David Eick Joins TNT’s ‘Falling Skies’ As New Showrunner

EXCLUSIVE: Former Battlestar Galactica executive producer and Caprica co-creator/exec producer David Eick has come on board TNT’s hit alien-invasion drama Falling Skies as executive producer/showrunner. On the show, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Noah Wyle, he replaces fellow Caprica co-creator/exec producer Remi Aubuchon, who is leaving after serving as showrunner for the past two seasons. Season 3 of Falling Skies kicks off with a two-hour premiere June 9. Eick is expected to begin assembling a writing staff to start working on Season 4 in anticipation of pickup. (Because of Falling Skies‘ complicated shoot and laborious post-production process due to elaborate special effects, the writers on the show normally get a head start before an official green light so the gap between seasons is not too big.)

A Season 4 renewal is considered a formality as Falling Skies is TNT’s #1 scripted series in the younger demos. It premiered in 2011 and ranked as basic cable’s #1 new series of the year. In its second season, the series averaged 5.6 million viewers and ranked as basic cable’s #1 summer drama of 2012 with adults 18-49 (2.6 million) and adults 25-54 (3 million). Additionally, Falling Skies is owned by TNT, bringing the company a lot of money from international sales as the series is airing in some 120 countries. WME-repped Eick will serve as executive producer alongside Spielberg, DreamWorks TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.

I think if you like Walking Dead, then you might enjoy Falling skies.

Falling Skies is a lot like Walking Dead but not as grim or hopeless feeling. There's more a "we can do ths" than "how long can we keep doing this" vibe.

I kind of prefer the TWD/BSG "The world ended and everything is awful!" school of thought, though. Everyone on Falling Skies seems a little too happy. At least when the show started.

I honestly think that they doing that on purpose,and by the end of season 3 Noah's character will gets killed or captured (possibly turned) and the resistance suddenly is helpless for the first time in a long time.

I'm not 'hooked' but the the only things I really watch on tv anymore are:

- The Walking Dead
- Falling Skies
- Defiance
- Under The Dome(soon to be because it's a Spielberg/Stephen King miniseries)
- WWE RAW
- TNA IMPACT
- and reruns of COPS

Going to have serious Monday night conflicts with RAW, Defiance, and Under the Dome. Good thing I have ON DEMAND! which is how I've seen all of Defiance/

'Grown up' isn't stopping doing things one enjoys entirely, it's letting things go so one is not an insecure, overly clingy child. I already did 'give everything up' and let it all go and quit being a needy, clinging child who overvalues his own self worth. I ain't interested in giving much up again to silence smarmy, clingy children that are... probably a lot like yourself.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, chief.
