Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - Part 7

Eh. That or he's just playing catch-up since I don't think he watched it. Both he and Marc didn't keep up on the most recent season of Gotham either, and with Supergirl being on a different network and Smith being so wrapped into The Flash, I can see skipping out on it. Hell, the only reason I'm tuning in myself is because it's switched networks. Had it still been on CBS, can't say I'd be giving Supergirl the time of day. Well, that and the aftertaste of that godawful first trailer, but that's another story.

Kevin Smith WILL BE directing an episode of Supergirl this season.

Looks like the CW isn't afraid to give us some fan service. Still they have to be careful with those musical episodes. We don't need to go too Adam West Batman campy. The CW shows already have a reputation for being cheesy.

Still no new news on universe merging. With SG crossing over twice in the season and more in the future, how will it be accomplished?

Glad the musical will not happen in the mega crossover. As for this musical crossover between Supergirl and Flash, either Supergirl is staying in the Arrowverse after the mega-crossover or Flash visits her universe again.

I was hoping Kevin Smith would direct a Supergirl episode, perhaps for the mega crossover but I'll take this one.

Mon-El and Miss Martian are great additions to Supergirl as it's a show filled with alien superheroes.

What do so many people have against musical episodes?

There are close to a dozen current or former cast members on Supergirl and The Flash ALONE who are musically talented (Melissa, Jeremy, David, Mehcad, Chyler, Calista, Laura, Peter, Grant, Carlos, Jesse, Tom, Andy), so it would be a shame not to let them exercise that talent.

It's irrelevant if they can sing, these are superhero dramas. Singing in episodes turns it into parody.

Also if people have a differing opinion to yourself maybe just accept it.

Flashpoint is looking more and more like the catalyst.....more people are talking about it than just Bleeding Cool at this point....so we shall see. Still JUST A RUMOR however.

Miss Martian is a shape shifter so I think people are making way too big a deal about Sharon being cast as her. She could be closer to her 20s but took on an older human form for unknown reasons.

Yes, I know she's a shapeshifter. So technically she could also be a man. But I thought they'd try and build on the young women dynamic between Supergirl and Miss Martian. It's not a big deal, but interesting choice they decided to go with someone obviously older.

anyways, here's the variant cover for Supergirl #1. I love it!!!

If it's done like Crisis where the universes and previous stories merge then great. Which thinking about it, it must be given her supporting cast will remain.

I'm genuinely curious as to what other places have picked up on the whole "Flashpoint merger" thing. I wasn't trying to be antagonistic in the least.

Musical crossover? It worked for shows like Batman Brave and the Bold, not sure about here. Could be a sign they are running out of ideas. I think the 20-22 episodes per season that these shows have is a bit much. They should trim the fat to avoid multiple fillers, villain of the week and possible musical episodes.
I was thinking of that BATB episode as well with Music Meister! Might as well cast NPH while they're at it too! I personally love the idea of a musical episode, it reminds me of episodes those LSD trip episodes that Fringe had once a year that acted as a breather in the middle of the season. It can be a fun detour if done correctly.

And Buffy was a vampire drama yet it's musical episode was dramatic, dark, and extremely relevant to every single character's development. Musicals, like anything else, come in many shapes and sizes, including dark ones. It won't necessarily be a parody.

Buffy wasn't as serious as these DC shows are. Well I don't care what it is, singing and live action superheroes I find a stupid idea. I know loads of people who will turn off from both these shows if they have musical episodes.

Supergirl isn't such a serious show. It's less serious than Buffy, which could be very dark at times.

I'd love to see Melissa use her musical talents.

I like the idea of a musical crossover.... though it's a shame that Arrow isn't included as (not including the obvious Barrowman), there's a few good voices over there as well.

You pull that card quite often so, sorry if I drew too quick........and once IF IT EVER DOES, move out of the RUMOR category, I will "maybe" include sources. ;) But, SERIOUSLY....right now it is still VERY MUCH a rumor.

Honestly, as much as I am a fan of this show......I am still not TOTALLY in the musical episode fan group. It really depends on how they pull this off...if they have me laughing my arse off through the entire episode, then I will be a happy camper. If it turns out like Buffy did, and I just had the look of the "WTF Cat"? then I will not be happy.

I hope it's more than just singing. I hope they can do a dance number too.

Don't know what kind of songs they should include. Is it just Supergirl, Flash and LOT in the crossover? But since Barrowman will be on LOT, he is bound to be included.

Do you think they'll use Taylor Swift's "Superman" as one of the songs?

I think Melissa could do that song.

If they have to do it, I think it would work better as a one off episode of Supergirl but not for the Flash IMO. I think the fact it's a two parter is baffling in all honesty,

A couple questions for the musical crossover. Will they sing full songs? Will they sing in their costumes? If they do it in street clothes then it loses the shock value, lol.

Did you not like OMWF?:shock I didn't know there were people out there who disliked it... :cwink:

Good grief, I hope not.....please, no Taylor Swift songs. Of course, I might actually enjoy that song with someone that actually sings singing it. So.....maybe.... ;)

They'll have to do it in their costumes for part of it, otherwise it's not as interesting.

I'm glad it's a two-parter. I hope they even release the soundtrack on iTunes eventually. They might not do full songs on the show but I hope they record the full songs for release.
