Honestly one of my main problems with Skwad is how dead the movie feels. Y'know most scenes seem wooden and lifeless.

I still find it interesting that even in the light of their huge BO success, WB hasn't talked about greenlighting a sequel. The talk seems to be around Harley's solo movie. Maybe despite the profit, the negative reviews really have affected WB's decision making and they're calling it quits on this property?

Don't know if you discussed this before. Mark Hamill recently said this. Source

Asked what he thought of Jared Leto’s portrayal of the manic, deranged, murderous clown, in Warner Bros. Suicide Squad, Hamill said that he loved his performance, adding that he hasn’t seen an interpretation yet that’s made him go, "That was terrible." Instead, Hamill explained, the key to enjoying different iterations of the character was to look for what that version needed to be in that moment. Jack Nicholson’s Joker, Hamill said, was very different from Heath Ledger’s simply because it had to be.

"Everyone brings a different spin to the character and you have to look at each script separately," Hamill said. "I don’t think there’s a definitive version of the Joker and I don’t think there can be. It’s like Hamlet, really. It’ll be constantly redefined."

It's not like he was going to say that he hated it, even if he did. I don't follow Hamil that closely, but he seams extremely professional. And that is the best response really.

An Easter egg ya'll, someone over at Reddit spotted the name 'Falcone'.....

They are probably still moving the pieces to get it to fit. I will be very surprised if it doesn't happen, WB spent a lot of time and money building the Squad brand and characters like Harley and Deadshot are basically household names now.

I don't think Ayer will be back, he had nothing to do with the Extended Cut and he has said nothing about the home release for months, it's kind of telling. So you have the search for a new director plus the stars having to align so everyone has a clear schedule to film, I think it is probably already in the works behind the scenes but we may not hear anything for awhile or it may not come till after the Harley solo.

It'd be odd if a proper sequel was not green-lit, given the amount of money it made.

I doubt they will...this movie was a mess. I like it, I do. But I can look at it objectively, especially when I bring out the filmmaker side of myself.

Yes, this movie managed to make a lot of money, but it didn't leave a lasting impression on people in the way Deadpool did or that Doctor Strange is doing.

They know that overall this movie was a mess and maybe they are done with this property? Only reason they wouldn't have said a word about it 'til now while greenlighting Harley's project.

Even with BvS having an extremely polarizing effect, they still moved forward with almost no problem. SS probably ain't gonna be a repeat case with that.

Cut down the budget and reduce the scale, and I might be interested in a sequel.

These guys should be going after terrorist cells, not witches and Superman-like beings. I remember El Maybe reported that Antiphon and ONSLAUGHT were going to be the villains in this at one point. Give me that next time.

^ Exactly! This would've been an ideal place to introduce somebody like Deathstroke as a primary antagonist. God, just to think of the many routes they could've taken that would've been so much more concise....

Well I just don't see it not happening given the amount of money it made and the built-in star power they have with Smith and Robbie. As for not leaving an impression Halloween was crazy with the amount of Harleys and saw a fair few Jokers too.

BvS is different because Justice League starting filming literally a few weeks after BvS came out it was way too late to retool it significantly. I do believe WB are going to take their time with this and really dissect what went wrong before they announce production on a sequel.

And I really believe Ayer is done, so first thing will be finding a new writer and director.

I mean honestly, it'd be worth giving James Gunn a phone call.

Been a while since I've been on here and haven't really followed SS on here, what is the consensus now?

I really enjoyed this movie when I first saw it in theatres flaws n all. But ever since my second viewing the flaws now just outweigh the good. I made the foolish mistake today of seeing Arrival and and Suicide Squad in the same day.

It just made all of SS studio meddling hacked together 4th cut of a movie all the more blatantly bad. I mean I literally think the scene in Arrival, a beautifully simple scene of 4 people entering the spaceship for the first time, is longer than the entire backstory of Harley and Joker.

That opening act/half is a completely ****ing mess. Start with Floyd intro, then Harley intro, then 15 seconds of Waller, then title card, then back to Waller who then introduces Deadshot and Harley and then everyone else who for whatever reason weren't shown earlier on? Then introduce Slipknot and Katana half way through. Then give like 4 members of the squad nothing to do?

I just don't know what hell they were trying to make there. And I'm 99% certain WB to this day have no idea what Suicide Squad is.

I both love and hate The Joker. There is a lot of good but also a lot of bad. But I can't blame it too much on Leto cause it's so freaking obvious his role has been butchered. He doesn't have a single scene. More like vignettes sprinkled through out the movie. Also you're really gonna have Batman, The Joker and Harley for the first time in history in a live action movie together and not have a decent scene with them?

And then there is the extended cut. The BvS one makes a genuine difference. This one was like an extra kick in the dick. Surely they MUST have known that all the scenes we wanted to see we're not the scenes they added.

This has to go down as one of the most frustrating movies in years. There is quite clearly a completely different version of this movie that we'll never see or existing scenes that are so clearly manipulated (that Common scene is laughable when you know how it originally was written).

Basically, I think changing the ending of Joker rescuing Harley would have made the movie better.

That way, we can have:

Joker pushing Harley off the helicopter, and
Joker returning with the grenade, with Harley rejecting him.

It would've made their relationship more interesting.

Cutting that final Joker scene must have been incredibly late. I swear they were using it up until days before release. Surely it's some kind of false advertising to knowingly play footage that isn't in the movie.

There's the basis of a good movie there, in theory. But they fumbled the execution. The Suicide Squad extended edition isn't a patch on the BvS UC.

Even the basis isn't a good movie though.

For me it's okay, but the fact they dropped the ball is annoying. It could've been so much more.

I mean honestly, it'd be worth giving James Gunn a phone call.

But knowing how the studio operates in the editing department, would he even be interested enough to take the job if they did call?

Leto is a good Joker.

His issue was that he was in a Suicide Squad movie before a Batman movie.
Its also still a bit too close since Heath's Joker.

I think if they had did a Batman/Joker movie first he would have had more room to breathe and a better guide to craft his Joker. Ayer is actually good for the Squad, but not the best option for the Joker. At least in terms of starting up the Joker.

Fans would have accepted his role/usage in Suicide Squad if they already saw him do a great job in the solo Batman film.

The one thing Leto did that works as both a positive and a negative is that he seems legit insane.

There are times where he's batting a 1000 on how he's portraying "the Joker" and then other times he just seems like some loon. Which is maybe what he was going for. The issue is his dress style kind of makes his off kilter mannerisms stick out more.

I'm very confident he'll do great in a Ben Affleck Batman movie. I also think based on how that movie goes it will help those look back on his performance here in better light.

Suicide Squad is a movie that should have been GREAT. It's not, but there is enough good in this movie. Especially in the extended cut.

Its not a typical superhero movie.

It's like a John Carpenter studio film. I dig it. Sucks that it could have been much better. However, there are enough strong performances and cool moments to view it as cool summer flick. Will be very re-watchable on tv years from now. Unlike some Superhero movies that played it way too safe.

It's crazy how much they f-ed up with this movie. For me.

It's crazy how much people are making this out to be horrible movie. Despite the issues with the studio.

There were a LOT of horrible movies this year. The quality of this movie isn't far off the typical summer popcorn flicks.

Hell its Carpenter meets Fast Five.

It's jarring when looking at it in contrast to the Snyder films. It lacks the polish of the Marvel films (which outside of the first Ironman movie took years to find its footing). Yet, there is a real cult following emerging for this movie.
