Even though the costume is an exact copy of he animated series costume?
What looks great as a heavily stylized cartoon doesn't translate well into live action.

I'm so freaking pissed they butchered abusive relationship between Mr. J and Harl... I'll never forgive this crap. :cmad:

i agree with you about that costume.
it just doesn't look good in live action imo.

the abusive part is probably on the cutting room floor we do know he slaps her lol

they probably got cold feet due to the female audience

Obviously. WB continue to be clueless morons. Other breaking news - water, wet.

Ayer filmed it. So at least it's not his fault.

For me BvS >> MoS >>>>>>>>>>>>>> (freaking bottom of the pit) SS.

I guess this was needed. They made SS more up-beat and lighthearted, but now they'll know that whatever they do, they can't win with a certain group of people. Now stay away from JL, Wonder Woman and any future DC films, please. Leave the directors to do their job.

Yeah I cannot believe I'm saying that but same here. BvS and MoS as much as I didn't like them didn't feel like such disappointments to me and were actually somewhat coherent. I mean Bohemian Rhapsody was just playing on the radio and I think WB ruined that song for me cause all I could do was think of Squad and shake my head.

Yeah Margot is awesome and I always love Jared but those are tiny pieces of the movie and something working well to not working ratio is tragic. BvS at least has Batfleck and that warehouse scene, WW and Jeremy Irons and while watching TC I never had a sense - or in the case of Squad KNEW - tons of the movie was cut for dumb reasons.

They went so far with this bull****, that Batman '89, Batman Returns, TDK and TDKR, even The Winter Soldier, felt significantly darker. And it's a movie, that is supposed to be about deeply troubled characters, outright villains sent on a suicide mission... What's the point in making a movie like that and throw it all out of window, and leave just poorly-written quips to make it funny and uplifting, and uninspired action? Everything, that was exciting about the movie ended up on a cutting floor. And considering the plot itself is crap on it's own, as well as writing, the result is outrageous.

GRRRRR... (

So you wanted this movie to be dark and depressing and awful like BvS? got it...

I do get Boose's frustration. It should have been easy to do this property justice, but somehow they crapped the bed in multiple respects.

I dont think that's what he meant... but yeah, there is a good cut of this movie out there that we probably wont see thanks to WB.

What's bizarre is that even some jokes from the trailers didn't make it into the movie. It's truly incomprehensible - script in 6 weeks, not directing Leto at all, the whole editing process. Just a mess.

It's not about the tone, imho. It can be light and silly, or dark and serious, that is not what matters. Just give us coherent, engaging movie that doesn't feel butchered.

I agree.

WB didn't mess with them half-way into production trying to turn them into something else (outside forced cut of BvS). Regardless if people liked them or not, they were artistic intentions of their creators, at the very least. This intrusion turned already quite screwed-up movie into... Ugh.

The cast is amazing indeed. But the cut is so terrible, it often felt like a trailer. I was in a complete disbelief...

One source said that the main credited editor for Suicide Squad, John Gilroy (Nightcrawler), had actually left by the end of the editing process, and that the final editor was Michael Tronick (The Green Hornet).

Reading everything these people were saying about the movie in retrospective, especially Ayer, makes it look even more bizarre.

I was talking about the tone, because I believe the abusive relationship was edited out as a part of making the movie more fun and lighthearted. And to spare it from any controversy, which is silly, since we're talking about bad guys with established comic book background. Not because I'm advocating for a dark movie for the sake of it being dark. I love dark movies, but dark movies still can have comedy, uplifting moments and even end on a brighter note.

Well yeah, it was. Which is nonsensical because you cannot just make one movie and then after it is all done and shot try to change it into whole different movie. And you can't just edit the movie with trailer production company. And you can't just downgrade supporting performance you built marketing around to a cameo.

But WB went 'yeah, we can' :/

Exactly. Funny and sad thing at the same time - I was saying they're overselling the Joker prior to the movie's release. Well ****... (

I think Charles Roven is a big problem with the DCEU and I'm glad WB are reducing his influence going forward. His lackadaisical attitude and comments first about BvS and now Suicide Squad, suggest to me someone who doesn't give a s*** about these characters or this universe.

When he is part of the DCEU brains trust, then you have Deborah Snyder who of course is going to back her husband 100% it becomes increasingly clear that some serious change is needed at the very top. I really hope Johns and Berg can make a difference, but we'll see.

I just finished the novelization. DEAR LORD is it so much better. First act is completely restructured. They actually have multiple scenes developing Flagg/Moon's relationship. The original dinner scene with Amanda Waller is kept intact. Little bits of added dialogue throughout the whole thing really add a lot. There is actually a build-up to the Midway City attack. The second act is more similar to what we got in the movie, only developed far better with each action sequence progressively building and showing the teamwork developing between the Squad. Third act is mostly the same. Unfortunately they still nix most of the Joker/Harley story. But had the movie kept same structure of the novel and had the full Joker/Harley relationship fleshed out(abuse and all) this movie could have been an easy 9/10 for me(as it stands now, I have it at a 6). I love 85% of the content of the movie(liked Enchantress up until she became a CG God with a horrendous voice, and pissed they cut out the heart of the Joker/Harley story) but the technical issues of this movie are unforgivable.

After hearing him say his favorite line from BvS is Lex's, "you should not pick a fight with this person" line, I started doubting him lol.

When he completely deflected about the competing cuts of Suicide Squad by basically saying "this is how it works in Hollywood" that was it for me. He just seems to come across really arrogant and dismissive in his interviews with his seemingly "like it or not we don't really care" attitude. Typical old school Hollywood exec mentality.

As opposed to someone like Feige who deeply knows and cares about the source material, I hope this is why Johns was bought on.

Yewww... I absolutely hate this live-action look of the original costume. And it comes from someone, who ADORES Bruce Timm's art and designs in BTAS.

I've never liked how it translates to live action, or even video games.
Honestly, even most other artists drawings of it too. It seems to really only work in Timms style, and in the cartoon.

Outside of that, I find it works best to just have nods to it, like with the coloured pigtails, etc.

These rankings are hilariously all over the place.

Mine would be, based on theatrical cuts so far, MoS > BvS > SS.
Including the Ulitimate Edition: BvS:UE >>>> MoS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SS
