Sci-Fi Stranger Things (Netflix) - Part 1

Anyone else going to do a rewatch of the series before the new season? I really want to if I can.

Already have over the last few months. First season remains my favorite with the horror aspects & mystery story being at it's best. This new season looks to be a return to that form so I'm really hyped about it.

Season 4 trailer didnt worked for me. They moved too much away from the main plot idea.
From charming 80s style scifi mystery to a horror war movie. I got D-movie impressions from the trailer.

Season 3 was literally an 80's romantic comedy half the time if you take out the Billy/Mindflayer stuff. Them delving into another genre in that era is not unexpected nor jarring in the slightest, so going to have to majorly disagree there. And given that it's been confirmed that season 5 is confirmed to be the last, I don't see how delving more into the Upside Down's backstory and what else dwells in there is a bad idea either. Again, them going a horror route is nothing new. It's been in Stranger Things' DNA from the very beginning.

Sounds to me like you're making a lot of preconceived conclusions about how this season will turn out, but you do you I guess.

The new trailer was cool and all. But I think they revealed too much with The Upside Down.

Very interesting trailer that shows quite a lot of different things. Can’t wait to get back into this universe. Feels like it’s been a long time.

It does show quite a bit, so I think MadVillainy not watching it is a good call.

Do you usually avoid trailers?
Yeah since Civil War in 2016 I've never watched a trailer for anything I'm really looking forward to and already know that I'm going to see.

I feel like it's more enjoyable than wondering "What about that moment from the trailer" and don't have to worry about spoiling to much and can see the film/show more or less with fresh eyes.

Looks pretty cool to me. Rewatching the show for the first time in a while. Started season 2, Sean Astin is such a delightful cornball. Debating whether to skip that dogsh*te episode with the gang though. I forgot about that, fortunately the writers did too.

Looks like a big budget Poltergeist.

Yeah, it looks like they're leaning into a more horror haunted house vibe this season. It's been smart the way they've shifted genre in each season, borrowing from specific films from the period. It has serviced the storytelling and the characters.

And Will. Especially Will.

Will was center-stage in Season 2. I'd say Lucas is overdue to have the spotlight on him, out of the core group of kids. The trailer indicates this season will focus a lot on Max, which could mean Lucas will have more to do by extension.

Out of the main four boys, I actually feel like the only one who has consistent screentime is Dustin. Between Dart in season 2 and the underground Russian base stuff in season 3, the main subplots seem to revolve around him.

I do miss the small-scale of the first season but I won't deny this looks fantastic.

and I thought the version of Thriller in season 2 was awesome
