At this point, based on the trailer, the supporting cast doesn't seem that big yet: Her sister, her boss and two co-workers. I hope we get more and hope they are interesting.

The current Main Cast of Characters consists of Kara herself (Melissa Benoist), her sister Alex (Chyler Leigh), James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), her boss, Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), and Alex's boss, Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), with Laura Benanti (Alura Zor-El), Robert Gant (Zor-El), Jeremy Jordan (Wynn Schott), Helen Slater (Mrs. Danvers), and Dean Cain (Mr. Danvers) in guest/potentially recurring roles.

But of course they can't call her Superwoman because that's evil Wonder Woman from another dimension.

Or, if you ask my younger sibling, Batman v Superman came up with the name Wonder Woman and she's always been called Superwoman and they're just caving into online feminists.

No, I am not joking right now. :funny:

I think if the show had established her being 16 or so, then Supergirl would have no flack, and the name would stick even after she gets older. To be 25 though starting out? Should be Superwoman.

Because the character is called "Supergirl"

So here's a question: alot of people have asked this, discuss this, even provided their own costume designs on the subject. We all have seen that Superman exists, we don't know what role or how much presence he will have on the show, but he exists. What do you guys think his costume will look like?

Like I said in the other thread you asked this in: I think just fleeting glimpses. Cape, some color. But I do not think we will see Superman in his full glory.

They are starting her out at too late an age is the point.

What's to say that when she was younger she didn't do heroic acts like Clark did in Smallville, and she is just now deciding to come forward and reveal herself to the world? Like it was said before, the characters name is Supergirl; not Superwoman

I get it. I just think some people are getting hung up on "political correctness" over a comic book character. Not saying YOU are one of them, just to be clear.

I think the promo addressed the issue that the character was less than thrilled with the "girl" part of the name, but you know... once something is hashtagged, it is official.

If she did those acts, and came out in costume at a younger age the name being Supergirl would make more sense. Even as she aged, it would be acceptable to keep the name. This is most logical. Instead she is starting as a mid 20's woman.

The series' official description and the fact that Alex scolds her for exposing her powers.

They didn't want to do a high school show where she goes to school and has superpowers. This made it more difficult with the age though. Now she is starting out older, but the character is Supergirl... so they obviously have to call her Supergirl.

She is a slow flight learner like SV's Tom Welling version of Clark :hehe: Her first time to fly seems to be the plane rescue.

Again, it is just the character's name. The promo made it very clear that the public took to calling the character "Supergirl", when Kara said "You can't name her Supergirl", and Cat Grant replied "I didn't..."

The character was labeled that in the court of public opinion and on social media, indicated by the use of the hashtag on the "news reel" of Kara saving the plane. She does not like it, but clearly goes on to embrace it.

At least we won't have to wait ten years...

You wasted no time getting an avatar made from the Supergirl promo. Faster than a... um... something.

It's called context. I know my own context to the post. I'm saying she was not wearing the costume as a teenager, and known as Supergirl by anyone. In this version that is, she will wear it at 25 and get her name then. Had this all happened when she was a teen, the Supergirl name would make more sense.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but it sounds like Kara's journey to Earth took 12 years, since she's only been on Earth for 12 years herself, but mentions that the destruction of Krypton happened 24 years ago. If her journey did take 12 years, it'd explain how/why we see an adult (presumably) Superman pull her out of her ship and take her to the Danverses.
