Well.
Russell didn't annoy me as much tonight. Maybe it's because I've become desensitized to all that he spews every five seconds. It doesn't help, either, that episode after episode, he is constantly being proven right by his fellow players about what grand idiots they are. No-one can be that thick, especially after Russell announced to all and sundry that he was not going to be outwitted. But no, I saw no eyes narrowing in suspicious at that remark, just blank looks, probably still figuring out on how to shake off the bad luck they've been having in challenges. They don't deserve the million dollars. Russell can win it, for all I give an ass' rat.
Liz and Jaison sitting around the fire, alone, was the perfect opportunity for them to
do something, but instead of coming to at least a tentative strategy, they blew that away for more lamenting about what cruel world they've been dumped onto.
Stop recruiting pretty-faces, you damn producers, and start bringing in those that actually want to play Survivor. Jaison, being the case in point, has obviously all but given up. He even looked disappointed when Liz's fate was announced. A player with passion spent is no player at all, and a boring one to watch, at that!
I've been wary of Laura ever since I read Yasmin's interview, in which she said that, of the girls, Laura held the most influence. When Shambo was elected tribe leader, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Laura out of her seat and clawing Shambo's eyes out. Beech looked scary, even bared her teeth! But, uh, she was nice enough when she got to Foa Foa, even approachable, but if that's not a sign that she's a crafty one, I don't know what is.
Best thing about the episode was the preview. Merge at last! Now, we'll get to see some strategizing not exclusively by Russell. I wonder if he'll somehow integrate himself into the Galu Guy alliance, but I doubt it, what with him and Laura now being the best of buddies and the guys being tight-lipped. It should make for an interesting confrontation, however, especially if one of the guys picks up on Russell trying to be friends with everybody, and we all know how much Russell loves confrontations. All talk in confessionals, but quick to explode at the slightest hint of dissent. He still has the idol, though, so I wonder how it'll come into use, if it ever does.
"Then all hell breaks loose." I am liking the sound of that. They best not be misleading us with out-of-context scenes and quotations.
