Aside from Fast Five, I hope Universal gets successful adventure films again someday.

It saddens me because Universal is remembered so well for their adventure/summer blockbusters. A good amount of them being good and some of their most notable from Steven Spielberg.

yea, it is a bit different when you don't have bay on the poster.

^If they design the aliens ships to look enough like TF than they could certainly fool some people that they'll be getting the same kind of movie. Its coming out on memorial day I believe which should help boost it. Not sure what its competition is yet.

I don't know about that.

Battleship had one of the worst trailers I've seen in a long time. It's looks terrible.

Agreed. It looks dreadful.

Saw Harry Potter again this afternoon. Tons of little kids there to see The Smurfs.

I'm going to see Cowboys & Aliens tomorrow. I still think it looks pretty cool.

Depends who you ask, the general audience has no shame.
This trailer popped up on the hip hop websites for instance and it seems to be going over well.

Complete ripoff's of other huge blockbusters are almost never hugely successful. I think that Universal knows that have a dud, thats why they have been cancelling all of those risky projects.

Battleship looks dead on arrival. I'm still waiting for the Hungry, Hungry Hippos adaptation.

I'm still seeing Cowboys and Aliens. The concept is just too wacky and awesome not to pass up for me. I don't know about this weekend since I'll be working, but on my day off, I have to.

I'd rather take the risk of making an R rated Mountains of Madness adaptation that would actually have a better chance of being good over a PG-13 board game adaptation that looks like utter ****.

Yeah, I know the latter is less risky, and I know studios don't think of quality over quantity, but damn. It's a harsh truth. :csad:

That money for Battleship could have been used for Mountains of Madness. :csad:

Said it before, but it's a true sign to it's terribleness when one hires Brooklyn Decker and Rihanna over real actresses.

It's deja vu but they're both sexy as **** but Rihanna is a singer. Not an actress. She's only there to get people in seats thinking she'll show skin. As seen in the trailer, Decker already is in a bikini...another selling point.

I might even see it if it gets decent reviews, but right now...I'm avoiding this like a plague.

Peter Berg. He made The Rundown. He's directing Battleship. **** you guys, I'm seeing it opening day. :o

Off topic but I saw Face/Off for the first time yesterday...

One word to describe: What?

God is The Rundown overrated. It's so "amazing" that I hardly remember it.

Peter Berg is more bankable with less films than del Torro. I think Universal is playing it safe.

anyways, Potter is trailing TF by 10mill world wide at this point, only a matter of time before it passes it for the tentative number 2 spot this year.
TF has yet to open in Japan but has recently opened China (two huge markets)
Potter has yet to open in China but has been out in Japan since the jump (two huge markets)

Domestic is a slightly different story.
