Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

If Belle Reve and Arkham are featured in this movie, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch especially if it's done in a "blink-and-you-miss" manner.

Kanye read that and was like, "*****, get over yourself."

Eh... I can't blame Will for wanting to add his bit into this nascient DCCU. Facts are, compared to CW Deadshot, for most in the wider world Smith And his performance are going to define Floyd in some way.

But I agree... He can't diva it up on set or undermine Ayer and his choices.

I see Big Willy is still as cocky and tunnel-visioned as ever.

Michael Rowe just tipped his head down and started walking toward traffic. At least Neal McDonough still has Dum Dum Dugan.

I do want his Floyd to be amazing though. I just wish he didn't always have such a self-serving agenda. I still remember the stories on MIB3 about him NEEDING to have his trailer at a certain proximity to set and how it made life hell for those that lived on that street. Also, AFTER EARTH. Get humble, Will.

You're just looking at everything he says with that image of him. If he sneezes, you'd think it was the most arrogant and egotistical sneeze.

I'm failing to see what is so wrong about what he said. This is going to be the biggest exposure the character has ever had.

Haha, probably right. I admit I have bias. I also know the man can act when he gets out of his own way. Hoping for the best.

Yeah I didn't see what was wrong with what he said either

Ayers said that he's researched a lot of classic 80's Squad for inspiration. My dream would be to see him include Kobra in some way. That would be a nice building block in this new DCCU to add in.

I saw nothing arrogant about Smith's comments at all. He wants to give the role more exposure. And this is wrong why? "Oh because he's Will Smith." :whatever:

Anyone else want to see the Squad up against The Kult of Kobra? Or are there too many similarities between it and MCU HYDRA?

Agreed.

I get people's fears about him taking over but can we at least wait and see and not read something awful into every little comment he makes about the character and project?

I would be all for it, but I dread the inevitable MCU/HYDRA comparisons.

Me too, but you could really get into some interesting areas with their beliefs and such which is kind of ignored with MCU HYDRA.

The belief in the Kali Yuga, the way they attract followers ect. could be ways to draw distinction. Plus... I would love to see BatFleck take on Kobra himself in some future film, say a LOD focused JL movie. He's one of the few guys that can stand toe to toe with the Dark Knight in hand to hand combat. I really liked the idea in IDENTITY CRISIS where in the DCU in prison while some turn to The Nation of Islam, or become Born Again, ect. that lots of people start joining the Kult as an alternative.

El Diablo was a member of the squad in the New 52. Could be an additional member, or an expendable one.

Yeah, and they could set them up in another movie.. Livewire in a Supes movie :hubba
Killer Frost... Imagine Livewire and Harley sharing scenes with their personalities :hubba

I like the line up so far but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see some other bona fide "powered" villains in the mix. Especially as "cannon fodder". It would make Deadshot, Boomer and the rest come off even more badass since a Live Wire or a Blockbuster eats it but they make it to the end of the mission. Plus it adds variety.

Remember that Belle Reeve is a must... so we may see some "important" villains that aren't part of the squad but that are contained there.

JARED LETO TALKS JOKER!!!!!

Playing the Joker onscreen means stepping into some big shoes left by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. So how is Jared Leto preparing for his role as the iconic Batman villain in Suicide Squad? By getting bigger.
"Do you mind if I eat a little?" Jared Leto asks Billboard during an interview for our new cover story, out Friday, Feb. 20. "I'm trying to gain a lot of weight. It means I have to eat every couple of hours -- and I'm terrible at eating a lot." (Case in point: Leto was eating vegan tacos during the interview, which are hardly the fattiest food on the market.)
Last December, Warner Bros. announced Leto would take on the Batman bad guy in a movie starring DC Comics supervillains. And he's not the only A-lister in the film: Will Smith also stars as Deadshot, alongside Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg.
The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of the transgender Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, explains the increasing complexity of graphic novels drew him to this project.
"The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character -- that's what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right?" Leto says. "[He's] this beautiful disaster of a character -- what a big challenge."
Read Billboard's full cover story about Jared Leto -- and fellow musician-actors including Jennifer Hudson and Jack Black -- on Friday, Feb. 20.
