Watched the first one on a whim last night, still love it. I honestly kind of forgot how good most of the cast was. Really excited to see the adult group interact and bounce off one another, but I'm most excited to see more of Skarsgård.

Yeah I'd say it's worth a watch for the hell of it. Definitely not as good as the new film, but Tim Curry is fantastic in it and the goofy tone makes it kinda fun overall.

it's only downtown Derry that gets destroyed in the book, not the whole city as the Derry Town House (where the Losers see the reflections of their child selves) and the surrounding area still seems to be intact.

It proves there's not a hint of rain, and people are going about their day as if nothing happened. Besides, the mini series skipped over it, so why shouldn't the movie?

The mini series isn't great, but it does have some good performances from the adults. The only adult actors I think give poor performances are Beverly and Eddie.

The miniseries is certainly dated, but it has a charm to it and I have to credit it for getting me into the horror genre and Stephen King. Tim Curry steals that show. Even though Skarsgård feels more in line with the book Pennywise (to me) I struggle to choose my favourite of the two because Curry was so iconic when I was a kid.

I agree with all of this, except perhaps the bit about IT being King's best villain. As much as I love the character of IT, that title has to go to Walter Padick/The Man in Black/Randall Flagg/Marten Broadcloak (e.t.c) for me. I adore that insane, enigmatic, sorcerous giggling bastard so much, as underwhelming as his ultimate fate ended up being.

I would absolutely put RF over IT... were it not for the way he is handled in the last book - not just his ultimate (and deeply stupid and terrible) fate, but for his whole characterisation. It’s the same reason Crimson King (eeeeeeeeeeeee) is down the list.

King really did make a hash of the Dark Tower ending when it came to his villains... and I say that as a constant reader of 25 plus years.

Love the trailer and am hyped to see this, but.....has no one noticed that James McAvoy isn't even bothering to sound American? I'm not sure what to make of that. The kid playing Bill from Chapter 1 was genuinely American on all counts, so I'm not sure if the filmmakers plan on explaining how he gains a Scottish accent....

I can’t help but think Tobey Maguire would have been been a better choice for an adult version of a character played by Jaeden Lieberher, and I’m not even a big Maguire fan.

Should I read the book ? I don't rate Chapter 1 movie that much but the concept and the story does indeed intrigue me. I'm hesitate because Chapter 2's trailer is so god damn good that I'm scared the experience won't be the same once I know the plot from the book.

Yes, the book is an ESSENTIAL read.

Yep, that was me. I'm just viewing it as she 'gabbles her way' through what she is saying, as if she has literally seconds left on earth to get out her content before the world is coming to an end. She seems hyper, hence the 'sugar-rush' observation.

I actually kinda love what King did with the Crimson King in the final Dark Tower book. It was gutsy as hell and if there's one thing you can definitely say about King as a writer it's that he rarely goes where the reader expects him to with a lot of his characters, especially the villains. Plus, I love the idea that

in a way, the Crimson King ended up ultimately defeating himself through his own hubris. His machinations in trying to topple the Dark Tower were responsible for all of the worlds (especially All-World) starting to fall apart at the seams and 'move on' as we know, and it was the degradation of reality itself that gradually resulted in the degradation of his own sanity, to the point where he was so insane that he was no longer a real threat and easy to take out, and therefore the real battle was won once the ka-tet stopped the Breakers attacking the Beams. I think that's clever, and I appreciated that it was a unique way to deal with a seemingly unbeatable boss villain like old Crimson.

I completely agree with you that the way that King handled the end of the Man in Black sucked big time though.

Having him easily defeated and killed by Mordred of all people with his life-long nemesis Roland nowhere around was total crap, the readers were owed a proper show down and resolution between the two characters considering their long and complex history and it was such a cheat that we never ended up getting it.

It doesn't change my opinion that he's the best King villain though, his personality is so brilliantly weird and enigmatic and the idea of an inhuman ageless sorcerer travelling through the multiverse and causing chaos and destruction in many different worlds under different names and faces and therefore appearing in many King books as different anti-christ like characters helping to bring down various civilisations is so cool and unique. King then also linking him to Nyarlathotep of the Cthulhu mythos was a stroke of genius.

Well his "together" still sounded like his natural Scottish accent to me. But I'll wait to see how he sounds in the finished film, hopefully it comes across better there.

Love the teaser. The cinematography looks a bit underwhelming compared to the original so far, though. Or is it just me?

Nope! I like a couple of the shots, but the first one had better cinematography. Makes sense as this one has a different cinematographer.

I loved the cinematography in the first chapter, but I wouldn't say the new one is underwhelming.

I kinda like this yellow-ish, almost Fincher-esque look for the adult part of the story.



And these sickly greens in the sewers are on point!



Anyway, a lot of the color grading will surely be updated when the movie is released. They made some changes in Chapter One as well (look at how generic is the Neibolt shot in the first teaser, and how colorful it is in the full trailer).

To be honest folks, i always thought the adult part of both the novel and miniseries (except for the silly spider thing) was better than the kid one in the 2017 adaptation, miniseries and book as i've seen kids vs monsters done better in Monster Squad and The Gate, the adults going on an adventure feels more refreshing to me.

I think this will surpass part 1.

Horror movies starring early middle aged adults are few and far between. I feel like it's something different as of late. Either they're all kids, teenagers or 20 somethings.
