Survivor: Samoa

The preview for this weeks episode was horribly misleading.

Apparently when Jaison was saying "It's him or me" in the preview he wasn't even talking about Russell. Apparently Ben takes his racial slurs to a new height and it pisses off Jaison so he wants him gone.

Ugh. How can Ben top his past racist comments?

Did anyone hear about the tsunami that hit Samoa yesterday? Nearly one hundred people are already confirmed dead...and some villages were flattened.

Lucky for them they wrapped up filming of their All-Star edition at the start of the month. They still had Survivor production crew on Samoa when it hit but nobody got hurt. link

The previews are always terribly misleading for both Survivor and Amazing Race. They use a throwaway line or minor little thing and make it look like the focus of the episode, I don't even bother with the previews.

Gotta hand it to Jaison for calling Ben out though, you don't see to many people go balls out like he did at Tribal.

But yeah, they certainly don't look like they're going far.

Jaison was able to stop Russell's plans for the week with it as well.

lol, Foa Foa doesn't even seem to be trying.

Jaison needs to win please, thank you.

I hate Russell, but like Richard Hatch in season 1, he's the only reason I'm watching. Without him, there are no compelling characters. I hope he gets eliminated in the last or second-last episode. He IS a great villain.

Also, I don't get the love for Jaison. He's not bad, but the only thing he's done so far is swim well. Besides that, he's got a bit of a preppie attitude that I find annoying. I'm glad Ben's gone though. Next one is Ashley for sure.

Any character can be compelling on Survivor, it's all in the edit. If they never show a person, they never get a chance to make an impression and we never get a chance to make our own opinions about them.

Oh, Laura splashing people during the challenge was especially LOL. :hehe:

Exactly.

The 'Galu Girls' acting like Charlie's Angels and their reactions to the comfort items was beyond annoying. Maybe it's a good thing that the show has been focusing on FOA FOA.

Why do they keep doing these crap immunity/reward challenges all at once?

Is it because of the other show being shot at the same time?

All I can say about the TC result is, good!

Although it was a happy occasion, I cannot yet muster the energy to be joyous, still overcome with the supreme disgust at Ben as I am. I'm glad to see the back of him, and big kudos to Jaison for not backing down from sticking to his principles. I had initially pegged him to be the reserved sort, but when he brings it, boy does he. Would be nice to see him win, or at least a runner-up.

Shambo, I have decided, is awesome. It was uncertain for me from day one, because she reminded me strongly of Sandy (though with less forceful a personality), and as we have seen so little of the Galu tribe, I couldn't really be sure if whether her complaining was for complaining's sake or warranted. Her evident sincerity in wanting to get to know the other tribe helped, too, even if it was well-faked and just for strategic purposes. Certainly convinced me!

Russell H. showed a side tonight that I'd suspected before: he's all talk! Well, not all, really; he did single-handedly drive both Marissa and Betsy out of the game, after all, with whispered lies here and there. Plus, he did find the immunity idol all by himself, without a clue, which still rankles me Anyone going into Survivor ought to know that there would be hidden immunity idols sprinkled around somewhere; I never got that--or, perhaps, most of who do get picked are either casual or non- viewers and only one or two really follow Survivor zealously. But I digress.

Behind the scenes and on interviews, he may be oh-so-theatrical with his villainous words all he wants, but when people outright call his bluff, he's not so confident anymore. When Mick told Russell to look him in the eye and promise, you could see his hesitation there, and I daresay that Mick did, and Russell knew that Mick knew that he hesitated, and so he promptly showed Mick the immunity idol, which drove all thoughts of potential backstabbers out of his mind, and then they became best chummies again. And when Jaison put Russell on the spot about Ben ever doing anything useful in challenges, he didn't even have an answer on-hand. (I don't blame him; that was a question to which there was only one answer). My point is, R.H. is so full of it that I'm surprised he hasn't burst already from sheer ego.

R.H.'s plans are coming apart, finally. Let's see: all voted for Ben, if I'm not wrong. Next week, you have Jaison, Ashley, and Natalie on the one side, and Mick, R.H., and Elizabeth on the other. Next week (I hope): Elizabeth breaks away from her tentative alliance and form with the other girls (plus Jaison) Girl Power, which R.H. so fears. Then they all vote either for Mick or for R.H., and then the Hidden Immunity Idol is used, kicking off one of the other side. But Girl Power still has numbers and R.H. no longer has the HID. Of course, that's assuming that Liz turns. She better. Use that attorney brain of yours and figure out that you're gone as soon as your usefulness (i.e. your vote's necessity) runs out. Gah!

Looking forward to next week. See what drama rolls. :oldrazz:

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too. I'd thought that was because separating the reward challenges from the immunity challenges, with all the conniving that goes on in the Foa Foa tribe, the show would far exceed its hour-long limit. But perhaps not.

I really tried to strain my memory back to the early Tocantins days to remember whether this reward-immunity challenges were done then, but, bah, no such luck.

What do you mean? Them combining the Immunity and Rewards into one challenge?

I personally like that better than doing two separate challenges that clogs up half the episode. With only one challenge an episode, it leaves more time for camp life and getting to know the players better.

Yea, they did a combined Immunity/Reward challenge during the first two episodes of Tocantins.

I also prefered the immunity and reward challenges to be split . I think it changes the dynamic of the game. Foa Foa might of had more of a chance . I'm glad Jaison stuck to his guns , that was good. I want to see Foa win a challenge though c'mon.

Russell doesn't have a valid hidden immunity idol though. The hidden immunity idol for Foa Foa is at Galu's camp. So if Russell uses the one he has it'll be chucked into the fire.

You're saying he wouldn't be able to use it simply because he found it at his own camp?

Doesn't make much sense.

It would definitely throw a wrench into Russell's game play. Does anyone have a clip where this was actually said? I can't remember.

That would be a really interesting development . He could still go a long way even if it does belong to the other tribe unless he has to actually resort to using it.

Oh, it would be so hilarious if that is the case. R.H., knowing he's on the chopping block, smugly whips out the HID only for Jeff to *****-smack it down and send him walking home scratching his head and not a little pissed. Someone needs to pop the overlarge ego bubble he's encased himself in.

Regardless, I doubt that we're so fortunate. Just look at how easily Taj's possession of the HID shifted to Stephen's. Clearly, the rules governing the use of HIDs all come down to one thing: whoever has it, is entitled to it for good unless he or she is idiotic enough to give it away. Simple, easy to remember.

Yaz got F***** ! Monica did have the cuteness though.

I can't believe they voted out Yasmin! What is wrong with these people!?!?!
