Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer - Part 2

I thought they were doing that considering that's how most people know the story.

Part 2 hasnt been filmed yet. The first film can stand entirely alone. If this film bombs and we never get a sequel this first film will act as a complete story. The studio just wants to see how the first film performs before they start throwing down millions for a sequel. Keep in mind that in the book even tho the children and adult story is intercut you could split off the kids story and publish that as its own book and the adult part could be published as a sequel book. (Personally I wish it had been published that way because the cutring back and forth annoyed the **** out of me.) Thats pretty much what they are doing here. They took the book and made a complete film from the kids story and hope to make a sequel from the adult story. This isnt one big 4 hour film shot all at once and broken into Part 1 and Part 2 with a "To be continued" at the end of Part 1.

Just to be clear though, Andy Muschietti has stated that the ending scene 'sets the stage' for a sequel. Not a cliff hanger, but more a nod towards the future.

Part 2 is clearly going to happen though, this film is tracking incredibly high. I personally believe it could break records for the horror genre.

Can we expect more tv spots coming days?

It's going to ride that Stranger Things zeitgeist like a m****er****er.

God I can't wait for this! Really hope it lives up to expectations.

I've never read the book although I did own it once I just remember it is very big and it's split into 2 parts. I assumed when I heard they were making 2 movies that it would be a LoTR scenario where the 2 movies were being filmed at the same time. I admit I would prefer it be done that way BUT I have never read the book and never got through the whole miniseries so what do I know.

I love Adam Driver but couldn't pass for 40's like these characters need to be as adults.

The characters are 38. Driver is 33. I'm not sure it would be too big a stretch for him to play late 30's, but I'm not sure he'd be a good choice for Richie anyway.

Some terrible casting suggestions in this thread, though. People seem to be casting not with the younger actors in mind. Bill Hader, for example, looks nothing like Finn Wolfhard.

That's a really smart way to do it, honestly. I'm very glad they're bucking the trend of planning out the sequel(s) so far in advance before the first has even been released. It allows this film to function as its own entity and for part 2 to be a proper sequel.

Then what are your suggestions?

I tried my very hardest to find someone better than Hader for Richie and I honestly couldn't think of a better guy.
He's genuinely funny and has done horror. No he doesn't look like Finn but it's damn close.
What Art needs to understand is you can't have the whole package, actors that look exactly like the kids AND have enough pedigree to star in this.
And no I don't believe unknowns can lead part 2.

New TV spot!!!! We see what looks like Henry's message from It to kill the Losers'!

I wouldn't expect to be seeing any major stars for a sequel. Maybe not unknowns, but certainly not Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Someone on youtube noted, The kids with pennywise are previous victims, thats just nasty

He's trying to upstage Freddy Krueger.

That "kill them all" chant...damn, I can't wait for this movie.

Hell yea hopefully this movie brings those types of movies back. It's about time we have a truly terrifying, badass antagonist in a horror movie. Freddy Krueger was one of the last villains that really had me terrified, though Im not gonna lie Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the one with Jessica Biel) was actually kinda scary to me too.

I absolutely would if part 1 earns enough money. Plus Levitts a prolific celeb but he's not that hot right now. It's not a stretch

I could see Adam Driver as an older Finn Wolfhard, conceivably.

^And, more than just that, they clearly look it.

If I look at JGL and Jeffrey Wright standing next to one another, I'm not going to think they went to school together. I'm going to think JGL wrote some nasty s*** about Wright on the boys bathroom wall when Wright gave him a C- in Biology.
