I have a feeling I'm going to hate this Joker... He's my favorite DC villain, so it's sad. Starting from the first pic they revealed of him, I face palmed. I really hope he's going to surprise me, but there reviews aren't encouraging at all.

SS is tracking to do possibly $140 million or more if not that, it is definitely to 100million.
Why does the RT score matter?

The bad word of mouth could cause a 2nd week dip in box office.

Then stick to your comics, cartoons and tv shows. A studio isn't going to invest $200 -260 million to make niche movies or appeal to "a very singular minority". It's not smart business is it.

Do I look like someone who cares if the masses get what makes them happy? No, I'm not. You don't like the films why should I care? I like them. Only thing that matters to me. I couldn't care less about anybody else.

So you've had a sit down talk with WB and they've told you "we would rather take risks and potentially get profit or lose money than take something with no risk, bad buzz, and still make a profit?" I doubt that. But okay.
You do realize there has been legit talk about Time Warner being sold right?

What profit is there in $15-20m when you spend $400m and you have to split it a whole lot of ways?

TBH there's only a handful of critics I really pay attention to these days, all the others are just background noise to me. I'll wait to make my own judgment of the film. I've seen several fan reviews compare it to BTAS in tone, which sounds right up my alley.

Yeah, well that isn't what he said. He is explaining the business aspect and hence why this could be a problem with these films going forward.

That would have been an incredibly boring route. I want to see the characters interact with each other not be secluded in their own little worlds. The vast majority of fans want a shared DC universe not a separate ones

Really? You sure about that? Because 2.5 billion at the box office for The Dark Knight trilogy says different.

that's assuming audiences feel the same way about it as the critics do

some movies just aren't affected that much by a bad RT score

If that's true :hmr:

I'm in heaven.

I don't want to hate Leto's joker. I was so excited when he was rumored for the role, especially hearing that gosling had passed on the role.

When we got our first look, I was very off put by it, but I still had hope. And now with the things I'm hearing, it sounds like I'm going to be very disappointed.

Underwhelmed by the DCEU's portrayal of their two most iconic villains in back to back movies. I'm just sad.

I already said making niche films isn't a smart business decision pages back. It's a not smart business decision that I love because I've been in their minority niche. I couldn't care less about anybody else in these regards. So in that case all he'd be doing is repeating exactly what I said. :cwink:

Boring? It cannot be any worse than what we have so far. At the very least it would have allowed these characters to develop more before we potentially threw them in with others. Right now WB doesn't know how to properly sell their universe to the masses. WB is a company that has had failure after failure with their DC characters outside Batman and Superman. We as a fan base overestimated their plans with the DCEU and now its biting us in the ass.

I've always hated Leto's Joker look. The characterization I was banking on saving him for me. Based on what I've heard about it, the chances are slim I'll like it.

yeah the reviews said the Batman scenes felt right out of BTAS, and that Harley felt very similar to the cartoon version, and that Waller was basically identical to the one in the animated Justice League show

Reboot won't happen. The superhero genre won't last to the 20's.
If this DCEU all does end up failing, I doubt WB won't touch major DC characters for a while.
Perhaps in the 2040's they can try again, when Marvel is out the way.

Sell the comic book rights, sell them all! :cmad:

i'm genuinely sorry to hear that man, as i know how important the character is to you

That show is so underrated I never watched it but ending up marathoning it on netflix. I was all for Timm as head of dceu but no one want to see baffleck rooftop sex

If it were still on, I would be less mad about the DCEU being the main thing to watch outside of comics.

Timm has had that stuff in him all this time, he was just able to let it out since he wasn't making a cartoon for kids.

I think you've mistaken Ayer for someone else.

Ayer is a great writer and director. He's given us films like Training Day and End of Watch. Great character pieces.

He might not be George Miller, but he has a unique style and is a strong writer of morally grey and complete villains.

This reeks of WB neutering him.

And while you are holding fingers to your ears, you don't seem to realize that they won't be making these movies for very much longer. :funny:
