Supergirl Movie

I'll be glad to see this and there is a chance it may hit the mark.

I'm so disappointed that she wont be introduced in Superman first. I can only hope that he at least cameos in her film.

Adapting either Little Girl Lost or Girl From Krypton would've made such a good plot for a movie!

I think I prefer Supergirl not being Superman’s cousin. It feels too convenient.

Yep, I can see a big screen Supergirl striking gold. Everything seems right for it, with the general push for female representation plus Supergirl's current public recognition thanks to the CW show and the DC SuperHero Girls line.

I would love to hear Affleck and Cavill voicing that wonderful mic exchange between Bats and Supes at the begining. It would be hilarious :yay:

Exactly. And I would love to see Supergirl meet Wonder Woman somehow.

Definitely  I love the scenes of Diana training Kara on Themyscira in The Supergirl from Krypton. I enjoyed them in the Superman/Batman: Apocalypse animated movie too.

Agreed. I always liked Superman:TAS way better having Kara In- Ze being an explorer with her family and being the only surviving crew member aboard her ship. Then having Clark adopt her into his family. Not only that but it would make it unique to the CW show too.

Timing is everything, if Capt Marvel is a hit, no reason to say why it shouldn't, this film comes out shortly after and boom, it's raining green.

It'll be interesting to see how Supergirl's box office compares to that of each of the Wonder Woman movies.

You know there's this little movie called Wonder Woman... it was a moderate success I think.:o

Oh damn, seeing her getting trained up in Themyscira would be a dream.

Okay, now I'm thinking this is the movie we need, adapting the first half of The Supergirl from Krypton. I'm not attached to the Darkseid/Apocalypse stuff, but there are ways they can hint at those elements if they're cleverer than they've ever been. Or they can just do something else for act III instead.

As of now my top two choices:

Ekaterina Samsonov- You Were Never Really Here

Angourie Rice-The Nice Guys

Was she up for it? That would've been a great role for her.

Ofcourse, but what i meant was, Supergirl in my mind is more comparable to Capt Marvel - so when people see that film, presumably based on the back off WW and marvel's good reputation, the hype should be huge. Basically riding off WW and piggy backing on Capt Marvel.

Eh, I think people are putting way too much stock in Supergirl being a massive hit. I don't think enough people care about her in the same way they do WW. Different story if she was introduced through a Superman film, but as a stand alone solo film I don't think it will have same appeal.

If they apply the same approach, that take will make more sense for Supergirl than Wonder Woman if the actress is intended to be younger.

Either way I just don't think this is the right way to introduce Supergirl. The character is so inherently tied to Superman that it's really hard to make a solo film without her having some connection with him. Even the TV series couldn't escape his presence, and the '83 film is severely lacking in part because he's not around. A Batgirl film makes sense because Batman is merely the influence for her, they're not directly linked like Superman and Supergirl.

Yeah, I doubt Supergirl movie will be a massive hit. Captain Marvel will be successful as Marvel will use IW-part 2 to introduce Captain Marvel and they will get people to see her solo movie by making some plot thread leading up to that movie. Plus Marvel has the advantage of having a built-in audiences which will guarantee that it will get a good opening week.

A solo Supergirl movie introduced as a stand-alone movie has no such advantage.

I've avoided going to the Captain Marvel thread with this opinion but I actually don't have a great deal of confidence in that film. We're 7 months away and we've gotten virtually no idea what the film is about or looks like. Something about that film just feels off for an MCU film. On top of that, I think Brie Larson was possibly the most vanilla woman they could have picked to star in it.
