It's equally possible he didn't really want to do it, and he's just putting this out there as his public explanation.
There's no way Gadot can carry a movie so I don't have high expectations for WW.
Still doesn't make him any less sympathetic in the context of the story. It's very odd characterizations for supposed villains
Nothing about this movie felt dark other than the original trailer a year ago.
Movies are mostly digital now, so its not like she has to lift a heavy film reel or anything
Truly felt like that SDCC trailer was the tone and energy Ayer was going for. Literally everything since then felt polar opposite.

WW was shot on film.
The bogan is sympathetic? Sounds great.
Once again? When did he save DC before?
I don't understand why everyone have something against DC.... DC is iconic, DC is history, DC is original, DC's characters are mythological and dates back to 1940s.. many of its characters dates back to this time.. why does everyone hate the original but love the copy? ffs.
Edit: I also think the critics are biased... they probably are tired and wants to destroy the superhero genre.. so it's easier to pick on the fresh DC universe.

well, Gal's been working out so she can probably still manage

RoboCop 1987 is my favorite movie and Weller gives a perfect performance.
Yeah that's what I wanna know, my investment to this movie is mostly for Croc.
No he wasn't. He was the meaning of dull in RoboCop.
Gal didn't care about those fanboys wanting her to have extra large muscles and giant boobs. She worked out so she could carry the movie.
She might have to carry DC and WB at this rate.
