It is a problem when I was made to agree to certain things when I registered here. The general jist of what I agreed to had me to beleive that I should not post anything that I would not want a 13 year old to see. Clearly that is not the case here and the agreement should changed.

Uh, a member of the Taliban wouldn't want a 13 year old to see a woman's ELBOW.
Everyone has different standards so you have to strive for the closest thing to a consensus.....not kow-tow to one individual's judgement about what is or isn't appropriate.

It doesn't bother me, but I understand why it would some others and I wouldn't put something up like that myself either.

Again, if my complaint was way off base, I should have been told. I wasn't. I complained to Dew about an avvy I didn't like ages ago, and she told me it was legal and that was the end of it. The one I complained about this time was much worse. If I was wrong to complain, a mod should have told me and they did not.

Oh, there's nothing wrong with saying how you feel and complaining. I'm just talking about, at the source of it, if your feelings, that should be expressed, are healthy and justified.

Especially in light of the fact that everyone is free to put other posters of their choosing on "ignore",....so you'd never have to see the avatar again if you didn't want to.

To "report" it to mods instead of just ignoring it indicates that you are being more of a "Morality Policewoman" than you're characterizing yourself to be.

In it's potential capacity to cause bodily harm, my avatar is the only one I've seen that could actually be complained about in a valid way.

It's actually the direct result of me not realizing that the "ignore" feature would also not display the avvy. I thought it simply blocked just the message. I know better now.

Yeah, Ignore is the best if it's avatars and sadly insufficient if it's posts.
'Cause someone else can quote the person you want to blot out of existence, and you'll see it, but they can't quote their avatar (I mean, they can, but no one would, except for now, to be a jerk, and then you can just put the avatar quoter on ignore as well).
It's just like they don't exist, unless quoted.

The thing is Squeek when i received the E Mail report i know it goes out to all Global and Admins.
So when i saw the kissing avvy we'd already deemed ok when it was reported to Immortalfire,i didn't do anything,i couldn't know if someone else had already spoken to you b/c we all got the same e mail.

S'okay. It's all over now. I suppose I take the biggest offense to being called homophobic when it simply isn't the case. Anyone who has read my posts in the gay and religious threads should know that.

Well for the record i never thought you were homophobic,i wasn't surprised one or two female posters found the avvy offensive or at least tacky.

Haven't seen any actually, lol. I suppose that is becuase they aren't as shocking... But I would have been just as offended if it was a straight couple because that kind of kissing makes me think of porn regardless.

The simple answer is, it is a "family forum" when it is convenient for the moderator who acted to play that card. In case no one noticed, a lot of moderators make up the rules as they go along (not to say all of them do).
