Sci-Fi Stranger Things (Netflix) - Part 1

I am liking what I’m hearing about Stranger Things 5. Everyone is back together in Hawkins again and the pieces are all set, so the next season can just hit the ground running and be more focused. As much as I loved this season, going a little back to basics is the right approach.

Also, yes to putting the focus on Will again. They’ve definitely been setting that up this season, so it’ll be nice to see them pay that off and give him a lot to do.
That sounds perfect to me. It’s going to be most fun when everyone is together rather than having a Russia sub-plot wasting time. They needed to do that for the final season. This all started with Will so he should be important for the ending too IMO.

At least
Will won't be the only one stuck in the Upside Down this time. :awesome:

I really like the guy they got for this character. Acted well and had something unique about him, a unique look too. Will look out for him in future.

Just finished the last episode and its a close second after season 1 for me.
I really fall in love with Max and Lucas this season. Hawkins was the strongest part for me by far. Steve/Robin having such a wonderful friendship and I think Nancys developement through the series is kind of inspiring. Its an interesting idea to push Steve/Nancy again while pushing Jonathan into the useless loser corner.

Elevens storyline felt a little bit stretched to me (despite great acting again from MBB), I dont talking about Russia. I just hope we can see Wlashiha back as Enzo Antonov, but I doubt it.

I just have one wish for the next season that the character groups interact more with each other. It disturbed me to see four different storylines which arent depend each other.

Max and Lucas went up another level this season yeah.

I'm also glad to hear Will is getting a lot of focus next season.
As he should. Vecna is pretty much responsible for his misery the past seasons, he deserves to finally strike back in any way he can.

Shamefully, I've never watched Conan the Barbarian. It's one of the last bastions of '80s movies I have yet to see. I might as well fix that sooner than later and this reference is a push towards checking it out.
Conan is best in life. Watch it, or Crom will be disappointed in you. :o

I'm guessing the spin-off could still be focused on Kali and her gang of misfits? Can't really think of any other potential idea despite the backlash that episode got.

I think Russia could've been shortened or at least reworked. We didn't need them to escape 2 times only to go back to the prison.

That being said the main thing that should've been removed was Jason and the whole jock plotline. He was just a human antagonist when they didn't really need one. Because even the town mob stuff could've happened without him (and honestly it didn't affect the season much)

EDIT: And it was a short moment but the whole Gun Store bit could've been cut. I get and agree with the sentiment the show makers were going for, but it just took time and really could've happened off screen.
Agreed on the jock plot line. I didn’t mind it at the start but it was a bit painful seeing them still around at the business end of the season.

Hopefully Will plays a key part in his defeat.

Yes

I hope it’s not that or if it is they make them much better this time. That part is one of the only things I didn’t like in the first 3 seasons.

Here you go. It was in the weapons locker for the prisoners when they were put into the pit to fight the Demogorgon. Scroll through the slides on his post. Second slide shows it.

He lives in my neighborhood and I see him on occasion. If I ever get the nerve, maybe I’ll tell him how cool this is.

not impressed by the finale. The fight and the 2 days later sequence was overlong. The montage with Hopper and Eddie fighting like DnD characters was great though.

I'm all aboard the 'Save Owens, kill Sullivan' train

He is also young Grindelwald in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Sulivan looks, like he‘s a total *******.

Not a big fan of 11 being responsible for
the existence of the Mindflayer. It would’ve been better if the Mindflayer waited in his dimension for thousands of years and now having with Vecna his general to invade another dimension. Vecna is great as the main antagonist now, but this diminishes the status of the Mindflayer to me.

The last 2 episodes were epic and hyped me quite a lot for S5. Some of the best television I've seen.

That being said, the 1 month wait between the first 7 eps and the last 2 killed the momentum and was a very stupid decision to split it like that.

In addition, there were way too many drawn out moments through the season that could've been cut to reduce screen time and improve the pacing. The Hopper Russia storyline in particular was boring, stretched way too much and nothing really happened until the end. It drags the whole season down, imo.

I hope S5 has tighter pacing.

I'm already re-binging the whole series. It's been a year or two since I watched Season 1. I finished S1 in like 2 days haha. Show is so amazing.

Has anyone ever read the comics, and if they have, are they worth it?

Wait how is she responsible for that?

Binged volume 2 last night. Now that season 4 is complete, I can say that this was my favorite season of the series. It definitely overtook season 1 as being the best, IMO. I tried to avoid spoilers over the weekend the best I could but was spoiled by a google article that came up in my feed about the death of a certain character (the character’s name was in the headline). Oh well. Unless you stop going online completely, it’s pretty hard to avoid spoilers popping up if you don’t watch something opening weekend.
