VENOM/EDDIE BROCK

I'm gonna get stoned for this... A big fat MEH, for me. I mean, he was kinda cool at the start, and I get some of his appeal... but once we got SO much of him in the books, then he got his own comic, and then Carnage... Yeah, I just aint feeling it ya'll.

Could someone explain his appeal? There has to be something there, cuz he's been hugely popular from the start, but outside of the Mcfarlane/Larsen visuals, I don't understand what's so great. He was another in a long line of self deceptive villains when he first showed up, believing Spidey was a terrible person warranting death, and manipulated most likely by the symbiote itself I am guessing. Why is that so cool to some?

I also was never a fan of how he was this unstoppable force against Peter. Like, how much stronger really was he compared to 80's/90's Spidey? At some point I just wanted Pete to just say, to hell with it, I am going to go all out and kick the crap out of this loser.

I used to like him
But I think the perfect adaption of him is in Spider-Man 3 the movie, a sick moron ending up being killed by his own stupidity

He's cool but I always found him overrated!

I still love the first few years of him, right up until Spidey tricked him into thinking he was dead. After that went down hill.

OK. I think Venom has just overexposed too much & needs to be shelved for a while. I've also yet to see a good film adaptation with him & his appearance in Spider-man 3 sucked, that all being said, I do like him in the comics.

I think Venom is good god awful, he has no reason to hate Spider-Man, hasn't done anything important in his history of existing...ever...and is just overall a popular villain because he looks cool.

I think SM3 did Venom better than the comics ever did, by giving him actual motivation.

The Eddie Brock character came full circle and ran it's course way back in ASM 346-347. It took Marvel way too long to figure that out.

I liked him as Anti-Venom, thought that was an improvement
Wish he killed every other symbiote

Cool character. Better Venom than Brock, though him even being Venom is stupid.

It's like you, having won the lotto, then finding out that this other guy you used to go to school with won the exact same amount you did.

I mean, it's not impossible, but statistically, out of all the people on the planet that coulda become Venom, it just so happens to be a guy you used to know....I mean....what up with that?

Flash is cool. It's interesting that he had such a transformation over the years from bully/jerk to friend of Peter's. Still, I generally dislike when the non powered supporting cast members of a super hero's book suddenly get powers too. But I guess that's par for the course with Spidey. I mean, one of Ditko's big gripes was Norman turning out to be GG. And that was decades ago, so it's nothing new for Pete and his cast.

All around he's one of the greats
If I make a top 10 supporting cast members, he's probably honorary 11 if not included

Superhero comics are built on coincidence. I feel like it might have started as lazy writing in the beginning, but it's become such an integral part of the genre that I think at least a few writers purposely invoke it.

It was a great shot in the arm for the Venom character. And while I don't approve of supporting characters getting super powered, this is the one exception where it actually makes sense and works well.

I don't like supporting characters getting super powered either, Flash included for me though. Don't like him losing his legs, don't like him as venom at all.

He's -in my opinion- the best thing to happen to the Venom symbiote
But I'm not a fan of him losing his legs either

Flash is Cool!i like he was the bully in Pete's life ,knew he did him wrong tried to make amends and became his best friend!
Flash as a character is cool! Flash as VENOM SUCKS!! CAUSE VENOM SUCKS!!

I like Eddie Brock. When he's a villain, not the whole anti-hero stick they tried to force on the character which I think is highly unneccessary.

I've always been confused by the love for Carnage. That character is truly god-awful in my opinion.

EDIT: Nevermind.

I like regular Flash Thompson. Not as Venom, but Peter's old high school bully becoming one of his closer friends after High School. That was good development.

Venom's an awesome character if and when he gets his own movie they should throw in a teaser of Carnage at the end.
