Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

But of course... some of you guys know everything. It's like with El Mayimbe... when his scoops fit what you want he's fine. When not... he's the worst. Classic fanboys. Cool.

:funny: are you one of Eh Maybe's buddies? Come over here to preach for LR?

Well, LR was the site who was reporting that Davis was playing Waller, which I was pleased with, but I still questioned people running with the headline "Viola Davis is Amanda Waller" until we recently heard from Davis herself. I don't have anything against Latino Review but I'm not as confidant in them as I am other sources.

They are good when it comes to casting but the other nonsense not so much.

So... when are we actually gonna find out who Rick Flag is?

After American Sniper's run WB is going to have 6 of the top 10 highest grossing R rated movies and 6 of the top 10 opening weekends for R rated movies including the top 3.

I am still holding out some hope that this will be R rated even though it's more of a want for me than a need.

I don't think there's any way it'll R rated. I'll be very surprised if it is.

This weekend has single-handedly changed the game however.

WB now has absolute proof that an R-Rated film released in January can almost reach 100 million opening weekend. And it wasn't some mainstream blockbuster.

That's insane.

Imagine the hype for a mature genre flick featuring Will Smith and The Joker? That could justify the rating, especially if the budget doesn't soar too high.

Even with American Sniper's opening, I think they'll go PG-13 for Suicide Squad, especially since with this cast I think they're going large all around and that it will have a big budget. Besides, you can have a lot of violence in a PG-13 movie.

I will eat my loafers if they make it an R-rated film. With all of the PG-13 properties involved (such as Batman,) they are most certainly going for the PG-13 rating. Even though there is a 99.9999999999999% chance it will be PG-13, I will hold out hope for an uncut director's cut. But, if in the fraction of a chance I am proven wrong, I will bring out the salt, to apply to my loafers.

If Zack Snyder can get out of an R-rated bubble, so can David Ayer. I definitely expect this to be a very hard PG-13. I would be surprised if this was rated R.

American Sniper isn't apart of the DCCU, Suicide Squad is, it has zero chance of being R rated.

American Sniper might make WB more inclined to allow an R for some of their Vertigo adaptations down the line, but they'll stick to PG-13 for their superhero movies, especially the DCCU ones.

The Vertigo adaptions being R rated if need be sounds like a fine idea to me.

Honestly I like the idea of keeping the DCCU PG 13, I'm all for R rated films but making any of the DCCU films R rated is a bridge to far for me.

maybe for the Justice League Dark?
Not with Justice League in the title. And even with a different title, probably still not. The Sandman, on the other hand, they might allow an R.

Jared Leto "talks" Batman

With three words, Jared Leto has stirred up DC Comics movie fans. Leto is cast to play The Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, and he appears to already be getting into character for the role.
On Vyrt, a fan told Leto, “You’re reminding me of Batman, unseen hero!” Leto replied, “Batman is dead.”
Of course, Leto was probably just having a little fun, implying perhaps that his character Joker would kill Batman. However, it also left some fans wondering if Leto might have just let a detail slip out about the DC Cinematic Universe.
Could it be that Batman dies or is believed to be dead after Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice? In the Suicide Squad movie, could The Joker and the rest of the world think Batman is dead?
Probably not, as the comment seems more like just an offhanded joke. Regardless, it's certainly cool to see Leto teasing his upcoming role in a fun way.

Story details. Pretty heavy spoilers!!

Deadshot and Harley Quinn meet early when Deadshot is assassinating an inmate that is being transported from Arkham. Quinn disrupts the hit when she tries to break Joker out and both are captured and taken to Amanda Waller's prison.
Waller has Joker moved to the prison as a means to keep Quinn in check. He spends most of the film in a cell, very much like Hannibal Lecter, until he breaks out in the end.
Boomerang is already in the Squad and there is a contention between he and Deadshot, Deadshot killed his father.
The team is tasked on a mission to prevent 'bio weaponry' from being sold to Lex Luthor by a human trafficking gang. The gang is handing over the Enchantress to Luthor who it is implied wants her for magical abilities. They kidnap her and take her back to the prison where she is kept in an underground area, which has all sorts of genetic freaks imprisoned including a King Shark.
Rick Flag is there as a watchdog over Waller. The twist is his character is revealed as being in league with the villain, Rick Flag Snr at the end. (This is what I believe may have been the reason Hardy left) It is out of left field. They want the weapons that Waller has amassed.
There is a lot of action in the script but it primarily deals with Deadshot, Harley Quinn and the Joker. Flag is more of a government agent than anything else before his reveal as a villain.

Hopefully that isn't legit, I don't care for the stuff about Flagg. The rest sounds fine.

Do they get off on spoiling a movie? WB should seek legal action if true.

Nothing they can do about, trades do it for nearly all big blockbusters these days

If a site does get hold of a genuine script it's a dick move to completely spoil it.
