people he will letdown! about how he's tried to do good. they are neck and neck and Johnny KICKS THAT DUDE FRONT TIRE and dude flys off a cliff!

Morally of the story! sometimes like Captain Kirk you have to make your own rules and kick somebody's tire or you'll be dead! :cwink:

stupid Hollywood couldnt made that story!! but instead have some 90210 trench coat wearing demon! man! get outta here with that!

^One of the best GR, hell, MARVEL one issue stories ever.

Not a bad series at the start but I like to read comics more than once every 8 months.

Movie or film... Just not impressed. And it can't even stay true to it's own concept. Sorry, don't be telling me about "real world" superheroes, and then give me a pre-teen girl killing grown man, after grown man. Then there's the freaking totally unrealistic jet belt with gattling guns in the movie... And as for Kick Ass as a character himself? Idiot sad sack he seems to me. Sorry to any fans, but it's like Millar is actually mocking superhero fans with a character that is into the surface aspects of superheroes only. And as someone with more than a passing knowledge of stick fighting, he's a piss poor escrimador to boot. :oldrazz: :word:

Never read the comic but liked the movies.

He cool.

Only saw the first movie and besides Nic Cage wasn't impressed. I love Nic Cage in almost anything he does just because but the movie was bad. :(

Got the book, saw the movies( i am sorry i am not a JOHN ROMITA kinda guy!) it had its moments..but overall eh! i wasn't impressed!
i mean "HELLO MCFLY!"( hehe) there's a reason i want silver dudes on surfboards and motorcycle riding demons! if i wanted realistic %^^&( that's why i hate all these guys changing their costume for jeans and a t-shirt) I would watch an episode of "COPS!"
So for me kick-ass didn't kick ass!

Cuz sometimes awesome people have terrible taste. :o

well when you lick the pages they dont taste good, besides the ink gets all over your tongue!
How come you're not a fan of John Romita jr?
i never dug that dudes art Spider- Bro. i always thought it was chunky and blocky even when he was doing Daredevil and people were like "oooooooo this art is so great"! i am more of a Neal Adams, George Perez, Dave Cockrum, caviar and ole Milwaukee beer kinda guy!

so there Jackal headed prince of *el Morte! :oldrazz:
