How was his Pennywise?As talented as Cary Fukunaga is, I think it was best that he didnt make the film he wanted to make. Having read the 2014 Fukunaga draft, it was a decent script, however, it was definitely a mixed bag. Yes, he made odd changes, such as changing names (a non-stuttering Bill became Willy and Henry became Travis) and the ending isnt the best. Even just after Fukunaga had left the project, he stated that he felt his vision of IT would be most likely seen as a mixed bag.
That said, there was lots of good in his script and Im pleased that Andres Muschietti used a big portion of the Fukunaga screenplay when script rewrites began. Heck, Fukunaga is getting a screenplay credit for the final film. Muschietti seems to be a big fan of Stephen Kings novel so I have faith his rewrites only made the Fukunaga screenplay better.
