'Falling Skies': TNT unveils first footage from season 3, announces season 2 DVD/Blu-ray release date -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Fans of Falling Skies still have what feels like a long wait until the TNT sci-fi show returns this summer, but here are a couple things to whet your appetite for intense alien-fighting drama before the season 3 premiere.

Check out your first glimpse of season 3 in the EW exclusive video below. The writers and producers review questions left unanswered by season 2’s cliffhanger ending, followed by the debut of footage from the upcoming season at the end of the video.

Tom on horseback! Maggie attacked by a new, mysterious creature! What is going on?

Expect elements of the cliffhangers we were left with last August, like Hal’s parasite and the arrival of that new alien (played by Hellboy‘s Doug Jones), to be game-changers in the new season. “We’re playing on a completely different board now,” Connor Jessup (Ben Mason) told EW during our visit to Falling Skies‘ Vancouver set last fall. “This new alien has completely reshaped the mythology of the show and the sci-fi aspects of the show. Some parts feel like a different show, but I think at its core it’s the same show.”

EW can also exclusively announce that the Blu-ray and DVD for Falling Skies’ second season will be released on Tuesday, June 4. Check out the DVD box art and the full list of special features below.

Kinda disappointing that the trailer was 90 % season one and two footage, but it was effective none the less.

Season Premiere Part 1: “On Thin Ice” – Sunday, June 9, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) – TV-14-LSV
Season three of Falling Skies opens seven months after the 2nd Mass arrived in Charleston. In the interim, Tom has been elected to political office, but he has his hands full as the resistance continues to battle the alien invaders. Tom’s decision to have the rebel skitters fight alongside humans creates tension and raises suspicionsthat someone may be feeding secrets to the enemy. Meanwhile, Hal struggles with nightmares that seem so real, he has difficulty knowing if he’s awake or dreaming. And Tom and Anne prepare to welcome their baby. Terry O’Quinn and Gloria Reuben guest star.

As suspicion continues to mount about a mole within the resistance, Tom and his leaders make a drastic decision that jeopardizes trust among the group. Anne, meanwhile, has a feeling that all is not right with her newborn. Gloria Reuben also guest stars.

but I hope they don't save the new aliens until the very end.

the episode summaries didn't really mention anything about the new species.

only in the finale it says that "new players" arrive.

but "new players" arrived at the end of last season's finale.........lol

does that mean there will be another new species??
 
I don't see the point in releasing an entire season's worth of episode descriptions before the season has even begun... Now I need to avoid clicking and reading. :csad:
