Weaver allowed Pope [blackout]to build his own group[/blackout]? Doesn't seem like a good idea...

I Figured I'd bunk this up since the Season Premiere of Season 2 is This Coming Sunday. I can't wait to see what happens this next season I thought Season 1 was actually pretty good.

Anyone notice that they are giving Ben a bigger focus than Hal in all of the promo material for the season from posters to trailers? I find that curious being as Hal was for all intents and purposes the third lead (behind Tom and Weaver). If Ben is filling his role, I have a bad feeling that Hal may not survive this season. :(

Given that the second lead is that far back on the poster, I'm a bit more worried about Weaver.

Ben arc plays a big role in Season 2.

Nah, Robert Patton is the "And...." credit. It is okay to have him at the back. :funny: Plus on the commercials, all of the promo shots have been him and Tom standing by a truck holding their guns. I think Weaver is safe. At least I hope so, I love me some Weaver.

I just hope it doesn't come at the expense of Hal. Hal dying would be tragic (but may be a perfect move for the show to really up the stakes).

I wouldn't read too much into that poster. lol This is the banner version.

Getting ready for the S2 Premiere!

I am loving the premiere so far, especially Tom's journey. We are finally getting to see the world of Falling Skies. The first season was so contained in that little section of Massachusetts. We got some glimpses of what was going on outside through Pope's actions and Colonel Porter's occasional reports but we never really got to see the world. Tom's journey is really showing it to us and as a result letting us see the devastation that the aliens have caused. The girl Tom rescued, desperately clinging to a bag with a few cans of soup while her mother lay near by....that was a powerful scene.

The one thing that I don't like is that they [blackout]killed Scott off camera[/blackout].

I was giving this show one more chance...and really its quite bad.

Not sure what you guys see in the show.

the haters have probably just given up at this point..I'll chime in later with my specific beefs

I look forward to discussing them with you, but honestly....after this premiere, the show is, IMO, right up there with Castle, Suits, White Collar and Boardwalk Empire as one of the best shows on television.

:wow: The weeks ahead preview is intense!

I looked away from the screen for a minute at the end. Did the parasite do anything like infect Lourdes or was it just floating around?

The parasite went back to the Skitter who was in the forest just across the street from the RV. It was like it absorbed it through it's skin. Going into the iris of it's eye.

I see, creepy. Thanks Rashad.

At any rate, great premiere! I can't wait to see what comes next.

My main beefs with the show continue to revolve around several points:

1. Lack of "cinematography" not especially creative in this department in the quality of the shots or blending moments with creative camera work. Very few panned shots or interesting camera work. Theres nothing inventive or profound here. (see walking dead)

The "mood" and feel of the show just doesnt feel right. It looks like a TV series.

..again, this extends to set design..very generic backdrops..camera shots don't lend or add to any real sense of being in a post apocalyptic world.

Finally on this point, The costume design, people look too clean or overtly dirty, people are dressed either in cliche attire ( IE retro vintage quasi BDU coat) or in impractical attire thats way to clean. They look like TV actors.

2. Mediocre acting, aside from a couple persons the cast just is not terribly talented..(the biker guy, forget his name needed to be a bigger talent..he's not a good actor.)this would be over come if it were not for..

3. Poor dialogue..If your going to base a show on conversation, which this show is..you have to deliver the goods in both the writing and the scene flow (see Game of Thrones)

Now let's get to my BIG beefs

4. Reasonableness of character actions...It was not reasonable for tom to be accepted back in the group with out being vetted for security right away. Any leader facing what these guys face would have detained him..debriefed him and checked him out right away. There were plenty of other moments like this, throughout the series.

5. Lack of realism in the events. Here's a few others:

-taking down aliens as easy as they are. Taking out 2 1960's migs with a lone AA gun would have been impressive, let alone 2 alien fighters.

-Where have they found the time to manufacture the "new" ammo in such volume that it's not even an issue.

-tactics, just doesnt make sense the aliens would not be on them more often and let them chill in there various "camp life" ad nauseum conversational sequences. The resistance is so lame, i mean the recon kid goes to check out the downed space ship with his light on like it's a camping trip (and he also easily swims across a huge river)..it did not come off as being real. And turns out there is some sort of alien base/ relay only a short stroll from them. Not believable.

-Some of this stuff bleeds over to effect the mood of the show...it doesnt feel like there is a real viable threat when the characters can enjoy such a nice camp life. Or the Aliens just seem to show up every now and then and don't seem like much else than a nuisance.

-whoever is writing this doesnt know much about military tactics to show enough to deliver the feel of war. This does not feel like war.

-for the most part , the resistance seems to hang out. I'm not even sure what the plan is.

-also disappointing by tom's quick return.. I think it cheapened the end of season 1 to not build some mystery here and stretch it out. Could have been a neat opportunity for some stories.

-in general, the hangers and mysteries are just not set up well.

6. Not enough action.

That's all i can think of for now. I guess i'll still continue to "support" the show, becuase I'm hoping it gets better ...and it's a sci-fi show about aliens and all..i sort of have to encourage that. I didnt like SG-1 till about season 4 anyways.

This show is not total garbage...but it could be so much better.

Well I enjoyed tonight, can't say I disagree with all the points listed above. I hate to compare the two shows but...yea the Walking Dead (which has plenty of it's own faults) maybe it's that it's the sense that they feel safer in higher numbers but I do feel a real lack of threat about whats around every corner, like I do from the walking dead. Kind of like if I were there, I'd be pretty safe just hanging back off the front line, til all the shooting stops.

But nothing is really bothering me enough to stop watching so far. And for sure the youngest son Matt is much more tolerable on screen than Carl.
