Yeah it's weird.

You didn't see many Fox fans acting like some of the DCEU fans

probably because before XMA they had this

DC has had zero critically praised films in this universe

Nothing new. An executive wants something different and asks the director to do so. He's not entirely happy with the idea so they meet in the middle. That's how movies have been and always will be made. But because these aren't critical darlings, out of nowhere these articles emerge about problems in the studio. Making it sound like it's a living hell in there.

Meanwhile, over at Disney Land, everything's perfect. All sunshine and rainbows. No one ever mentions about problems there, no one ever mentions the marketing budget.

The problem is not with the movie, it's with you. Get it through your heads - just because you don't like a movie, that does not mean it's poorly made!

Lot of problems with Rogue One. It's getting mentioned over at Disney land as well.

For Suicide Squad executives hired 5 uncredited editors to bring out a version they liked, after taking a lot out of Ayer's original tone and going by test screenings. So a lot of scenes (as told by critics and people here) felt missing the narrative felt wonky. WB is being reactionary to one set. It's one thing to give notes, another thing to completely take over.

They need to stop being reactionary on all of these films. If every film is trying to "make up" for the perceived flaws of the last one, then that's a terrible way to build a universe long-term.

Also if the reports are to be believed, then maybe, just maybe WB got this a bit backwards. Perhaps a character like Superman is better suited for a more fun, upbeat, optimistic movie, while a bunch of murderers, psychos, and criminals are better suited for a darker and grittier one. Imagine that.

Yeah, I just said the same thing in another thread. BvS should have been the fun and lighthearted movie, and the movie about murderers and psychos should have been the dark one. It's not rocket science.

i just read that david ayer wrote SS script in 6 weeks lol

no wonder the writing is being bashed

I don't think this is the problem. 6 weeks is a long time to work on something if you are totally invested in doing just that. I am sure he had ideas running around in his head far before that and had already had stuff in the works. We all know that scripts change throughout movies... you write something that doesn't translate well on film and you change it.

My problem is this.... they need to involve REAL comic book people in these movies and scripts. WB probably isn't too worried about SS.... they know people will still go see it no matter what. I am.

I don't know what they problem is...I don't know if WB is turning into 20th century fox and just can't get ahold of anything good or what... but SS "should" be sort of our redemption movie. I will wait and see the movie for myself before I go in thinking its going to be bad or have mixed reviews.... I am sure there are people out there who didn't like TDK at all... so I will take it with a grain of salt.

#SuicideSquad is its own amazing beast, I can see why a lot of critics were freaked by it but damn I thought that was amazing. DC fan dream.

So maybe its just another film huge DC fans will like/love?

So suicide squad IS fun? Good to hear.

I think that was probably the issue. If Johns was had a chance to do a re-write it may have turned out better.

6 weeks is PLENTY of time to work on a script especially if thats your job. Heck, i think you could work out a good script in 2 weeks if you already have your outline and know where your going with the story.

It just sounds like Ayer and the studio had creative differences and of course the studio won and mangled his vision.

And who the F are these people's accountants? Whos approving these ridiculous budgets?? This is embarrasing. I didnt know it was that easy to get studios to shell out cash like that. These people need to STOP spending so much and learn to make movies with a conservative budget.

What a mismanaged studio.

I tell you what, I'm not a scrap it all and start over guy(why would I be, I'm on board) but if tomorrow they announced they were focusing on only a post-apocalyptic Justice League movie set in Bruce's dream world, I'd be all for it.

What surprised me is that apparently the movie cut itself was done by company that made the trailers.
Because SS trailer reception were immense.
Holy knee-jerk reaction, WB. :funny:

WB have resources, full DC rights and talented actors and filmmakers. Great marketing. Just bad decisions, bad management.
It's not too late though, DC - WB rise!

We will just have to wait and see how the general audience reacts to this movie and how WOM is. The critics have had their say. Now it's the audience's turn. It really all comes down to that Cinemascore.

Here's what I find so confusing. The actual comic related sites have given it a passing grade...

One thing that this report does make me wonder is if WB should just hire some guy from Trailer Park to actually direct their films. Because most of their trailers get really positive reactions. And then the films come out and they get trashed. I'm tired of feeling like the trailer is always better than the movie.

Is this all because Ayer said "f*** marvel?"

Yes, absolutely. The critics immediately went home after that and rewrote their reviews because he insulted their Marvel Overlords. And then THR fabricated that article because Kevin Feige told them to.

I knew it. It all makes sense now. :o
