State Your Opinion on a Marvel Character

Emotion and intelligence are two different things. Dr. Doom's the smartest man alive by pretty much any measure, but he somehow can't see that his being a hugely arrogant d-bag always screws him over.

But his *****ebaggery is also one of his biggest strengths in that it drives him and pushes him to achieve and actually be better. Yes it screws him over knocking him off that height but it's also the thing that brought him to that peak to begin with.

Magneto just sits back on being a master race and kills all humans and such. His *****ebaggery is weak. I just don't see him as being reasonably intelligent let alone a genius. Anyone with his powers could have easily done what he's done (can't be that hard to make machines when you're magneto) and his plans have all been simplistic to the extreme. Out of supervillain leader types he's bottom wrung when it comes to intelligence, planning or basic mission goals.

I think you're oversimplifying him. He wasn't always a mutant-Nazi, after all. He met Chuck on that aid mission in whatever war zone it's been floating-timelined up to now. He's been pushed to his extremist views over time. Granted, I agree that being able to justify those views to himself for such a long time makes him a little dumb, but I think he's more blinded to his own actions by his unbelievable fear of ever being enslaved again. He's like a guy who cheats on his wife because he's too much of a coward to just leave her and be alone. He knows on some level that he's gonna wind up alone in the end anyhow, but he struggles against it rather myopically with preemptive measures because he can't really think of anything else.

And after typing all that, it does sort of paint him as dumber than I meant to imply he was. Maybe he is kind of dumb.

Sure I'm over simplifying him, he's overly simplistic. Now you take joseph his clone? That's an actual character with depth and conflict.

Yeah you just made a strikingly good point about him being stupid better than I ever could have. I may need you to help me write opinion points in the future.

Thundra is okay. I haven't read a ton of stuff with her in it, but she strikes me a little bit like a poor man's Big Barta,(just a little bit though). But maybe that's just me not having read enough about her...dunno. She's cool, but not in my top super-heroine ranks...


Red She-Hulk....nah. Thought the idea was kinda dumb to begin with and I have no interest in reading anything to change my mind about it. Character reminds me of all those 'extreme' characters that were around in the '90's and now I can't even think of Betty in the same light anymore....*sigh*...

I don't mind Thundra. But I HATE, HATE, HATE Red She-Hulk, and while I'm at it. I hate Red Hulk. Its like in video games when they colour swap enemies, and give them an increase in, or slightly augmented, power sets. Its ******ed.

Loeb's Hulk made me want to blow my ****ing brains out it was so ******. Painfully obnoxious.

Magneto is a jew that adopted nazi principles. He's below level intellect and reasoning if anything.

1: That's not how being a genius works. "Genius" and "Hypocrite" are not mutually exclusive.

2: Saying Magneto has adopted Nazi principles is oversimplifying it a bit. His worldview and actions have drifted dangerously close to being similar to those of the Nazi party when he's been at his darkest, but he's got a lot more nuance and a lot more redeeming traits than simply being a straight up genocidal Nazi. For starters, the majority of the time he doesn't actually want to wipe out the human race.

3: Look at Israel today. A highly militaristic culture, highly aggressive toward their neighbors, and engaging in an enormous amount of institutionalized racism against Arabs within their borders, including segregation, mass death caused by enforced poverty, and a few instances of slave labour. The existence of Jews that act disturbingly like nazis isn't a new thing.

The fact that he regularly relapses into states of dimentia and dissasociative identity is also a mitigating factor. Hard to blame a guy for cheating if he, every so often, forgets he even has a wife.

Look I know you love magneto, so I'm not gonna go into it with you. But for me ALL RACIST PEOPLE THAT FOLLOW NAZI BELIEFS are not only *****es but also idiots. If you're A then you're B 10/10 times.

And yes I am oversimplifying it because magneto is an overly simplistic character. He is. I know you think he's cool or whatever because he can control metal but his character is stupid, offensive and just bad. But I get why he gets a pass as he was a main X-Man foil during a lot of the glory days and has a special place in the hearts of many. Sorry I don't have the rose tinted glasses though, I just see him as stupid and offensive because he is. You go through the holocaust as a victim then come out spouting crap about how you need to protect and preserve the "master" race and you're an idiot. I don't care how many machines you can make (and if you can control metal, that's not really a stretch), you're stupid. Forget genius, try sublevel intelligence. His plots also leave a lot to be desired as most involve him just forcing his will on others with power. The stupid version of the hulk laughs at his foresight and planning.

It's that if you actually were a victim of the holocaust then to spout nazi beliefs is offensive as hell.
