What did he say and how long ago was it?

I can't quote him verbatim but it was at least about a week or two ago, I believe, where he basically shipped Joker/Harley as the new Bonnie & Clyde.

Johns is moronic. He wants to be DC's Kevin Fiege so bad but is making all of the reverse moves.

Personally wasn't the biggest fan of Leto's voice. Reminded me of Jim Carrey's Riddler with a hint of Heath Ledger. It wasn't horrible but I wish he went with the Hamill-esque voice he displayed at the TSTM concert

Leto shouldn't be aping Hamill or anyone else. Do your own thing, just make sure it's good.

Agreed. The voice is fine, imo. He just needs to hone it a little more.

Maybe unfair, but I'm not sold on Johns at all in a role so big.

Truth be told I wish Affleck went to Scott Snyder to help his screenplay instead of Johns.

Same. Although there are a lot of ex-Batman writers I would have preferred him to go to over Johns. I rate Johns and think he is a good writer, but not with Batman IMO.

Even though I am not a fan of this movie I've decided to give a fan edit a go.
What I've got so far is -
-Opening Logos
-The pentagon scene
-Deadshot looking through his window which triggers a flashback to the scene with his daughter, Batman scene but with the some of the BvS score over the fight scene instead.
-Then we go to wear the movie starts with the shots of Belle Reve, Deadshot boxing, gets a beating. But with an actual score over it.
-Harley hanging in her cell (without the music again, different score) this triggers a flashback which starts at "doctor quinzell..." (Arkham Asylum) then the session happens, the break out but it cuts as she gets the shock to black
-Waller arriving at Belle Reve, same as usual but I cut the part where it shows Diablo's powers. I'm gonna leave it a secret until he actually reveals it to the Squad.

That's all I got so far, might change things up in there.

Here's a pretty good fan edit of the torture scene. No purple filter craziness and the original "really, really bad" shot is back.

his dialog is cringe-worthy most of the time. i get why all those extended scenes were cut because the dialog is 90% terrible. a line or two is good, classic joker, but the rest, when he goes into his tirades about how he is an idea, and bla, bla, bla - just BAD.

Sounds like a great start! Removing the songs will be a huge improvement.
What about removing the animated skulls and "video game stats" that popped up during the character intros? Those bits really took me out of the movie.

Said it once and I'll say it again, Enchantress was hotter like that. Far more appealing (to me, anyway).

My thoughts exactly. With Snyder, we'd know for a fact that the story will be solid all around because he's a great writer. With Johns you're just wondering where and when some nonsensical b.s. will show.

Grrr, I just watched the extended cut all the way through, what a garbage movie. I still can't believe Ayer and co made this mess. I legitimately think Suicide Squad is right up there with Green Lantern and Fan4stic as one of the worst modern day comic book movies.

Best thing about SS is Robbie's performance, I liked her a lot as Harley Quinn, but I wish her accent was more consistent.

Oh yeah the character intros are completely different, no Waller giving their stats or anything like that.

Ok, call me insane, and I probably am, but I finally got sit down and watch the extended cut and this is my first time revisiting the film since theaters in August. i actually enjoyed it more the second time.I mean, look, the movie's undoubtedly a mess, we've all agreed on that, but there's a charm to the movie which got me. This movie lives or dies on your enjoyment of the characters and performances in the film. If you don't like them, the film has nothing for you, if you do, the film can be fun for you. I think that's what it boils down to.

There's some sloppy writing and pacing for sure, but I kinda grew to love this ragtag group of characters and I definitely want to see more of them in a much better written sequel. I just love that bar scene where the team bonds, you can tell that's where Ayer's direction and writing was strongest, when the characters are just bonding and bantering. We needed more of that so that we really believe they are a family by the end of the film.

The first time I watched this in theater my reaction was "meh, it was ok, kinda fun. I'd give it a pass." My reaction now is "its enjoyable fun." I can now see why this movie grossed as much as it did, I could picture a lot of regular moviegoers who maybe aren't as harsh and critical as us fanboys having a good time with this movie.

So, yeah, a fun mess. :p

You don't need to defend it. Look at the box office numbers.

People keep saying "it's a win cuz it made so much money! omfgggxjhjd!"

Eh, if it's such an overwhelming success why hasn't a sequel been greenlit? Why hasn't Ayer been announced to be back on board even though he blatantly said he'd "love to do an R-Rated sequel?"

Answer: WB and Ayer ****ed up and they know it. Box office aside, know SS is a mess. A big, lucky mess.

And I guarantee no more superhero films as scattered as SS or as polarizing as BvS will make that money again. It's like Family Guy where Spider-Man randomly saves people: "Everybody gets one."
