I totally agree with that article. In addition to the immense interest in the film, as others have pointed out, there aren't really any other major releases slated for September. A lack of competition plus overwhelming interest is probably going to propel IT to far higher numbers than what horror films are accustomed to. I could see it doing Conjuring numbers...or better.
It's definitely got the September opening weekend in the bag, but I'd be highly shocked if it does more than $80 million opening weekend.
If the trailer views are anything to go by, i think it has a pretty good chance at doing higher, wouldnt be surprised if it did Deadpool numbers tbh.
Fifty Shades Darker had a record breaking number of trailer views and it didn't have an impressive opening weekend. It got beat by Lego Batman. Fate of the Furious had a record breaking number of trailer views as well and while it did have a worldwide record-breaking number, it was just shy of $100 million domestically.
It will be successful for sure (barring unlikely bad reviews), I just can't see it putting up Deadpool numbers. It just doesn't have the same appeal. R-rated superhero movies and comedies have a wider appeal to audiences than horror. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.
Anyone got a hold of the latest Fukunaga script draft for "IT"?
I know everyone is talking about an early one, but I heard there're some scans of a later draft he wrote *with a lot of controversial disturbing scenes *which would explain why the studio didn't want to let him direct that version.
I heard a lot of weird stuff were included in that draft (seems like he cut Stan's character entirely), but I would really love to read it anyway.
Question for everyone here who read the book; which of the Losers did you like best? My favorite was Richie.
Richie is my favourite loser. I have a similar sense of humour, and enjoy doing impressions!
