Supergirl Supergirl Costume Discussion Thread

I prefer a classic comics style for Supergirl. I think they should go with bright colors, with a classic "S" on the chest and a simple oval-shaped belt buckle. I'm not against pants or other minor alterations, but I am against knee-high boots and bare midriff designs.

I definitely don't want pants on Supergirl. I want her to wear a skirt. If she has something like the Matrix Supergirl/ Helen Slater Supergirl costume, that would be good.

The problem with a skirt, is that it needs tights of some form, which always seem to look bad with the boots.

It doesn't need tights. It never needed tights for the Helen Slater costume and that looked fine.

Melissa Benoist has nice legs.

I think the skirt is a must. Pants look too masculine.

So women who wear slacks or jeans or leggings look like men?

Same here.

Maybe she could wear red shorts like the style she has on in this pic:

Or cycling shorts-style hot pants perhaps? I think I prefer red down below than blue. It just breaks up the colour a bit more.

I feel like a lot of these suggestions come about because Kara is a woman and not because they're something that one can imagine a person would realistically want to wear in the situations your average superhero would find themselves in.

agreed

if i was fighting crime or whatever, those would be two of the last things i would think to wear lol. i just don't know how psylocke has done it all these years
i prefer the skirt idea, but there would definitely be some shorts akin to what volleyball players wear underneath. if you're going to be flying and floating, you definitely don't wanna squirrel shot someone

Squirrel shot?

Consult the "urban dictionary." :word:

Presumably Supergirl is wearing knickers under her skirt though.

Most tennis players wear the equivalent of cycling shorts under their skirts.

Yeah, the skirt's always presented this issue to me.

They absolutely need to make it clear that she's at least got shorts underneath, if they decide to go for the skirt. I'm rather mixed on the skirt myself. It makes little sense, but at the same time it'd almost feel weird having her without it for me.

I've said it before, but I'd probably settle for shorts.

Googling "squirrel shot" and looking through the images is not what I expect from Urban Dictionary's definition. :o

Hahaha how true :woot:

Urban Dictionary. Squirrel Shot.
Secretly catching a glimpse of a woman's underwear.

"I was sitting in class and caught a squirrel shot under Kristen's desk. Damn thats a fat squirrel."

Oh my :funny:

Shorts will be used methinks! That is if her costume requires them, although tight shorts or sports shorts can also offer an 'otter view'...sorry, a 'rat glance', a 'beaver spot'.....darn these various animals and their strange meanings!

Maybe we can not mention that squirrel again until we see what she's wearing :woot:

I think she will look great if other TV costumes are anything to go by. Pity Michael Wilkinson isn't doing it though. I'm just thinking that if Winslow is making her suit for her and he is some kind of tech genius in this, then maybe her suit will have some kind of advanced material that he comes up with or steals from his job? maybe near indestrutable? Or maybe he will just make multiple suits and hang them at the back of his wardrobe...

Wynn works alongside her at CatCo, so it's doubtful that he'd be stealing the materials needed to make her suit from there.

Thanks for pointing that out, I don't know where I read that he worked in a tech division? oh well, that's the interwebs for ya I guess. He is a tech wiz working as a programmer at CatCo and as you say it would be doubtful there would be what he needs to make her suit at work.

Maybe he uses a small army of trained squirrels to sew and create multiple suits. They are extremely talented creatures you know!

I'll stop with the squirrel stuff...
