Trust me, this works better.

A little more red somewhere would me nice, thinking on her arms maybe. Not a huge fan of the leather bits on the shoulders. Still, looks good.

I agree that it's odd for the CW to release professional photos of Mon-El, Reign and Dreamer over the seasons yet can't do the same thing for Supergirl when she has her new suit.

I'm sure the new suit will grow on me, but I definitely prefer the old one as of now.

And I'm sure they were saving the "official" unveiling of the new suit with a proper promo pic for SDCC this week. It just got away from them as usual, lol.

The cape attachments are different; but I can’t tell (on my old monitor) about the shield.

The shield appears to be the same as always. It looks as though they utilized the same cape clasp option as the Superman and Mon-El suits.

But yes, it does look more 'adult.' In the new pic, with the new hair and suit, she now looks like Superwoman, rather than Supergirl.

As for color, I think it has a good balance. Those are some tall red boots and the red cape. Maybe they could have given her some 'vambrace' style red treatments over the forearms - or some kind of red crotch/diaper thing...

Also I think they gave her a detachable cape this time like Supes and Mon-El got, which I'm guessing Melissa's probably happy about. No more cape corset!

I hate the look of the detachable cape but might as well go full throttle if they are making Melissa comfortable which I cant blame her for.

Not a fan of New suit, the color scheme, cape attachments and suit fabric.

Several superhero ensembles employ a single/dominant color scheme. Just within the TV Arrowverse: GA is all dark green; the Flash is mostly red; and Batwoman - apart from shield and hair - is black. Indeed, the new SG costume has conspicuously more contrasting elements (cape, boots, shield, belt) than Batwoman’s. So, color balance-wise, SG is looking okay. And if they had shortened the boots to calf-length, it would still be okay.

I really like it, wish they'd gave her the cape design like suggested below but all and all a cool new look. Maybe just me as well I don't know if its the suit or the hair but she has a more seasoned look.

I'll be sad to see the old uniform go. It has been, and still is, perfect. It is iconic and never something that has been in the way of her fighting crime. Plus, she looks awesome in it!

But if it does have to go, I could go for something like this...

I love the New52 cape design. I really like the way it overlaps around the neck. And the way they have it draped over the shoulders brings the red of the cape all the way around.

With her new suit, just give her some red gauntlets or forearm flashes, and it would be stellar!
As is right now, it is only perfect.

She looks younger and more more mature, which is pretty cool. I think it's mostly the shot though, as she has a serious expression and stance going on.

The skirt though, definitely has a de-aging factor that may be at Marvel-levels.

A few takeaways. One, that looks like a totally different actress. Weird. Two, it's a strong suit and definitely modeled after Tyler's suit. Three, you can definitely tell the designers were influenced by Captain Marvel's suit. They clearly wanted to get away from the "girl" in Supergirl and make her more empowering. Four, I've still given up on this show. The transparent political bias is off the charts and I am getting pretty tired of Hollywood (and the CW as a whole) using entertainment to push their soapbox thoughts and agendas. I enjoy the crossover event but I've stopped watching The Flash as well. Never liked Arrow. It's a poor man's Batman and Legends feels like an unnecessary add to the lineup.
