Survivor: Samoa

I hate Russell, but that was a really good play on his part. Also, I refuse to play the "He/She lost on purpose" game with Russell and Mick. It doesn't make any sense for Russell to purposely lose unless he was gunning for Kelly or another Galu the whole time. Mick is just a bad competitor. If he was trying to remain under the radar then he failed because he made it to the second round of the competition. Besides there's only four Foa Foa members left. It's not like Galu doesn't notice him, they're just more intimidated by Russell. Russell's blindside was more magnificent because he was unable to take out Laura.

Still, I'm not quite sure Russell's head is on straight. Why not get rid of the three Galu guys who are just as strong (if not stronger) than the Foa Foa boys? The girls are weaker and probably won't turn on the men unless Laura pushes them to do so, and right now Laura is gung ho about eliminating Russell.

I couldn't believe how much he sucked at that puzzle challenge. Shambo, I understand, but Mick? I'm beginning to doubt if his doctor status is all it's cracked up to be. His uselessness is becoming more apparent by the week, and his being only good for his face and vote, too.

Yeah, I'm getting pretty disappointed in Mick.

I think it was a smart move to take out one of the girls this week, break up/weaken that alliance within the alliance. They took out a physical threat last week, this week take out a more strategic threat. There's still three guys so two won't have immunity.

Shambo is the answer, Russel is desperate to keep Shambo happy so he let her pick the target.

I think that Russel got over confident at the challenge, he thought he had it in the bag but then Laura snagged hers and beat him to it. Laura is really, really lucky that she won those back to backs or should would have gone either time.

I´m liking Russel more and more, the guy is just to clever at figuring the game out for me not to like him. I really hope he makes it to the final three if only to hear his "vote for me" speech, he should be able to whip up a good one for change.

Shambo voted for Russell? Ohman...

And Kelly looks like Scarlette Johansson...

Brett doesnt talk much does he...

Shambo was in on Russell's plan. I'm not surprised that she voted with her 'alliance'. It was the best way to 'prove her loyalty'. She played it off quite well with Laura too.

I liked how when Laura said, "He just stirred up a lot of hell, is what he did," Shambo went along, nodding, "Oh, yeah," with that pretend-serious poker face. It was hilariously obvious, but Laura was understandably consumed in her fury.

Shambo voting for Russell was a no-brainer. Voting for Kelly wouldn't have done anything save for exposing her alliance with Russell.

The more I ponder about it, the more convinced I am that Russell didn't throw the immunity challenge. Considering how so badly he itched to take Laura out, it was logical to keep her as far away from immunity as possible. He really was that cocky.

But u could see he was like "Oh #$%^" when laura won it

I still think he threw it. He already had the HII at that point, I think he wanted to play up the fact that he didn't have, to lead on the Galu's.

Of course they bought the act hook, line, and sinker. I think the only thing that would have made that Tribal Council better would have been if the Galu's had stuck to their plan of just voting out Natalie and Russell had given the idol to Natalie for her to play it instead. :hehe: :hehe:

There's no way Russel threw the game.
As you can see

when he snags his last bag you can see he gets the "oh yeah, I got this" cocky look on his face. Then when Laura snags hers you can see him scramble, and he would have won had the bag not fallen off the hook as he gave the rope a last yank.

I agree. I think he lost because of his own arrogance, not because he threw it.

Pure speculation, but let's assume neither Russ nor Laura gets immunity and there's a needed tie-breaker because of a 5-5 split at the next tribal (Shambo sides with Foa Foa), Russell would be smart to get his side to vote Monica and not Laura. Laura is a tough-as-nails competitor and could very well win a fire-starting comp against Russell. Monica on the other hands is as useless as an inflatable dart-board. She would be like Sundra or Becky trying to get that fire going. She's an easy kill in a tie-breaker. Then the next week, Foa Foa plus Shambo will have Galu outnumbered 5-4 and then you can safely take out Laura. My 2 cents anyway.

When there is a tie vote and there are more than four players left in the game, the tiebreaker isn't the firemaking challenge. That's only when four players are attending Tribal Council and there is a tie.

This is how ties are resolved when there are more than four players left in the game, and this has been confirmed by multiple players from the show:

If the first vote is a tie Probst gives them another chance to revote. If the vote is still tied after the revote then castaways are given two minutes to have an open talk amongst themselves and they must decide as a group which of the two players must go home.

If after that, they still haven't come up with a decision, then the two people that had the votes cast against them become immune and the other players have to choose rocks from a bag. The player that chooses the purple rock is eliminated.

The player chooses a purple rock. That has to be the dumbest thing I ever heard. No athletic skill, brains or diplomatic/social skills needed. Pure chance. Nothing "survivor" about that. I hope it doesn't come down to that.

Strange, I could have sworn there have been ties when there have been more then four players left...

Are you sure that the purple rock rule is still in effect and wasn't changed after the one time it was used?

The fire making tie splitter has always struck me as being a far more fair way of doing things.

Assuming there is a tie splitting competition and that the immunity idol has not been found or is not known to be found by the other side, then I think things are going to go like this:

"Old Galu: Russel has found it twice and is the obvious target, in case he has found it again lets vote of (either Mick or Jaison) to be safe" Shambo might then be a mole who informs Foa Foa on who is going.

"Foa Foa: We know that Laura things she's going home, if she has the immunity idol she will be playing it. Let's vote out (either Monica or John) to be safe". Again, Shambo might know if any of her old teammates has the idol though I think that they would be crazy to tell her.

Yes there have been ties before, but there has never been a tie after the second revote because people are ttoo scared to take a chance with the purple rock.

It was wrongly used in Marquesas at the F4 when Paschal was eliminated, but the rulebook has stated that this is the tiebreaker process for ties with more than four people.

A lot of past players post at Survivor Sucks, another message board I'm a member off. Stephen from Tocantins and Eliza from Vanuatu/Micronesia post there frequently (pretty much everyday) and Eliza has backed up that this is the tiebreaker.

During tribal, when the host goes to "tally the votes", does he mess up the stuff in the pot... because wont it be very obvious who voted for who if he just read the votes the the order they were put in...

Yes, when Jeff goes to tally the votes, he usually does rearrange them for dramatic purposes of course.

The player chooses a purple rock. That has to be the dumbest thing I ever heard. No athletic skill, brains or diplomatic/social skills needed. Pure chance. Nothing "survivor" about that. I hope it doesn't come down to that.

I think that's the point. I think the purple rock is sort of a punishment for the fact that the castaways can't choose someone to vote out.

Erick seems to be hoping Russell would win....

when Russell whipped out his Imunity Idol, Erick was "YES!"

There have been tie votes in past seasons that weren't shown, specifically episode four of Micronesia when the fans tribe went to Tribal Council and Mikey B. was voted out.

The vote was 3-3-1 at first, three for Mikey, three for Chet, and then one for Jason. Of course the tie would have been resolved in the revote, so there was no reason for them to show the initial vote.

Tonights episode is apparently another big one, with another dramatic Tribal Council!

I'm not so sure I can dislike Russell anymore...and Laura is GONE! :applaud
