Not really. The only person who legitimately knocked it all the way out the park and then some was Margot Robbie.

For instance, Killer Croc is more integral here because he's actually a part of the team and he has about the same amount to do as the Joker here.

Ayer's garbage script is the downfall of this movie which i get why WB was trying to save it with reshoots/edits. If didn't have enough time to write a good script then why didn't he try to get it delayed or have someone else like Johns look at it and do rewrites? Roven is to blame too for fast tracking it which is why he got kicked off DC movies. I'm pretty sure WB trusted Roven and Ayer to the point where they really didn't need to look at the script which ended up biting them in the ass.

Yeah, no. Those are probably the worst assumptions I've ever read.

*Remembers recent presumptions about Tim Miller probably wanting to take the comedy out of the 'Deadpool' sequel* - Oh no, they're not. Don't worry 'bout it.

How is it an assumption when Ayer himself said he pitched the movie to the studio along with Roven even though he was still writing the script at that time? All WB did was approve it and had to fast track it to make the release date. Between the time Ayer was announced as the director and the actors signing on wasn't even a year, which likely meant that it was fast tracked.

It was Leto doing his worst Jim Carrey impression.

I don't see it. Not even a little bit. Leto did alright with what he had. I really like him in the extended shock therapy scene.

This seemed like a fun Joker cameo without too much to it. I'll judge Leto as Joker properly when he gets a full chance in a film where he is the focus.

I just finished watching this movie last night and personally I don't get all the hate surrounding this film. To me this movie was on par with GOTG or any other MCU movie (expect for the last 2 Captain America movies). This movie IMO was just a fun move and didn't take itself to serious. As I said before I think it was a good movie and just don't understand the hate it gets. The only issue I had with the movie was Deadshot only wore the mask twice during the movie.

It's obvious they edited and reshot scenes to make the movie feel like a marvel one. Ironically, people who like them are saying how **** SS is and they are also the reason this happened, because of their stupid complaints about the tone in BVS.

Anyone betting that this extended cut of Suicide Squad might lead to an uptick in sales like it did with Dawn of Justice? Especially around the holiday season.

General audiences ate the movie up. It'll do great on home video.

I personally loved the tone of SvB and thought the only thing wrong with that movie was the lack of Superman which was corrected in the UE.

Exactly. Unfortunately it may be the last of that tone we see in the forthcoming DC Films. The masses are used to and expect the Marvel formula and tone... which I think works great for those films, but I'd rather DC be different, edgier -much like the tone already established prior to Suicide Squad.

I agree while I thought Suicide Squad was a good movie I kept thinking it could've been much better if it wasn't trying to be one big joke much like how the MCU movies are.

I standby Leto he is the best actor for the role. He was written some corny lines and acted them out how I'd expect from reading that and being the type of Joker he is, not a mopey dark hobo anarchist in the more realistic world of TDK. He worked with the character and universe he was written and designed in. I do wish Snyder would've started the Joker before Ayer got a hold of the character though. Oh well.

Blooper reel

Because we can't defend the new without insulting the old, right ?

Ledger's Joker was not "mopey " . There's a difference between being mopey and being cold/calculating. His " mopeyness " , as you call it , is no different from what you'd see in Batman #1 in 1940 or in The Dark Knight Returns....

Pining over your lost gf , THAT is mopey.

Has anyone seen the extended cut? If so, is it better?

Yeah, it's marginally better. But the dialog overall is just creditworthy at times. Seeing it again just reinforces the theory that the script was very weak. You have ideas scenes, but no real transition and composition. The editing is really glaring and you can tell this wasn't edited by people who knew what they were doing. Non of the new scenes really changed my opinion on the movie, either better or worse. So those of us who mostly enjoyed it, will probably still, and those who didn't, probably won't. Also, the super macho talk you see with Flag and Deadshot irritated me to no end.

also still so many scenes that were in the trailers but are not in the movie. The scene with Harley and Joker on the street after she chased him was also missing parts we saw from the youtube video somebody filmed last year. We dont see how he hits her and stands over her for example.

It`s so annoying to know that somewhere in a briefcase there is literally an entire movie worth of Joker scenes.... as Jared Leto said.

Also, it still amazes me that they left in the movie a scene of her removing the choker for no apparent reason, because they changed the helicopter scene.

You know, maybe Ayer's full version of the movie jived better, but I guess when you take his script, shorten it, sanitize it from all the Joker/Harley domestic violence, you get this mess. It's was a fun mess for me, but is small consolation when I know that in there somewhere is an actually decent movie.
