Supergirl Supergirl Season 2 Episode 18 "Ace Reporter" MAJOR SPOILERS

Really I thought it was a test to see what Supergirl would do with actually doing anything. :csad:

Seriously, we are in the last 5 episodes and they give us this? Really?

And then we are going to have a James centric episode just 3 from the finale? Really?

Who's show is this?

That last question is something the producers need to ask themselves.

This ep felt more Kara-centric to me than the last couple. Maybe because instead of lounging around enjoying her "funemployment" and waiting for things to happen to her (or her boyfriend), she finally got proactive and chased something and got her own career back on track in the process. Yeah, it would've been nice to see her defeat Biomax herself, but the trade-off here was worth it to me. Plus, she was back to being concerned about saving civilians rather than her boyfriend, so yay.

They need to get rid of the DEO anyway so if it was a test, bye bye.

If only the other writers can see what a proactive Supergirl can do.

This doesnt do much else except be the third wheel in this crime fighting duo. His girlfriend loses it and then its all "forgot about it girl, you can join our club"

This is the big reason why it at least got a 6 from me...had there been one kick ass scene and no super-trio subplot it would have gotten a 10. :) But I am royally tired of Guardian and so little of Supergirl being Super.

I don't think they necessarily need to get rid of the DEO, but I think Kara needs to pull a Clark and say.... no-go with the government.

Have to agree. it was both enjoyable and got things on track for kara in her personal lihe that wasn't of the romantic nature, but mattered none the less.

I would have enjoyed her doing her dotcom independence a little longer cause I'd rather she be freelance. But I'm satisfied.

I'm not digging that temper of her's . something bad will happen cause of it. what's with that with writers anyway? it's almost bad (no No it's way worse) Linda on the flash short to cut people off people thing which her alternate doctor light share's where she'd jump to react with out listening to reason. they put that in a package of girlfriend?.....

after what silver banhee was like and then this with current girl friend. if I were Wynn I'd need break from girl's like this. it not a fun or any type of likable trait.

It's not likeable in male's ether.

I'm personally getting the impression that the writers don't really WANT us to like Lyra all that much. It seems to me like they want us to be clear on how much Winn likes her and why, but they also don't want us to get too attached. So it honestly wouldn't surprise me if she aligned herself with the Daxamites at the end of the season or something.

That was the least amount of time with J'onn and Alex.

And no Maggie at all. Actually there was no J'onn and Alex at all in the Flash crossover episode last season. So that one was the least amount of time.

The triangle with James/ Winn/ Lyra was okay as it didn't take up too much screentime.
I'm guessing this is the episode where Lyra was James and Winn's Yoko Ono that the producers were referring to her being earlier on.

I wonder if this episode was a test to see what Supergirl would do without the DEO.
I doubt it. With everything else going on there wasn't time for any DEO plotline this episode. Just like there wasn't much CatCo in previous episodes.

that'll the time for winn to dump her (0obviously)take a break & think about what he'd like to find in girl and what he should accept as well. it's one thing if they have issue's.

But it's another when they have some weird tendency dancing on some level that can lead to abuse . like the type silver banhee has and what Lyra has when they don't get what they want or they aren't haveing the best day or hear something they don't like hearing.

he has some evaluating to do if and when that happens.. basically those women do too but the likely hood of them ever doing it, is slimmer then his

I thought the episode was okay.

Found the episode a little boring at first but it got better with time. It was just okay to me.

Kara and Mon-El were clearly in a relationship in this episode so I don't think it's about Mon-El not being her love interest but that their relationship was not a source of drama. I don't know why Arrowverse shows don't understand that it's more fun to see the couple doing stuff together than reciting romantic lines to each other or their usual drama.

Lyra is nuts and I don't understand why Winn didn't run for the hills after her outburst. Is the show brushing this behavior off or will it lead to something else?

It was fun to see Kara get back to reporting and get her job back. I suppose this aspect of her life won't be touched upon till Cat returns.

I REALLY freaking hope that they don't turn Lena evil (it'd be so predictable and cliché). I'd much prefer that she remain Kara's genuine, if a bit more morally grey, friend.

Snapper and Kara's dynamic was actually pretty fun here. His "I'm an A-hole to everyone, even people that I do genuinely care about" thing works surprisingly well.

Mon-el was fun here.

Ravi from IZombie is really charismatic, and the same was true here. And I like that there was at least some kind of twist involving him.

The James/Winn/Lyra stuff was, tolerable. Mostly because I like Winn and Lyra.

Rhea, don't you dare corrupt Lena, don't you do it. If you do, then I wouldn't really mind it if Kara pulls a General Zod from Man of Steel on you.

I don't want them to turn Lena evil either as that would be nothing more than being in Lex's shadow.

This episode felt like such filler

I'm so not interested in seeing Winns girlfriend help fight crime.

yeah why is she back? I wish they hadnt redeemed her and just let her get carted off

heh.

Guardian is so irrelevant that even Wynn would rather make out with his hot ex-thief alien girlfriend than watch his back. Poor James. :o

So I think Lena is now going to flirt with the dark side, and that end scene in her office, when she's talking about feeling cold and shut-down like her mother, was the start. Also a very worrying mental description. It sounded almost like a chrysalis.

It was a very touching scene too, but you can tell that Lena is going to need help, which will not come from Rhea. And I think she is going to find out that Kara is Supergirl through Rhea, seeing how Kara really didn't try and keep her identity secret in front of her. :whatever:

But I also think Kara being there for Lena will keep her from going full dark. It's just going to be a bumpy ride. Her Nature and Nurter are battling against each other, both in the examples shown from watching Lillian when she was young, and with the conscious choices she's made to try and be better. I think is she stronger than any other Luthor, chiefly because she's not of their blood, and so she will be able to continue to say 'no' to those tendencies.

This episode I liked just about from the start! The only parts I didn't like were the Guardian scenes. As was mentioned earlier, I started to zone out like it was a commercial break. I was however, expecting the Yoko-Ono schtick to last more than one episode. And James turning around and inviting her back, especially after she flipped her Crazy Switch, was just odd and stupid. Just weird. Drop this plot please...

Everything else I loved. We had some great moments with Lena, which is always a super plus, we got Kara going back to Catco after a very nice olive branch and apology to Carr and we had some great Karamel moments. I don't mind them at all doing romantic stuff, but them going out together and solving mysteries was really fun.

The moment when Mon-El hugged Jack and saying he thought they had a 'man-nection...'

"We should hang. Call me." LOL!:woot:

Overall a very enjoyable episode and winning a rare 9 from me! I hope we see more tightly written and choreographed episodes ahead, especially with next week's 'Alex' episode.

True we didn't have much in the way of Alex and J'onn, but they'll make up for it. It's actually kinda nice to have the stories revolving around all aspects of Supergirl's life.

Whether she is wearing the cape or not, Kara is Supergirl 24-7!:cwink:

You know, it would've been nice to get an episode prior to this one that actually focused on Kara trying to hone her journalistic abilities. Maybe it's narrative convenience or maybe she just wrote a whole bunch of stories off-screen, but I still don't find it credible or believable that after this one Cadmus story, that shouldn't have gone viral or become noteworthy on a site when she JUST got the domain name for it, is seen as this trusted reporter by that one guy.

I know it's a minor tidbit and his death was just there to push the story forward, but if you're going to make it seem like Kara has this popularity to bloggers and can actually be seen as somewhat of a credible reporter based on her blog, let us see that play out prior to this episode. Not everyone just gets lucky off of one story, but again, I see that as more narrative convenience than actual development.

I get that the show is called Supergirl, and not like the Donner films put a huge emphasis on Clark being a journalist versus Lois being the ace reporter, but to put so much focus on what Kara does for a living, and how she tries to continue that when unemployed, it's important to show that play out instead of just one story and all of a sudden, Kara's got a big reputation.

I'll give the show this, Kara at least admits that she got lucky.

This seemed like a completely shipping episode. I can imagine there will be tons of gifs on Tumblr with Kara holding Lena close from the end of the episode with all their dialogue, or with other more romantic dialogue inserted instead.

That was Jiya from Timeless as the villain.

The nano swarm looked like the same thing that attacked and destroyed the Enterprise in Star Trek Beyond.

I'm not interested to see Jimmy or any of his vigilante escapades with Winn's girlfriend. That's a boring plotline.

Chyler barely played today. And Maggie didn't appear at all.
